Superman's Saiyan little brother

Chapter 400: Chapter 400: Decisions and Brainwashing

After getting a response from Vandal, Thor didn't say much more and didn't release Vandal directly. Instead, he chose to leave. The reason was simple: the other three might not agree with Thor. If Hogan, Volstagg, and Sif ultimately agreed to Thor's request to stay on Earth, it would be a joyous occasion. However, Thor knew that this might not necessarily succeed.

Moreover, if it did succeed, Thor wouldn't lose anything by keeping Vandal imprisoned, avoiding many unforeseen issues. This approach showed that the current Thor was very different from the previous one.

"..." Vandal watched Thor leave and glanced at the door of his cell, falling silent. He realized why Thor claimed he had changed. If it were the old Thor, he wouldn't have even spoken to him through the cell; he would have released him immediately. But now, even after negotiating, Thor didn't plan to release him and simply left.

Even though Thor didn't say anything, Vandal guessed where Thor was headed. However, Vandal only sighed and didn't feel displeased. In fact, Vandal felt that the current Thor was more like a qualified king, whereas the old Thor was merely a qualified warrior brute.

On the other hand, Thor soon met Hogan and Volstagg. Although the personalities of the Warriors Three varied, their life goals were similar. Thus, Thor didn't need to change his words much and easily persuaded Hogan and Volstagg with the same speech.

However, this approach worked with the Warriors Three but not with Sif.

"You want to build a new Asgard, one that surpasses the old Asgard?" Sif frowned at Thor's proposal, questioning him.

"Yes! Not just me, but we will build a new Asgard together!" Thor nodded seriously, promising her.

"Why do you think you can achieve that? Creating a new Asgard, let alone one that surpasses the old one, isn't easy. A new world tree, a new rainbow bridge, a new pantheon, a new divine realm—can you create these?" Sif asked, staring deeply at Thor.

"I don't think you can. You're not an omnipotent god, not even a multi-deity god. You're just the God of Thunder. Only by becoming the King of Asgard can you fully wield Odin's power and make your abilities more complex..."

"But if you don't return to Asgard and stay in Midgard, the one who will become the King of Asgard and inherit Odin's power will be Loki. As the God of Thunder, you can't create a new Asgard!" Sif didn't directly refute Thor but listed things he couldn't accomplish, telling him that his ideas were mere fantasies.

Hearing Sif's words, Thor opened his mouth slightly. He had indeed been painting a rosy picture of creating a new Asgard, but he genuinely wanted to establish a new foundation of his own. However, after hearing Sif's words, Thor realized it wouldn't be easy.

"Just because I'm the God of Thunder doesn't mean I can't do what you're saying. Asgard was created from nothing; if our predecessors could do it, why can't we?" Thor quickly composed himself, taking a deep breath and retorting seriously.

"That's one reason I didn't agree with you. You're completely ignorant about these things and want to achieve them without understanding the reasons..." Sif sighed, looking at Thor.

"You say you've changed after some brainwashing and memory influence, becoming a new Thor. But to me, only the old you, who fought with us, was truly different. The current you is no different from before!"

"You still act on assumptions. I don't know why you want to stay in Midgard or create a new Asgard, but clearly, you haven't thought about how difficult it is or how to accomplish it. You're just wishfully trying to do these things..."

"I..." Thor wanted to argue but couldn't find the words. He frowned, unsure of what to say.

"You think what your predecessors achieved, you can too, which might be true. But the problem is, the era now is entirely different from theirs!" Sif's eyes showed a hint of divine power, and a mysterious force seemed to rise within her.

"You should realize that Midgard now is completely different from the Midgard recorded in Asgard. There are many strong beings here, and the era of needing faith and gods for survival has passed!"

"The existence of Asgard and many other pantheons was due to humanity's need for faith and gods at a certain point in civilization. But now, faith and gods are no longer essential for humanity's survival..."

"Creating a new Asgard isn't impossible, but you can't achieve it on Earth. Even if no one on Earth opposes you, you still can't do it because the times have changed..."

"If you truly want to follow through with your plans, you could return to Asgard and use the Rainbow Bridge to find a less advanced civilization and build a new pantheon and faith system there..."

