The Black hole Chronicles: The Rift Awakens

Chapter 26: Chapter 26: The Rift’s Descent

The sky shattered.

The moment the Rift tore open again, the world seemed to hold its breath. Dark tendrils of energy spiraled downward, twisting like ethereal chains dragging something—or someone—through the breach.

Kai's grip on his sword tightened as a low hum vibrated through the air, sending ripples across the ruined streets. The Rift wasn't just reacting—it was responding.

Seraphina took a cautious step forward, her golden aura flaring. "It's not just another Hellion. This… this is something else."

Luna's eyes gleamed with sharp focus. "Then we don't wait for it to strike first."

Before anyone could react, the sky screamed.

A figure descended from the Rift, landing with such force that the ground cracked beneath them. A shockwave of pure energy rippled outward, sending debris flying. As the dust settled, the figure stood tall—cloaked in a void-like armor, pulsing with Rift energy. Their eyes glowed with an eerie silver light.

Kai's blood ran cold. "You've got to be kidding me."

The figure smirked—a reflection of Kai himself, but colder. More precise. More… dangerous.

"I told you we'd meet again," the doppelgänger said, voice laced with amusement. "Did you miss me?"

Luna's spear spun in her hand. "We barely survived you the first time. What makes you think we'll let you walk away this time?"

The doppelgänger tilted his head. "Because you don't have a choice."

With impossible speed, he moved—one moment standing still, the next appearing directly in front of Kai, his hand wrapped in crackling Rift energy.

Kai barely raised his sword in time. The impact sent him flying back.

Seraphina reacted instantly, golden glyphs appearing in the air as she hurled a barrage of light-infused projectiles at their enemy. The doppelgänger merely flicked a hand, bending the Rift energy around him, disintegrating the attacks mid-air.

Luna lunged, her spear crackling with magic. She struck fast, precise, but the enemy dodged effortlessly, twisting at the last second before delivering a counter-strike that forced her back.

Kai groaned, pushing himself up. "Yeah. This guy is still a pain."

The doppelgänger smiled. "And you're still predictable."

He raised his hand, Rift energy coiling around his arm.

"Now… let's see how far you've come."

The battlefield exploded into chaos.
