The Almighty Diva: Reborn to be Worshipped

Chapter 13: The Protector’s Folly

She had no idea that Ji Chuxing had been bullied by classmates at school. But it wasn't entirely her fault for not knowing—after all, Ji Chuxing hadn't said a word about it. So there she was, rushing to the school to apologize, only to end up making a complete fool of herself.

Ji Chuxing ignored her completely.

The faint flicker of guilt in Zhou Ru's heart was quickly extinguished by Ji Chuxing's cold demeanor.

"Xiaoxing, I'm talking to you! Did you hear me or not?"

Zhou Ru stepped closer. "What happened at school today? Why didn't you tell me anything? This whole mess could've been avoided if you'd just spoken up. Now everyone's laughing at us."

"How strange," Ji Chuxing muttered as she chewed on a piece of milk candy. "I did say something. Did you listen?"

The original owner of this body had tried to seek help before.

But what had Zhou Ru said?

Oh, the students in Qihang Class are all top talents. Don't provoke them unless you want trouble. If you hadn't done something wrong and offended them, they wouldn't have treated you so harshly.

Don't bring shame to the Wen family. Just behave yourself.

Zhou Ru was left speechless. Ji Chuxing, uninterested, turned and walked away.

Realizing her mistake, Zhou Ru hurried after her. "But what happened today really was your fault! If you'd told me properly, would I have just stood by and done nothing? I'm your mother!"

"You're hardly acting like one."

A cool voice came from behind Zhou Ru.

Bo Yanchen appeared, pushed forward by Fang He. The man still wore his elegant attire, the Buddhist prayer beads on his left wrist gleaming under the light.

Zhou Ru stared at him in disbelief. "Second… Second Master Bo…"

Bo Yanchen paid her no mind and gestured toward Ji Chuxing. "Come here, kid."

Reluctantly, Ji Chuxing shuffled over and stood beside him.

Noticing the girl's subdued energy, Bo Yanchen gently took her hand.

Ji Chuxing tried to pull away, but he held firm. His protective intent was unmistakable as he fixed Zhou Ru with a calm yet icy gaze. "Mrs. Wen, if I recall correctly, this girl is your daughter. But you don't act much like a mother. She gets bullied, and instead of standing up for her, you blame her for not telling you sooner?"

Zhou Ru's voice faltered as she gawked at the scene unfolding before her.

Ji Chuxing knew Bo Yanchen—and he was protecting her!

Why had she never mentioned this?

"Second Master, it's all a misunderstanding! I didn't know Xiaoxing knew you…"

Is that even relevant now?

Bo Yanchen seemed to understand exactly where Zhou Ru was coming from.

"You're truly unfit to call yourself her mother."

Ji Chuxing chimed in quietly. "She isn't."

This woman wasn't her real mother; she belonged to the previous owner of this body. But even before her death, the original owner had already given up on having a mother.

Bo Yanchen smiled faintly. "True enough. The granddaughter of Elder Ji has no ties to your Wen family. Since you can't fulfill the role of a proper mother, there's no need for you to concern yourself with my little girl anymore. I'll make sure the granddaughter of Elder Ji is well taken care of."

With that, Bo Yanchen turned and left, taking Ji Chuxing with him.

"Let's go, kid."

Ji Chuxing lowered her gaze and obediently followed behind Bo Yanchen.

Hmm… It felt strange being protected like this.

After getting into the car, Bo Yanchen handed her a large jelly cup and carefully peeled off the wrapper for her. "Everything at school has been settled. They won't bother you again. Your guardian contact number has been changed to mine. Rest assured—no one in Southern City will dare to bully my little girl from now on."

Ji Chuxing blinked, silently accepting the jelly and beginning to sip it.

"Why so quiet?" Bo Yanchen's lips curved into a teasing smile, a stark contrast to his earlier sternness. "Aren't you going to thank your brother?"

Ji Chuxing glanced at him and blinked again. "Thank you."

"Oh? Thank who?" Bo Yanchen's mood was clearly buoyant.

Fang He, driving the car: "…Seriously?"

What the hell!

The master was shamelessly flirting with a young girl!

Ji Chuxing stole another glance at the man's striking face and swallowed nervously. "Thank you, Second Brother."

Bo Yanchen looked thoroughly pleased and reached out to pat her head. "Good girl."

Ji Chuxing: "…."

Fang He: "…."
