The Epic Dragon Titan

Chapter 656: Chapter 656: The Fall of the Knight

Buzz!

Inside Muria's body, the nine divine weapons suddenly resonated, causing Muria, who was deep in thought on his crystal throne, to jerk his head up. He had been pondering how to handle the escalating conflict between humans and dragons.

"The weapons are resonating!" Muria frowned, feeling a discomfort that quickly dissipated. "What is the cause of this?"

"Did you sense something?" Muria summoned the Sword of Exorcism, carefully examining it and trying to communicate with it. However, despite its strong spirituality, the sword lacked self-awareness and couldn't explain the sudden resonance.

"I need to act personally; the number of dragon hunters is growing too large." Finding no answers, Muria set down the Sword of Exorcism and picked up the crystal book in his hand.

The book contained a plea for help from the Kingdom of Thiago, reporting another silver dragon had been ambushed and killed, though this time it occurred while the dragon was out investigating, not within the kingdom. This incident further infuriated the kingdom, which realized they couldn't handle the situation alone and sought Muria's cooperation. Being fellow metallic dragons provided a natural basis for their alliance.

Moreover, it wasn't just dragon hunters involved; larger forces were stepping in. The churches of benevolent gods had approached the Kingdom of Thiago, offering to mediate and quell the conflict. They had asked the Silver Dragon Queen to stop hunting the perpetrators, promising to investigate and provide justice.

Naturally, the Silver Dragon Queen refused, skeptical of human investigations of their own kind while the victims waited helplessly. "The churches of human benevolent gods, becoming more troublesome," Muria muttered, frowning. He decided it was time to take action personally. Synapse had already identified several legendary dragon hunters' whereabouts, and Muria planned to swiftly capture them all.

...

In a desolate city center reduced to ruins, a nearly sixty-meter-long crystal dragon lay motionless among the debris, resembling a perfect dragon-shaped crystal statue. The dragon's aura and the lifelike ice sculptures around it spoke of its previous savagery.

Before the crystal dragon lay a patchwork of dragon remains—dragon skin, bones, and scales, all valuable materials. The dragon stared at the remains, seething with grief and rage. Despite having killed the dragon hunters who had slain its offspring, nothing could bring its young back.

The steady sound of footsteps approached, and the crystal dragon, deep in mourning, slowly raised its head to see a middle-aged man in heavy knight armor approaching.

"Human, have you come to die?" The crystal dragon, now filled with an inexpressible hatred for humans, spoke coldly, glaring at the imposing human legend.

"You've destroyed seventeen cities and killed over 1.5 million people. Isn't that enough to quell your anger?" The human, who had followed the dragon's trail, questioned.

"It's not enough." The deep voice of the crystal dragon responded, its gaze turning colder. In its long life, never had it despised these insignificant pests as it did now.

"So you plan to continue slaughtering?"

"Of course. I will kill all the dragon hunters on this continent!"

"You seek revenge for your offspring; I don't interfere with that. But you cannot slaughter innocent civilians. Many of them are devout followers; your actions have drawn the attention of many gods."

"And so what? Do you think I'm afraid?" The crystal dragon scoffed, eyeing the human exuding divine power. "Divine blessings? Is that your confidence in confronting me? Pathetic human, do you think you can stand against me?"

"We'll see," the middle-aged paladin replied, drawing a glowing cross-shaped sword and pointing it at the crystal dragon.

Though gemstone dragons were smaller than their chromatic and metallic counterparts, their smaller size didn't equate to weaker strength.

"Roar!" The ancient dragon roared, releasing visible waves of cold air that surged towards the paladin.

The paladin shouted, sending a crescent-shaped sword wave towards the crystal dragon's chest. The dragon, not wanting to take the hit head-on, vanished and reappeared beside the paladin, its long tail sweeping with a force that pulverized the ground.

The paladin yelled, and a pale golden humanoid figure, over ten meters tall, enveloped him. The dragon's tail struck, but the golden figure remained intact.

"Let's see how many hits your god can protect you from," the dragon snarled, twisting its body and slashing its wings at him like massive blades.

For dragons, their bodies were their greatest weapons. Tail sweeps, wing slashes, claw strikes—a single move from a powerful dragon could cause catastrophic destruction. The once-dead city echoed with booms as the battle's shockwaves leveled the ruins.

In less than fifteen minutes, the city was completely destroyed, sinking into the ground, forming a basin-like depression...

Splat!

Crimson blood spurted from the paladin's mouth, freezing into mist in the icy air, snuffing out all life.

Thud! The paladin's body crashed to the ground like a ragdoll, dragging a long trench. His body twisted unnaturally, his armor collapsed and deformed, some pieces embedded in his flesh.

"You dare challenge me with such meager strength, humans are indeed arrogant," the crystal dragon sneered, looming over the fallen paladin. Opening its jaws, it began to gather a blindingly cold dragon breath...
