The Billionaire and Secret Vow

Chapter 16: Chapter 16

Victor clenched his fists upon hearing bad news from his subordinates.

"Damn it! They didn't come through the front door! Find out where they entered from and eliminate them now!" he ordered arrogantly.

Rafael nodded and immediately gave instructions to his troops. However, before they could react further, the sound of gunfire erupted from multiple directions!

While Victor was busy dealing with his own trap, Dominic and his team had successfully infiltrated through another route—an old tunnel connecting the docks to the underground facility.

Rebecca, who had hacked the security system of the passage, guided them through the communication devices attached to each team member.

"You need to move faster! I can only block their system for five minutes before they take back control!" Rebecca urged through the comms as she monitored from inside a vehicle.

Dominic led at the front, followed closely by Amelia, Dante, and Marco. They moved swiftly, ensuring their movements remained undetected by the enemy. Their rifles were raised, indicating they were ready for a confrontation with Victor's forces.

Dante grinned wildly, seeing their bold advance.

"Finally, we can take them down without having to play cat and mouse like before."

Suddenly, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed from the adjacent corridor. Several of Victor's soldiers emerged one by one, their weapons drawn and ready for battle.

"Enemy contact!" Dominic shouted a command.

Dominic fired the first shot, igniting a fierce battle in the narrow underground space! Amelia took cover behind a pillar, shooting accurately at the enemies. Meanwhile, Dante swiftly launched a smoke grenade to obscure the enemy's vision. Marco, calm and composed, took precise shots, eliminating his targets with a hunter's accuracy.

Seeing the situation favoring them, Dominic dashed forward, kicking one enemy and seizing his weapon before striking another with a powerful punch to his vital areas.

"Keep moving! We're almost at the control room!" Dominic commanded.

Meanwhile, Victor grew increasingly frustrated with Dominic's resistance. His meticulously planned strategy was crumbling, and Dominic was closing in on his location.

Rafael approached in haste, his expression serious.

"We need to leave now, sir. If we stay here, they will most likely win this fight."

Victor clenched his fists, his veins bulging.

"No! I will never lose to Dominic!"

A few seconds later, a commotion was heard near the entrance.

"What was that? Go check it out!" Victor ordered.

Still standing before the monitor, he frantically searched for an escape route.

Suddenly, Dominic stepped in, his weapon aimed and ready to fire. His eyes burned with fury, his muscles tensed.

"Game over, Victor," he declared with a sly smile.

Victor took a step back while Rafael quickly drew his pistol, ready to fight.

"This isn't over," Victor hissed with hatred.

Tension filled the room. The two mortal enemies glared at each other, seething with mutual loathing. Both knew that this moment was decisive.

Victor stepped back again, his eyes narrowing with hatred as he stared at Dominic, who stood unwavering before him, weapon raised. Rafael stood beside him, gun at the ready.

Dominic's finger twitched over the trigger, but before he could fire, Rafael moved faster.

BANG!

Rafael fired the first shot at Dominic. But Dominic rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding the bullet by mere inches.

Dante and Marco stormed into the room, opening fire on Rafael and the remaining guards. The room instantly turned into a terrifying battlefield.

Victor dashed behind the control desk, desperately searching for a way to activate the Omega Protocol. His fingers danced over the keyboard, trying to regain control of the system Rebecca had hacked.

A cold voice suddenly spoke behind him.

"Surrender, Victor."

Victor turned to see Amelia standing behind him, a blade pressed against his throat.

"Deactivate the Omega Protocol now, or I'll make sure you never stand again," Amelia whispered sharply.

Victor smirked.

"You think I didn't prepare a backup plan?"

Suddenly, he pressed a red button on the control panel.

ALARM BLARING.

Rebecca, monitoring from outside, paled at her screen.

"Dominic! He's activated the Omega Protocol! The city will collapse in ten minutes!" she shouted through the radio.

Dominic, in the middle of his fight with Rafael, froze upon hearing that.

"Damn it! Amelia, take him down now!"

Amelia pressed the blade harder against Victor's skin, but he was ready. With a swift move, he deflected her attack and shoved her backward, making her stumble. As Victor attempted to escape, Dominic quickly pulled the trigger and shot him in the leg.

BANG!

Victor screamed in pain, collapsing onto the floor.

