Chapter 31: CHAPTER 31
Chapter 30: Love in the Line of Fire
The press conference had been a bold move—one that sent shockwaves through the media. But it also painted a target on Isabella's back.
The following morning, she stepped outside the gallery only to be met by flashing cameras and relentless questions.
"Isabella, how does it feel to steal another woman's fiancé?"
"Victoria claims Alexander still loves her—what do you say to that?"
"Are you ready for the backlash of dating one of the most powerful men in the city?"
Her hands clenched at her sides, her heart pounding. Before she could respond, a strong arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her into a familiar warmth.
Alexander.
His face was thunderous as he glared at the reporters. "Enough," he ordered, his voice sending a chill through the crowd. "You don't get to harass her."
The reporters stilled, momentarily stunned by his icy demeanor.
He tightened his hold on Isabella and whispered, "Let's go."
Sheltered in His Arms
The ride back to Alexander's penthouse was silent. Isabella stared out the window, her emotions in turmoil.
When they arrived, Alexander guided her inside, then turned to face her. "Are you okay?"
She let out a shaky breath. "I don't know."
His eyes darkened with concern. "I should've seen this coming. I should've—"
She placed a hand on his chest. "This isn't your fault, Alexander. I knew loving you wouldn't be easy."
His arms wrapped around her, pulling her close. "Loving you is the only thing I know how to do."
She looked up at him. "Then love me, Alexander. Through the storms, through the chaos. Just… love me."
Something in his gaze burned hotter. He cupped her face and kissed her—slow, deep, and consuming.
He lifted her into his arms, carrying her to the bedroom, where words became unnecessary.
For hours, they drowned in each other, proving with every touch, every whisper, every lingering caress, that their love was stronger than any storm.
A New Threat
But love wasn't the only force at play.
The next day, Alexander received a message that made his blood run cold.
Victoria isn't working alone. Be careful. – A Friend.
His grip on the phone tightened.
If Victoria wasn't the only enemy lurking in the shadows…
Then Isabella was in more danger than they realized.
To be continued…
