Chapter 10: chapter 11:The Cafe
I woke up to the sound of my phone buzzing on my nightstand. I groggily reached over to silence it, but my eyes widened when I saw Ethan's name on the screen.
"Hey," I said, trying to sound more awake than I felt.
"Hey," Ethan replied, his voice low and smooth. "I hope I didn't wake you up."
"No, I was just... uh... getting up," I lied, rubbing the sleep from my eyes.
Ethan chuckled. "Okay, well, I just wanted to check in with you. I've been thinking about our conversation the other day."
I sat up straight, my mind suddenly alert. "What about it?" I asked.
"I just wanted to make sure you're okay with everything," Ethan said. "I know I dumped a lot on you."
I took a deep breath, trying to process my thoughts. "Honestly, Ethan, I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything. But I want to help you. I want to support you."
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, I wondered if I had said too much.
"Thank you, Camila," Ethan said finally, his voice filled with emotion. "That means a lot to me."
We chatted for a few more minutes, discussing everything from Sophia to our plans for the upcoming week. As we talked, I couldn't help but feel a sense of connection to Ethan. It was as if we were building a bond, one that went beyond just a simple friendship.
As we said our goodbyes, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held for us. Would we be able to overcome the obstacles in our path, or would they tear us apart?
As I hung up the phone with Ethan, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Our conversation had left me feeling energized and I found myself wondering what the rest of the day might hold.
I decided to spend the morning running some errands and doing some chores around the house. As I worked, my mind kept wandering back to Ethan and our conversation.
I couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for him. Despite the challenges he was facing, he seemed determined to come out on top. And his willingness to open up to me, to trust me with his secrets, had touched my heart in a way that I couldn't quite explain.
As the morning wore on, I found myself feeling more and more restless. I decided to take a break and grab some lunch, hoping that a change of scenery might help me clear my head.
As I walked into the kitchen, my phone buzzed again. This time, it was a text from Ethan.
"Hey, I was thinking... would you like to meet up for coffee later?" he asked.
My heart skipped a beat as I read the message. I hadn't expected him to ask me to meet up, especially not on a Saturday.
But as I thought about it, I realized that I would love to see him. I quickly typed out a response, agreeing to meet him at a coffee shop in a few hours.
As I sent the message, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. What would our meeting be like? Would we be able to talk more openly, now that we were outside of the office?
I spent the rest of the afternoon getting ready, trying on different outfits and doing my hair and makeup. As I looked in the mirror, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nervous anticipation.
As I arrived at the coffee shop, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. I had been looking forward to this meeting with Ethan all afternoon.
I spotted him sitting at a table by the window, sipping on a cup of coffee. He looked up and caught my eye, flashing me a warm smile.
I made my way over to the table, feeling a sense of nervousness wash over me. As I sat down, Ethan stood up and pulled out my chair for me.
"Thanks," I said, smiling up at him.
Ethan sat back down and leaned forward, his eyes locking onto mine. "So, I wanted to talk to you more about what's been going on," he said. "I feel like we didn't get a chance to finish our conversation the other day."
I nodded, taking a sip of my coffee. "I'd like that," I said.
Ethan took a deep breath and launched into a detailed explanation of his situation with Sophia. As he spoke, I listened intently, trying to make sense of everything.
As we talked, I couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for Ethan. Despite the challenges he was facing, he seemed determined to come out on top.
And as we sat there, sipping our coffee and talking, I couldn't help but feel a sense of connection to him. It was as if we were building a bond, one that went beyond just a simple friendship.
As the afternoon wore on, I realized that I had been so caught up in our conversation that I had lost track of time.
"Wow, I'm so sorry," I said, glancing at my watch. "I've taken up so much of your time."
Ethan smiled and reached out, placing a hand on my arm. "You're not taking up my time, Camila," he said. "I want to spend time with you. I want to get to know you better."
I felt a flutter in my chest as I looked into his eyes. What did he mean by that? Was he interested in me romantically?
As I sat there, trying to process my thoughts, Ethan leaned in closer, his face inches from mine.
"Camila, can I ask you something?" he said, his voice low and husky.
I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest.
"Do you believe me?" he asked, his eyes searching mine. "Do you believe that I'm telling you the truth?"
