The Accidental Savior

Chapter 6: Wait, Hold On a Second

Nick Romero froze mid-step as he stood before the glowing Fairy Tail and DanMachi doors, his mind racing with new concerns.

"Okay, wait a minute," he muttered, turning toward the Good God, who remained silently radiant nearby. "I've got questions. Big, important, world-breaking questions."

The Good God tilted their shimmering form slightly, as if encouraging him to speak.

Nick pointed toward the DanMachi door, its soft blue glow now looking far more intimidating. "Bell Cranel is seven in this timeline, right? So does that mean I have to follow him everywhere like some glorified babysitter? Or can I just do my own thing in Orario while he, I don't know, learns how to hold a knife?"

The Good God's light pulsed faintly. "You are not required to remain by Bell's side at all times. However, his journey is integral to the balance of the world. Your presence must support the unfolding of events, whether directly or indirectly."

Nick frowned. "So, I can wander off, but if Bell trips over a rock and dies while I'm not looking, it's still my fault?"

"Essentially, yes," the Good God replied.

Nick groaned, dragging a hand down his face. "Great. So, I'm basically Bell's cosmic babysitter, but with more freedom to screw up. Wonderful."

Nick shifted his attention to the Fairy Tail door, the emblem glowing cheerfully in contrast to his growing dread. "And what about this one? Is the main character Natsu or Lucy? Because that makes a huge difference in how I approach this."

The Good God tilted their form. "Both Natsu and Lucy are pivotal to the story. While Lucy serves as the narrative's entry point, Natsu's actions drive much of the guild's events."

Nick stared blankly. "So... both?"

"Correct."

"Fantastic," Nick muttered. "So, I have to deal with Natsu burning everything down while Lucy's trying to write her novel. That's not a recipe for chaos at all."

As his initial panic settled, a far more practical concern hit Nick like a truck. "Wait... I don't have money. Like, at all. How am I supposed to survive in these worlds? Are they just handing out free food and shelter to random kids?"

The Good God paused. "Each world has its own economy. You will need to integrate yourself into these systems to sustain your journey."

Nick blinked. "Integrate? So, what, I have to get a job? Do they even hire seven-year-olds?"

"Fairy Tail offers a supportive guild structure where missions provide monetary rewards," the Good God explained. "In Orario, earning income through adventuring or labor is common."

Nick groaned again. "Right. Because sending a seven-year-old into a dungeon full of monsters screams responsible employment."

Another realization struck him, and his groan deepened. "Hold on. What about the language? I'm a Latin kid who knows Spanish, English, and a little French. These worlds are all in Japanese, right? How am I supposed to communicate without turning into the worst version of Google Translate?"

The Good God's light pulsed. "Your summoning into the multiverse has adjusted your comprehension. You will understand and be understood in each world's primary language."

Nick's eyes widened. "Wait, I get magical subtitles? Why didn't you lead with that?"

Nick glanced back at the two glowing doors, gripping the pendant tightly in his small hand. "Alright. Fairy Tail is still a safe bet. DanMachi... not so much, but the falna system is too good to pass up."

He took a deep breath, stepping toward the Fairy Tail door, when another thought struck him.

"Wait, hold on," he said, turning back to the Good God. "What if I just go to the Pokémon world instead? At least there I get a starter and don't have to worry about rent."

The Good God's light dimmed faintly. "Your choices have already been made."

Nick scowled. "Right. Cosmic rules and all that."

With a sigh, he reached for the Fairy Tail door, muttering under his breath. "If this goes south, I'm blaming you. Again."