"Argh!"

Seeing his master wounded, Rafael's rage ignited once more. With a furious roar, he fired his weapon mercilessly at Dominic.

Dominic tried to take cover, but Rafael's relentless shots were too fast and intense. Dante rushed to assist, but Rafael swiftly grabbed him and slammed him against the wall. Marco tried to maintain his focus and aimed to shoot, but Rafael dashed toward him and stabbed him with a knife.

Marco screamed in pain.

"Damn it!"

Seeing his friend wounded, Dominic's fury exploded. He emerged from cover, firing rapidly at Rafael.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

One bullet finally struck Rafael in the chest. The executioner of Victor staggered, his eyes wide with shock as blood poured from his wound. He clutched his chest, struggling to stop the bleeding, but his strength failed. He collapsed to his knees and fell silent. He was dead. Leaving his master helpless.

Seeing their opportunity, Dominic sprinted to the computer, where the Omega Protocol countdown continued. Only three minutes remained.

Rebecca shouted through the comms.

"Dominic! I need someone to enter the shutdown code! I'm sending it to the screen now!"

Amelia, hearing the command, crawled toward the control panel and saw the code appear on the screen. Her fingers trembled slightly, but she typed quickly.

Victor, lying on the floor, bleeding, chuckled weakly.

"You think that's enough? You only get one chance. If you input the wrong code, the system will lock automatically, and the city will plunge into chaos."

Amelia stared at the screen, pressure mounting. Sweat dripped down her forehead, and her heartbeat thundered in her chest.

Dominic gazed at her with unwavering confidence.

"You can do this, Amelia. I believe in you."

Amelia glanced at him briefly, meeting his reassuring gaze. She nodded and turned back to the monitor, taking a deep breath before entering the final code.

10… 9… 8…

She pressed ENTER and shut her eyes tightly.

The system stopped. The Omega Protocol was successfully deactivated just in time.

Rebecca cheered through the comms.

"You did it! The city is safe!"

Dominic exhaled heavily and turned to Victor.

"Game over."

Despite his weakening state, Victor smirked.

"You think you've won, Dominic? There's always someone bigger than me. You just opened the door to something far more dangerous."

Dominic stared at him coldly, unfazed by the threat.

"I don't care about your empty threats."

BANG!

Dominic shot Victor in the chest. His body stiffened… then fell lifeless.

Hours later, Dominic's team regrouped at their hideout, nursing their wounds.

Dante, holding an ice pack to his head, muttered,

"We finally took that bastard down… but I can't stop thinking about what he said."

Amelia took a sip of tea.

"You mean about 'someone bigger than him'?"

Rebecca typed on her laptop.

"I found encrypted files leading to a bigger organization. Victor was just a small part of something much larger."

Dominic gazed at them one by one before turning his eyes toward the distant view outside the window. He seemed to understand that this war was far from over.

After the shocking news of Victor's death shook the entire city, life slowly returned to normal. But Dominic knew this was only the beginning. The crimes Victor had committed for years couldn't simply be buried, and someone had to expose everything to the public.

In a secret apartment they were using as a temporary base, Rebecca stared intently at her laptop screen. Her fingers moved swiftly across the keyboard, accessing all the data she had stolen from Victor's system before they destroyed it.

"This is insane..." she muttered, her eyes widening as she decrypted the files.

Amelia, sitting beside her, frowned in confusion. "What did you find?"

Rebecca lifted her head, her expression tense. "Victor wasn't just an ordinary criminal. He was connected to a corruption network involving high-ranking officials, major corporations, and even some military elites."

Dominic, who had been cleaning his weapon, immediately turned his attention to her words. "Explain further."

Rebecca took a deep breath. "I just uncovered evidence of massive illegal transactions. The money flowed to various places—from funding criminal organizations to bribing government officials to smooth their operations. There are even records of secret projects they conducted overseas."

Dante, who had just entered with a cup of coffee in his hand, let out a low whistle. "So, we just got rid of a pawn while the mastermind is still out there?"

Marco, resting on the sofa as he recovered from their last battle, gave a weak nod. "We can't let this slide. We have to bring this to the public."

Dominic thought for a moment before finally saying, "Rebecca, compile all the data we have. We're going to expose everything to the media—let the people see the crimes happening right under their noses."
