Chapter 8: The Cub of Black Rose
Time passed on in harmony, and every day felt like a dream. During this time, Liebe turned three, and even Gelda got married and had a beautiful baby girl. Gelda named her daughter Elizabeth Briar, and everything remained peaceful in the Black Rose territory.
Under Gelda's guidance, Liebe began learning the basics of magic. He had already mastered his magic well enough to create items with precision. But after a while, Liebe started slacking off. Whenever it was time for training, he would mysteriously disappear. In reality, he was sneaking off to play with the Ursarius. Whenever Gelda tried to find him, Liebe would hide under their thick fur until she gave up searching.
Liebe formed a strong bond with the beasts and spent his days playing with them. As a result, he often neglected his training. Sometimes, he would even play with baby Elizabeth just to pass the time.
One day, while Liebe and Elizabeth were playing, they both got tired and fell asleep. Seeing them so peacefully resting, Gelda also decided to take a nap beside them. But in the middle of the nap, Liebe had a nightmare and woke up crying. Since the others were still fast asleep, he wandered off unnoticed.
When Gelda finally woke up, she found Liebe missing. She searched the entire mansion but couldn't find him. Worried, she used her spatial magic to open a portal to the Black Rose, only to find Liebe peacefully sleeping on Lilith's lap.
"Thank God he's here," Gelda said.
Lilith smiled. "He's been here for a few hours. He just fell asleep. I swear, this kid will be the death of me someday."
Gelda sighed. "Same here. We were just taking a nap, and when I woke up, he was gone, so I came to check."
Lilith asked, "But if you didn't help him, how did he make it all the way here?"
"Maybe he just missed you," Gelda replied.
Lilith nodded. "Yeah, that's possible."
Just then, Jewel entered the room and asked, "Vice-Captain, how's the little guy doing?"
Lilith smiled. "He fell asleep, so he's doing good."
"I brought a gift," Jewel said, handing her something.
"What is it?" Lilith asked.
"It's a dragon-skin blanket."
Lilith was surprised. "Wow, thanks! That must've cost a fortune."
Jewel shrugged. "Actually, it cost nothing—I hunted the dragon myself."
Lilith looked impressed. "That's incredible. It usually takes more than fifty people to kill a mature dragon."
Jewel smirked. "I just hunted a Unidragon. Since they live in isolation, they're easier to take down. Today just proves it—only a lioness can give birth to a lion. And this—" she gently placed the blanket over Liebe, "—this is for the cub."
