Chapter 8: Adrian's Sad Backstory
Adrian followed behind Jasper with a meek demeanor. Next, Jasper entered a room. The room was a depiction of Jasper's extraordinary wealth, Adrian found it hard to breathe after seeing the aesthetic.
Everything about it screamed exotic, it was a fantasy within a fantasy. There was no actual ceiling as the rest of the rooms had, it was more of a translucent glass covering that reflected the beautiful moonlight into the room.
There were also partly sentient objects that he had yet to notice himself.
"Have a seat" Jasper said as he sat on a gold cast seat opposite Adrian.
Adrian who was still awestruck slowly sank into the sofa seat behind him. He immediately felt that there were no throbbing pains in his butt anymore.
The fact that every usual furniture was replaced with gold just revealed the flaunting nature of Jasper.
Adrian couldn't believe his noobie eyes when he saw the wine cups move on their own volition. They didn't stop at moving alone and headed towards the center table that parted him and Jasper. Next, they sat down as a gold cast wine bottle flew over and filled them up.
Now, Adrian was consciously watching Jasper the entire time that this was going on. The latter's eyes were fixed on Adrian and his hands were rather free which meant he was not in the middle of casting a spell.
The attribute of the sentient cup and wine bottle to move about with intelligence was actually passive magic from Jasper as the Magic Lord he was.
"Little Warlock, let's have a formal introduction now" Jasper began after clearing his throat and drinking wine.
"Mm.Mm...Actually, I, I, Mm, My name is A-Adrian" Adrian struggled to speak his name.
For a moment, Adrian felt like something else possessed him. And he knew exactly what it was.
In Jasper's eyes, the colour wasn't the typical black of normal humans. There were rainbows in them and these rainbows were lethally mesmerising.
The eye colour would switch depending on the nature of spell he was casting in combat but afterwards, they'll turn back to rainbows which was a beautiful sight.
Adrian lost his mind by staring at them upfront because they were too magical. It was no wonder why Jasper always liked covering the front view of his face when outing.
Mortals and weaker sorcerers alike would lose their hearts if they constantly got to see the rainbow eyes.
"Adrian, nice name for a silly warlock like you. Any idea why Devil Ghost is out for you?" Jasper asked casually.
"No idea, I mean, I don't even know these guys" Adrian responded, albeit passively resisting those rainbow eyes.
"I don't think so, what's your history like?" Jasper's eyes narrowed, a flash glint passing through them.
"No idea, I mean, I don't even know these guys" Adrian paused, a sniff escaping his nostrils.
It appeared he was about tearing up from recounting his past.
"Speak, it's fine" Jasper declared, his tone containing a subtle spell that soothed Adrian's broken heart.
"I've never met my actual parents before but I lost my only brother three years ago. My brother tried hard to protect me from my parents' enemies who were my enemies to come. He did so for many years until then, that fateful night came" Adrian recounted the whole event.
He and his brother lived in their cave mansion together. His brother would protect him, play with him, take care of him as a child. They did a lot of sibling things together including learning spells.
For many years, everything was going quite well and Adrian didn't even remember having any parents aside his big brother. His big brother to him was just a few levels lesser than Jasper in terms of magic prowess. Not to mention he was a youngster then that hadn't lived to a full century yet.
Adrian's big brother was super powerful and this was probably why his enemies didn't have peace of mind with him still surviving and being alive out there. So one night, they sent a battalion of magical soldiers at once to surround their cave mansion.
Adrian's brother was caught off guard and had to fight these battalion unprepared. Then, there was also young Adrian who knew literally no spells and had to watch his brother fight off nearly a hundred magical soldiers alone to protect him.
On that fateful night, spells flew in every corner, causing a great scene of destruction outside the cave mansion. Sadly enough, Adrian and his brother's cave mansion was situated at a place where no one frequently visited.
It was a secluded territory for many years since the two moved in there. There was no way to call for help when Adrian watched the magical soldiers besiege his big brother while bombarding him with spells.
Adrian's brother burned all of his magic and his blood till the last drop to kill off a large number of the magical soldiers but a few of them still survived in the end.
However, after sacrificing his magic, blood and life , Adrian's brother could no longer face off these sorcerers. He knew that he would eventually die so he exhausted the last bit of strength left in him to flee to a nearby nonmagical human territory to hide Adrian.
In the Solarian Universe, there were many races but the most popular ones were the humans, faes, elves, sirens, beasts, flora and the astral race. Among the human race, there were the magical humans and nonmagical humans. The magical humans included sorcerers, witches, wizards, Mages and Magic Lords.
On the other hand were normal humans with little or no magical abilities at all. It was easy for magical humans to blend with nonmagical humans in their society. However, for normal humans in the world of magic, they'll find it really difficult to survive by themselves.
Adrian suffered serious psychological damage after his brother's death. He was so traumatised that neither humans nor their magical counterparts wished to keep him in their care. They were afraid that his gloomy energy would contact them in a bad way.
