Chapter 27: Auction
"Mr. Eight God, you're here!?"
At this moment, Level 5 Beast Master Ye Yan appeared, walking briskly toward Kent with a look of urgent distress. His eyes were bloodshot, indicating the sleepless nights he'd spent, trying to solve the problem of communicating with the violent Bloodhand Tyrant Dragon.
Despite his best efforts, Ye Yan had found it impossible to pacify the beast, and over half a month had passed without any progress. Even confined to a holding cell, he couldn't approach the Tyrant Dragon, let alone assist it in evolving.
This was the most ferocious beast Ye Yan had ever encountered. Even within the cell, he couldn't get close, much less help it evolve. Unfortunately, he'd initially spoken too confidently, and now he deeply regretted it, though he could only bear the burden himself. Fortunately, Kent's arrival gave him a glimmer of hope.
After Kent learned about the Bloodhand Tyrant Dragon's situation, he fell silent, thinking deeply.
Ye Yan anxiously watched him, his usual calm demeanor giving way to nervousness. "Mr. Eight God, what do you think? Do you have confidence?"
Kent, who possessed the divine pet evolution system, had already scanned the beast and didn't find it particularly challenging. The Bloodhand Tyrant Dragon was violent, meaning it had a flawed mind, making it susceptible to system control. This simplified the process greatly, skipping a crucial step.
As for the evolution requirement, the beast needed sufficient experience points. To evolve from silver rank to gold rank, it required 100,000 experience points. Therefore, Kent needed two bottles of high-level evolution liquid and two bottles of high-level nutritional liquid.
The former would provide about 30,000 experience points, while the latter would contribute one-tenth of that, totaling 66,000 experience points, just enough to surpass the 100,000 experience threshold.
The employer would provide these materials, so there were no issues there.
The real challenge now was consuming either his own essence blood or Garfield's essence blood to authorize the system to evolve the Tyrant Dragon. Given the dragon's enormous size and high level, the amount of essence blood required was monumental.
Kent had to decide between consuming one pound of his own essence blood or ten pounds of Garfield's. The mere thought of it made him shudder.
He hesitated but then seemed to make up his mind, showing a conflicted expression.
Ye Yan, seeing Kent's hesitation, quickly reassured him, "Mr. Eight God, if you have any difficulties, just let me know. This task has been at a standstill for me, so if you manage to complete it, the full bounty will be yours. Moreover, I owe you a huge favor for helping me out."
While speaking, Ye Yan pulled out ten bottles of high-level evolution liquid, twenty bottles of high-level nutritional liquid, and five bottles of calming agents, handing them all to Kent.
Kent, reluctantly agreeing, nodded. "Since that's the case, I'll try. However, my method is quite forceful and requires a tremendous amount of energy. The entire process must be done in private, and if successful, I need you to keep it a secret."
Ye Yan's face lit up with joy. He quickly agreed, "No problem at all. I'll make sure it's kept confidential. I'll leave you to it."
After speaking, Ye Yan and Xiao Wei left the room, while the staff handed Kent the key before departing as well.
With a deep breath, Kent summoned the system and, by default, consumed ten pounds of Garfield's essence blood. Immediately, Garfield, once full of energy, became weak and sickly, collapsing to the ground and staring at Kent with a resentful look before falling unconscious.
Kent awkwardly rubbed his nose. "Did Garfield just realize I did this?"
After putting Garfield into his storage bracelet, Kent disregarded it and used the evolution and nutritional liquids on the Bloodhand Tyrant Dragon. Under the system's control, the beast obediently consumed the liquids, and its experience points quickly reached 100,000, triggering the evolution option.
Kent promptly initiated the evolution.
The Bloodhand Tyrant Dragon roared loudly as its body expanded, growing several sizes in just a few seconds. The entire holding room could no longer contain it. It crouched down, trembling, its eyes turning a deep blood-red.
Boom!
With a single swipe of its paw, the beast struck the thick iron bars, bending them with its newfound strength.
Kent quickly withdrew the system's control. The beast, once again left uncontrolled, became ferocious, roaring and attacking the cell, seemingly trying to escape the cramped space.
Kent collected the remaining evolution and nutritional liquids before using his super camouflage ability. His complexion turned pale, and he staggered toward the exit.
"Mr. Eight God, why are you out so soon?" Ye Yan, hearing the roars, assumed the Tyrant Dragon was still struggling, worried the evolution had failed. When he saw Kent emerging so quickly, his face looked troubled, fearing the worst.
Kent casually glanced at him and said, "It was successful. Don't worry. But I'm exhausted and need some rest."
"Really? It worked?" Ye Yan was overjoyed, immediately instructing Xiao Wei, "Quick, help Mr. Eight God to the VIP room to rest. I'll join you shortly."
Without delay, Xiao Wei gently helped Kent into the room, her arms soft and graceful. Kent's heart raced a little, especially with the faint fragrance of her body in the air. He couldn't help but ask, "Xiao Wei, how old are you?"
Xiao Wei was taken aback for a moment but quickly responded, "I'm sixteen."
"Uh... is this job hard to do?" Kent asked.
"It's alright," Xiao Wei replied. "The pay is much higher than most jobs, but it requires a strong sense of self-protection because..." She trailed off, as if something weighed heavily on her.
"I understand," Kent said. "After all, this is an underground black market, and all sorts of people gather here. It's bound to be chaotic."
Xiao Wei didn't respond directly, though her eyes seemed to shimmer with unspoken stories. Despite the hardships she may have faced, she remained strong and silent.
Once they settled in the VIP room, Xiao Wei brought him a cup of unsweetened coffee. "It's a bit bitter, but it helps you stay alert," she said.
Kent took a few sips.
A few minutes later, Ye Yan burst into the room with an excited expression.
"Mr. Eight God, thank you so much! Rest assured, this matter will be kept confidential. I will send your bounty right away."
"That's good," Kent nodded.
Before long, 350,000 credit points had been deposited into his identity ring.
"By the way," Ye Yan said, "If you're not in a hurry to leave, we have a big auction tomorrow. There will be many valuable items."
"An auction?" Kent's eyes lit up. Auctions were rare, and a big one like this, especially with Ye Yan's endorsement, was sure to have some interesting items.
"Oh... I'd be happy to stay," Kent replied.
"Not at all, it's an honor to have you here," Ye Yan praised, feigning indifference. "By the way, may I ask your age, Mr. Eight God?"
