Chapter 32: CHAPTER 31
Chapter 31: Whispers of Danger, Promises of Love
The warmth of Alexander's embrace still lingered on Isabella's skin as she sat by the window of his penthouse, staring at the glittering city below. It should have been a night of peace after their passionate moments together, but something felt… off.
She turned her gaze to Alexander, who stood near the fireplace, a glass of whiskey in hand, his jaw clenched as he stared at his phone. He had been like this since the mysterious message arrived.
"Alexander," she called softly, setting down her tea. "What is it?"
He didn't answer immediately. Instead, he drained the rest of his whiskey before walking toward her, his expression unreadable. He sat beside her, taking her hand in his.
"There's something I need to tell you," he finally said.
She squeezed his hand. "I'm listening."
He exhaled, his gaze locking onto hers. "The threat we're facing… it's bigger than just Victoria."
A chill ran down Isabella's spine. "What do you mean?"
Alexander ran a hand through his hair, frustration evident in his posture. "I received an anonymous message tonight. Someone warned me that Victoria isn't working alone. Someone else—someone powerful—is pulling strings behind the scenes."
Isabella's heartbeat quickened. "Who could it be?"
His expression darkened. "I don't know yet. But if there's one thing I'm sure of, it's that they're coming for us."
A Love That Cannot Be Shaken
Despite the looming threat, Alexander refused to let fear dictate their love. That night, he pulled Isabella into his arms, holding her close as they lay in bed.
"You're safe with me," he murmured against her hair.
She nestled into his warmth. "I trust you, Alexander."
He tilted her chin up, his eyes burning with an intensity that sent shivers down her spine. "No matter what happens, I need you to remember that you're mine, Isabella. Nothing and no one can take you from me."
Her breath hitched as his lips descended upon hers, slow and deep, a promise in every kiss. He wasn't just claiming her—he was assuring her, proving to her that their love would not break under pressure.
Their passion ignited, erasing the fear, the doubts, the shadows lurking in the corners of their world. For now, there was only them, locked in a love too powerful to be torn apart.
A Dangerous Invitation
The next morning, Alexander's phone buzzed with an unknown number. He hesitated before answering.
A distorted voice spoke on the other end. "Knight. You want to know who's after you?"
Alexander's grip tightened. "Who the hell is this?"
A low chuckle. "Meet me tonight. Midnight. The old pier."
The line went dead.
Alexander stared at the screen, his instincts screaming trap.
But if this was the only way to uncover the truth, he had no choice.
Isabella stepped into the room, noticing the tension on his face. "What is it?"
He debated telling her, but he had promised—no more secrets.
"I have to meet someone tonight," he admitted. "Someone who claims to have answers."
Isabella's eyes darkened with worry. "It's dangerous."
"I know."
She stepped closer, her fingers grazing his chest. "Then let me come with you."
He cupped her face. "No, my love. I need you safe."
Tears shone in her eyes. "Promise me you'll come back to me."
He pressed a fierce kiss to her lips. "I swear it."
But deep down, he knew—this meeting could change everything.
To be continued…