"Hmm? No, you're not Sif! Who are you?" Thor, pondering over Sif's speech, suddenly realized something was off.

Sif's knowledge was indeed more extensive than that of Thor and the Warriors Three, but it wasn't at Loki's level, let alone having such an in-depth understanding of divine systems and Earth's faith development.

So, while Sif was speaking, the content definitely wasn't her own thoughts!

"What did you say?" Sif's eyes instantly lost that divine and mysterious quality, and she looked at Thor with confusion, "I am myself. Who else could I be? Have I been brainwashed like you?"

"Do you know what you just said? You don't want to stay?" Thor asked seriously after a moment of silence.

"That's right. I don't want to stay. Asgard is where we belong. A true dragon can't thrive in shallow waters. If you want to achieve great things, staying in Midgard won't work!" Sif nodded firmly, looking at Thor with determination.

"You also said Midgard has changed. Even if I don't know much now, I know it's a new era, and it might just suit my growth!" Thor shook his head slowly, smiling at Sif.

"You said our predecessors built Asgard with the faith system of Midgard. So, in this new era, why can't I, a successor, take advantage of this era's wave to achieve something great? Father?"

"Father? His Majesty? Is he here?" Sif was stunned, looking around and shouting, "Your Majesty, please take us back to Asgard. Let Heimdall lower the Rainbow Bridge!"

"..." Sif's voice echoed in the cell, but no one responded, including Thor, who remained silent.

Thor had guessed that the previous speech wasn't from Sif but either Heimdall or Odin. Based on the tone and content, Thor believed it was likely his father, Odin.

However, since Odin already knew his intentions, there was no need to hide them. As long as Odin didn't forcibly take him back to Asgard, it was fine.

As for Sif, Thor also decided to leave her here. After all, Sif's decision to return to Asgard was her own. This meant the Warriors Three were willing to stay, but Sif was not, rendering Thor's efforts in vain.

Therefore, Thor ultimately decided to brainwash all four of them, reprogramming them to be new Asgardian warriors, injecting them with super soldier serum to enhance their strength further.

The reason for brainwashing the Warriors Three, despite their agreement to stay, was simple. They were too familiar with Sif. If they stayed unbrainwashed and encountered a brainwashed Sif, they would surely notice something was wrong, creating more trouble. So, it was better to brainwash all four together!

Of course, the brainwashing content and keywords would only be controlled by Thor. No one else would have the authority to command them. In Thor's plan, the Warriors Four would behave as usual, except for their increased loyalty to him...

"Shhh!" After Thor left the cell, a large amount of hypnotic gas was injected into the room. The Asgardians' physiques were far superior to those of Earth, with high resistance to drugs. However, the sheer volume of gas would knock out any animal on Earth instantly.

Unsurprisingly, the Warriors Four also succumbed, and the brainwashing process began.

"Sigh!" In Asgard, Odin sighed helplessly. He didn't intend to stop Thor from acting against his comrades, just as he hadn't stopped Loki from backstabbing Thor.

Since his way of teaching had failed, he would let Thor choose his own path. Anyway, he could hold on for a few more years. As Asgard had already declined, it didn't matter if Thor didn't return.

The brainwashing of the Warriors Four wouldn't be quick, especially since they needed to retain most of their memories while instilling absolute loyalty to Thor. It would take time.

Meanwhile, after being notified by Tony Stark, Steve Rogers happily returned to the USA with Bucky, leaving London.

It wasn't that Steve disliked London or Peggy Carter, but he had lived there for decades and, though used to retirement, longed to contribute again.

Upon hearing about Hydra and Tony Stark's plans to form an alliance, Steve was eager to join.

Steve shared Tony Stark's view that if a superhero alliance was inevitable, they should create it themselves. Why work for others at their age?

When he first became Captain America, Steve had to follow orders. Now, at his age and with his experience, he didn't want to be anyone's tool.

Steve knew the nature of those so-called superiors and had no intention of taking orders anymore.

In the USA, no one had higher status or connections than Steve. If he wanted to, he could lead many initiatives and even become a powerful figure in the White House, especially with Stark Industries' backing. Though he currently had no such ambition...
