Chapter 75: Checking Up
After finishing the meat and happily enjoying the time with Habagat, Quagmire stood up, grabbed both of the empty plates and placed them on the sink, then grabbed a bucket of water from the side and proceeded to wash the plates.
Habagat, meanwhile, curiously watched over his master, and when Quagmire finished, he went over to what seemed like a refrigerator and saw some cold water. He then took a glass cup and a bowl from the cupboard and filled them with water. he placed the bowl down and drank from the glass cup, enjoying the refreshing feeling that the cold water brought after a hard day's work.
Habagat, meanwhile, upon realizing his master's intention, wagged his tail, and when the bowl was placed, proceeded to drink from it; he too enjoyed the cold water.
Upon finishing the glass of water, he went into the living room, and Habagat followed him. Upon arriving, he went for another drawer and opened it, inside it was a first aid kit, he grabbed it and started treating himself, and after finishing treating his own injuries, he treated Habagat's injuries.
With his injuries being treated, Habagat let out a soft bark with a telepathic smiley face. Upon finishing treating his own and Habagat's injuries, Quagmire stood up and moved into the bedroom, which Habagat soon followed.
Already experiencing extreme fatigue, he just flopped down into the bed and fell into a deep slumber. Habagat, seeing that his master had fallen asleep, moved and lay down on Quagmire's stomach, and he too fell asleep, satisfied, and with a belly filled with food. It was the first time that he felt so satisfied and comfortable in his entire life. Thus, he swore, he was going to protect his master even if it required his own life, though that may be in the far future, perhaps even unlikely, but nevertheless, he was thankful.
With those final thoughts in Habagat's mind, both of them fell into a deep slumber.
The night passed by quickly, and soon morning came. Quagmire woke up to Habagat licking his cheeks.
"Woof!" Habagat stated
Waking up and seeing Habagat, Quagmire let out a chuckle. It seemed that he was hungry, and so he waited for him, but looking over the window, it seemed that he had slept a little longer than usual, and so Habagat woke him up, as he was already starving.
The feeling of safety really makes wonders, Quagmire thought to himself, though it is not bad to enjoy such things from time to time; he must not get used to it, or else, just like yesterday, he might find himself getting ambushed or even backstabbed by some people.
Though he hopes that the last one would not happen, or really happen. After all, nobody likes a backstabbing bastard, which is why he must be cautious of the people he's going to trust in the future, or else it might just really happen, which is not at all commendable.
Pushing his thoughts back as Habagat started to whimper, he then brought him down and got up from his bed. After coming to the kitchen, he moved back to the counter and grabbed the cow meat and started cutting up a few slices, this time there would be additional slices, as it was already morning, and the meal on the morning is the most important as it was the one that is going to fuel him throughout the day.
Basically, in a nutshell, even if he were to skip lunch or dinner, he would still have the energy to go through the things he does every day. Even if he goes hungry, there would still be energy. It is just that the stomach is empty, it's not like all the energy is already left, it is still stored in his body as muscles or fats. It is not going to go away that quickly.
Now lost in the sea of thoughts of biology, he silently smothered the pieces of meat with salt and started cooking them. He expertly turns the meat around, and evenly cooks it throughout the sides, just like how he used to cook steak back at his own world, he does the same to the beef or steak of this world, or what he'd like to call it.
The juices served as the oil, and so with time, the meat was cooked to perfection, and after he finished cooking, he placed the meat on the plates. Once placed, he called for Habagat, who was jumping around the bedroom.
Upon hearing his master's call, Habagat stopped playing around and immediately dashed towards the living room. Knowing where he was going to eat, he jumped onto the table and sat down atop it. With saliva coming down from the sides of his teeth, Quagmire grabbed some cloth and started cleaning it, telling Habagat to save his saliva for the meat and not on the table.
"Woof!" Habagat, with a smiley face, replied, upon realizing the care and intention behind his master's reaction.
From there, henceforth, Habagat started to act more like a person, as Quagmire taught him the way of civilizations and culture.
With those things in mind and all done, Quagmire and Habagat finished their morning meal, and with a belly full, Habagat lay back down on the bed. Seeing Habagat lazing around after a meal, Quagmire let out a silent laugh and a pleasant smile at Habagat's antics. He felt it was like raising a child. Perhaps Habagat was a trial for the children that he's about to raise soon. Perhaps maybe.
Quagmire after washing the dishes, bid goodbye to Habagat, who was still lazing around on the bed, which Habagat acknowledged with a soft bark. Now that he was finally done and all, he step outside of his house and slightly left the door open, so that when Habagat wants to come outside, he could open it himself, and perhaps he should install a door which Habagat could enter and leave, so that he could finally close the door.
With that, he finally left.
