Supreme Corps

Chapter 3: Lucky Escape

"What, what do we do now?" A lady asked, shivering with fear.

"Run!" The driver did not waste any time, taking action as he spoke.

The lady ran after the driver, seeing this, the others did the same as well.

The driver panicked when he saw them running in the same direction as himself, and hurriedly exclaimed, "Don't come in this direction, go separate ways."

Hearing his words, the others realized that he was right. If they ran in the same direction, given the strength of Siliks, they would be able to kill all of them, but if they had to hunt down different groups, then the chances of each person's survival would increase by a bit.

Taking the driver's advice, everyone split up. Alan, Ezekiel, and three others ran in the same direction.

One of the Siliks was already out of the bunker, it was what destroyed the truck. It quickly caught a young man who lagged behind, ripping him apart slowly as his screams of pain spread out. Supremes were stronger and faster than normal humans, so if even the one armed man could not escape his fate when he was caught by this Silik, there was no chance for any of these people to survive if caught.

….

In the woods.

The figures of Alan and Ezekiel flashed past a tree, accompanied by three other youths painting heavily as they ran for their dear lives.

Bang!

The sound of a tree being blasted apart resounded not far from them. Exchanging glances, they tried to increase their speed, but they were already running as fast as their legs could carry them.

They did not dare to stop, praying the Silik chasing after them would stop or go after others.

Coming out of the woods, they saw a large open field. Ezekiel's eyes brightened as he urged, "This way."

In the direction Ezekiel faced, a rail track could be seen, following the track, a tunnel could be seen up ahead, a tunnel the rail track passed through.

They could hear the chittering sounds made by the Siliks and knew that it was getting closer.

Ezekiel was the first to charge into the tunnel, Alan did not waste any time, rushing in after Ezekiel. Although it was the middle of the night, the tunnel was still well lit thanks to the full moon.

The Silik chasing them suddenly made a strange chittering sound, different from the one it usually makes before its speed almost tripled. The three youths behind Alan and Ezekiel naturally tried to follow them into the tunnel. The two young men were successful, but the young lady in the group was slower than the others, and the Silik caught up to her in an instant. She could not fight back and was grabbed by the Silik.

"Ah! Help me!" She shrieked in horror as she tried to free herself from the Silik's grip, but this only made the Silik irritated and it snapped her neck.

The four young men ahead all tensed up when the voice of the young lady died down. They all knew it meant she was most likely dead. Which meant they were the Silik's next target.

Ezekiel did not flinch, his eyes focused on the door that could be seen on the pathway that was on the right side of the tunnel, rushing to the door, he opened it, "This way."

Alan and the three youths followed Ezekiel through the door.

The Silik discarded the body of the young lady and rushed after them, but it was too late and the opening made for the door was too small for it to pass. Using its powerful claws, it destroyed the door, making the opening bigger as it squeezed its body through.

Just as it gave chase in the corridor before it, a large item fell from above, forcing it to the ground.

Bang!

On the other side of the corridor, Ezekiel, who was holding a torch light, was already opening the door when he heard the sound of something large hitting the ground. He did not need to turn to know that it was the Silik, not slowing down, he said while rushing through the door, "That should slow it down, hurry!"

"Ezekiel, what was that?" Alan could not contain his curiosity. Even though he was almost out of breath, he was still curious about what Ezekiel might be talking about.

On the other side of the door was a slightly bigger corridor with multiple doors. Ezekiel ran in the direction of the fifth door on the left as he explained, "I set a series of traps here in my free time in case a situation like this came up. I didn't think I would ever have to use it."

The fact that Ezekiel could think so far ahead impressed Alan and the other two young men following them. Even though they all knew that there is a possibility their settlement would be attacked, none of them prepared like Ezekiel. Preparing this trap meant that he had to take the risk of coming out of the bunker alone without the one armed man which was no different from suicide. There was also the time it took to make these traps.

Multiple sounds rang out in quick succession behind them as they advanced.

Screech!

The Silik screeched loudly, clearly enraged by Ezekiel's antics.

"You provoked it." One of the young men behind them said fearfully.

"It's going to try to kill us anyway, why make it easy for it?" Ezekiel shrugged as he placed his hands on the fixed ladder before him, climbing as fast as he could.

Alan and the others followed behind him. His traps must have slowed down the Silik as all of them were able to climb out of the exit. Immediately the last person climbed out, a light beam shot out from the opening. The youths emerged in a building made mostly with steel that was around two hundred square meters or so.

The attack of the Silik crashed into the ceiling, rocking the place. It was impossible for the Silik to pass through the opening they used, unless it widened it, and that was exactly what it planned to do as it increased its attack. The continuous attacks of the Silik as it tried to force its way through the opening made the roof shake vigorously.

"Oh no, it wants to tear this place down, run!" Ezekiel yelled when he saw the cracks spreading above them.

All four youths ran towards the exit of the building, none daring to stay there any longer.

As they escaped, the Silik continued sending out light beams, as it tried to force its way past the opening. Unfortunately, it was simply too large. What annoyed it more was that the upper half of its body was stuck because it had managed to partly squeeze through, but only half of its body was able to go through. It struggled, releasing one attack after another.

Alan, Ezekiel, and the two young men managed to exit the building before it came crashing down. They all turned to look at it, praying this was enough to stop the Silik from chasing after them. Outside the building, they were welcomed to the sight of a City. With no other option, they headed into the City, moving away from where the building they climbed out from.

They needed to locate a safe place to hide in the City and try to figure out what their next course of action would be.

They found a good hiding place about thirty minutes later, and with Ezekiel taking the lead, they entered the building. This was a place they were a bit familiar with as they have come here a few times over the years. .
