The Diary Of A Queer Warlock

Chapter 6: Assassin's Trouble

For an entire minute, it swirled around him, just flapping its wings and smiling creepily.

After that, it turned back and left Adrian's room through the wall. It was like a ghost leaving no trace as it moved through the wall like it wasn't present. The pixie had strangely done this without the application of magic.

At this point, with how weird it was, it seemed a little too fishy to believe it was only a pixie.

Before it left, it puffed a bluish smoke against Adrian's face with its mouth. Suddenly, Adrian who had been smiling in his sleep seized his smile.

First, he stopped smiling and next he began revealing signs of discomfort. At some point, his face looked like someone crying in pain.

He suddenly bolted out of bed minutes after because he was startled awake by the sudden nightmare.

"Something isn't right" Adrian said inwardly while shaking his head in confusion.

He noticed the messed up room with the scattered furniture and litters of broken glasses as well as many other objects that weren't in the same position as they were before he fell asleep.

Everything happened in an obvious way that one could tell involved extraordinary interference like magic. Only magic could create this level of chaos in less than an hour.

With how cool-headed Jasper was, this wasn't something he would do. In any case, it was clear that he knew his boundaries with a teenager. Then this meant that there was another third person present in the castle.

But that in itself was equally untrue. Earlier today, Adrian had wandered to nearly every spot in the wide castle but he never saw even a dead animal in this castle.

In the castle, it was all lonely, cold and empty which was Jasper's vibe. But now, there was a third person in the castle? Who? Where?

Adrian had a couple of questions in his heart. He didn't consider that the time was a little too dangerous to investigate. He opened his door and walked out. He couldn't believe his eyes when he stepped out.

He initially thought only his room was messed up but he was wrong. Nearly everything outside had been somehow turned upside down in a literal context.

What was once the top of the castle was now on the ground and that included the naked lamp stands covered in green flame. The sudden change awed Adrian into halting his steps.

From the records, he knew that without enough magical powers to protect oneself, the green flame would devour their life force in minutes. It was so lethal that a second with the flame burning next to an ordinary man equaled a year stolen from the person's life.

It was so ominous to mere mortals but to a powerful Magic Lord like Jasper, it could only be reduced to a lighting system and room warmer.

Adrian could only decide to be more careful about navigating the castle himself during the investigation as he would lose his way and endanger his life very quickly in dangerous times.

Meanwhile,

Jasper's eyes suddenly opened midway through his meditation. A dark presence in form of a black halo materialized beside him.

The presence slowly assumed a humanoid appearance. However, it was just all black, no other colours on his semitransparent body.

The spirit wasn't wearing a disguise hoodie or coat but just a black sorcerer garment that complemented his entire black, hair, face and hands. If one included the unreal feeling he gave, they could say it was just a distorted shadow of Jasper seated next to him.

"Devil Ghost, aren't you going to get tired of sticking your nose in my castle every now and then. If it wasn't for Lady Purple, I could have killed you way long before you became such a nuisance" Jasper said icily.

His body was subconsciously releasing frightening chills as he spoke.

"I see you have something which my Emperor will greatly desire" Devil Ghost responded cooly, completely ignoring Jasper's threat as though he wasn't the one being referred to.

"Why would I be in possession of something an assassin wants so bad" Jasper's brows arched.

"Something might not be in store but I think I got the right person, your new male servant" Devil Ghost had a smirk as he spoke.

"Him? Why would he be anything special?" Jasper sneered.

"That's nothing for you to worry about, you either hand him over to me or I get Blue to seize his soul for good" Devil Ghost threatened, his tone intent on starting a fight.

"What a joke, even little dwarfs like you now come to challenge this lord. Isn't that a disgrace?" Jasper gave a self deprecating laugh.

However, he began levitating all of a sudden; the floating runes before him began glittering with strong fluctuations. It appeared that the current event was already anticipated by him and he was only making preparations all this while.

"Impressive enough, but I wonder if this is what Lord Jasper is fully capable of as the Rainbow Lord" Devil Ghost clapped back, his figure floating in the sky as well.

To the appeal of the eye, he looked more like a black cloak dangling in the air that was probably supported through an imaginary rope. He exchanged a heated glance with Jasper, ready to fight.

....

Indoors,

Even after careful consideration and conscious treading, Adrian faced danger. He bumped into the blue pixie moments after his investigative walk.

It was an easy job for the blue pixie to arrest Adrian who was taken unawares. A line of thin blue threads stretched like sharp blade tips surrounded a room.

It was the pixie's invented trap for Adrian. The threads were too thin that without the power of magic at a higher level, one would never be able to see them with their ordinary eyes.

Adrian barged into the room by accident but next, he triggered the complicated mechanism set up by the blue pixie leaving a long piece of thread entangled round his neck.

Adrian felt sick, there was no way to scream, this had been the easiest path to death he had ever treaded on.
