Chapter 607: Chapter 606: The Union of Light and Darkness
Constantine and the Hell Baron had never been to this skyscraper before. Unbeknownst to them, it was the site of Angela's sister's death. Angela had also been brought here, suggesting some special arrangements were in place.
"This place reeks," the Hell Baron remarked, frowning. "But are they really here? I don't sense any life inside."
"I don't either, but my tracking spell points right here," Constantine replied, using a spell he'd come to trust, despite the disconnection with Robert. He scrutinized the building, trying to identify any anomalies.
Both men felt uneasy as they could only detect the foul odor similar to that of the Hell Dimension, with no sign of life. It was a peculiar situation, with the spell indicating one thing and their senses another.
"Shall we go in?" the Hell Baron asked, noticing Constantine's growing frown.
"Of course. We can't just stand here. Let's go!" Constantine decided, confident with backup on the way. They entered the building, ready to deal with the lesser threats and draw out the mastermind.
Inside, the environment immediately changed. The foul odor intensified, mingling with a strange scent that clouded their minds. Both Constantine and the Hell Baron realized something was wrong, but they couldn't communicate as they found themselves in different locations.
Constantine quickly enveloped himself in a protective light, isolating himself from the intoxicating scents and any other manipulative forces. As the strange scent dissipated, Constantine regained clarity and noticed the Hell Baron was gone.
"Good luck, buddy. Looks like we hit the right spot. I need to find Angela fast. You're tough, but Angela's just a regular person, even with her spiritual potential," Constantine muttered, following the direction indicated by his tracking spell.
The Hell Baron, though stronger than Constantine in raw power, was struggling due to the mysterious abilities at play. His usual brute strength was less effective here, as he couldn't pierce through the illusions and mental fog.
The Hell Baron's struggle continued as he felt increasingly disoriented. His surroundings seemed surreal, as if in a dream, making it hard to react swiftly to threats. Suddenly, an enemy appeared—a demon who had previously captured Angela.
"Traitor! A demon from the Hell Dimension consorting with humans! You deserve death!" the demon sneered, recognizing the Hell Baron as an adversary.
The demon attacked, and the Hell Baron, sluggish from the effects of the environment, could barely defend himself. The demon's blows landed repeatedly, opening wounds on the Hell Baron.
"Who... who are you to ask? If you want to fight, let's fight..." the Hell Baron taunted, despite his condition.
The demon, however, noticed something peculiar about the Hell Baron's blood, indicating a powerful lineage. "Such potent blood! What are you really?"
"None of your business!" the Hell Baron growled, still defiant.
The demon, seeing an opportunity for power, became greedy. "If I consume your bloodline, my strength will soar!"
Realizing the potential, the demon attacked with renewed vigor, aiming to consume the Hell Baron and claim his power.
The Hell Baron, now weaker and more disoriented, struggled to fend off the attacks. He felt his strength waning as his blood was drained, his body and mind both betraying him.
Meanwhile, Constantine arrived at a large door, the final barrier to Angela's location. "This must be it. Can you pinpoint my location?" Constantine tried to communicate with the guardian but received no response. The building seemed to block external communication and magic.
"Dammit, am I going to die here?" Constantine muttered, contemplating whether to proceed. But he quickly resolved to act, confident that he wasn't afraid of death, as many dimensions would fight over his soul if he did die.
Pushing open the door, Constantine saw Angela floating in a pool, seemingly unconscious. "Damn it!" he cursed, rushing towards her, realizing something was terribly wrong.
As he approached, a powerful demon emerged from the pool, attacking Constantine. The demon was as strong as the ones the Hell Baron had previously fought.
With his mystical chains broken, Constantine struggled against the demon, his new tools inadequate to subdue it. The demon taunted Constantine, knowing of his reputation in the Hell Dimension and the interest many Hell lords had in his soul.
"You should step aside, or I'll show no mercy," Constantine warned, fumbling for something in his pocket.
The demon, unperturbed, mocked Constantine, waiting to see what he could do. Constantine pulled out a cross and chain, the remnants of his destroyed mystical chain, now a makeshift talisman.
The cross and chain began to glow, and Constantine muttered incantations. The demon's confidence wavered as he tried to escape the growing light but was caught and disintegrated.
Constantine, not wasting time, rushed to Angela, who was holding a dagger-like object. The dagger was absorbing the light, while dark energy emanated from Angela's body, merging with the light, creating a balance of light and darkness.
