Chapter 154: Avengers XIX
"Okay, that's enough," Dave said, clapping his hands together, sending a shockwave that knocked Tony back. When Tony sat up, he looked directly at Aizen, particularly at his seemingly untouched state. "You can even regenerate your clothes?" Tony asked, stunned, as he noticed his attacks hadn't even left a mark. The areas that seemed burned were perfectly intact.
Aizen merely smiled in response, his calm demeanor unshaken.
Dave chuckled, addressing Tony, "You lost, Tony. Aizen never even moved a step. It was all his illusion."
Tony's eyes widened in disbelief. "You're lying," he said, turning to Dave, who shrugged. "Check your camera footage. You'll understand."
"Jarvis, status report?" Tony asked quickly.
"Yes, sir. Multiple times I tried to recalibrate the targeting systems, but you didn't listen and kept firing aimlessly," Jarvis replied matter-of-factly.
Tony, now frowning, pulled up the combat footage. Watching it, he realized he had been attacking thin air while standing stationary, completely under Aizen's spell. His punches and blasts were nowhere near Aizen.
"Damn, that was insane," Tony muttered, finally accepting the overwhelming power of Aizen. He looked at the man again. "But are you sure you want a guy like him as a leader? Politicians will have heart attacks left and right."
"That's the point," Dave replied with a grin, nodding in approval. "Aizen will keep them in line. Nobody plays games with a master manipulator like him."
Tony sighed and shook his head. "Just make sure he doesn't put us in his illusions, alright?"
Aizen smiled faintly, his eyes glinting. "I assure you, I only act in the best interests of the organization... as long as it aligns with organization(Master) vision."
"That's... reassuring," Tony muttered sarcastically, earning a laugh from Steve and Dave.
"So, are you coming with us now?" Dave asked, glancing at Aizen.
Aizen nodded but added, "Give me some time to wrap things up on my end. I can't just abandon my dojo and vanish."
Dave and the others nodded, understanding. They walked back with Aizen, giving him the space to handle matters.
Aizen took his time over the next day, speaking with the parents of his students and ensuring the smooth operation of the dojo in his absence. He made arrangements for another trusted master to take over and assured the 200 students that their training would continue uninterrupted. Once everything was in order, Aizen was ready to leave.
The next day, as they prepared to depart, Tony noticed a little girl tagging along with Aizen. "Who's she?" Tony asked, raising an eyebrow.
"She's my adopted daughter," Aizen replied calmly, holding her hand protectively.
Tony looked at Dave who just nodded, while he was actually checking something on his system. Dave was verifying the background the system had generated for Aizen and the girl, wondering who is this little girl.
The system provided an intricate backstory: In this world, Aizen had been adopted by a kind couple. They had tragically passed away in an accident a few months earlier, leaving their young daughter in Aizen's care. The girl had no remaining family, and Aizen had taken responsibility for her as his own.
Dave also scanned the girl's altered timeline. Without Aizen's intervention, she would have been sent to an orphanage and potentially faced a grim future. However, the system ensured her fate intertwined with Aizen's, giving her a stable and meaningful life under his care.
Dave nodded approvingly after confirming everything. "Alright, let's get moving. Welcome to the team, both of you."
The girl clung to Aizen's side, shy but curious about the others. Steve smiled warmly at her, while Tony scratched his head. "Well, this just got interesting," Tony muttered under his breath.
As they boarded their transport, Dave knelt slightly to be at eye level with the little girl. "What's your name?" he asked gently.
The girl simply looked at him with wide, curious eyes but didn't respond.
"She doesn't know English yet," Aizen interjected calmly. He leaned down and spoke to her in Japanese, encouraging her to introduce herself. The girl hesitated for a moment before finally speaking in a soft, shy voice.
"Misaka Minato," she said, her small, clear voice carrying a hint of nervousness. Her cute, formal tone made the moment endearing.
Dave smiled warmly and extended his hand. "Dave Garcia," he said, introducing himself as he held his hand out. Misaka hesitated briefly before placing her tiny hand in his, shaking it timidly.
Tony and Steve watched the interaction with smiles.
"She seems sweet," Steve commented, his usual warmth evident.
"Yeah, cute kid," Tony added, glancing at Aizen. "Never figured you for the 'dad' type, though."
"She is my responsibility," Aizen replied calmly. He then added, "It's the least I can do for my benefactors." His tone carried a hint of formality as he glanced at the little girl beside him.
Both Tony and Steve nodded in understanding.
Unbeknownst to Aizen, Tony had already hacked into the Japanese government's database and accessed the files concerning Aizen. He knew exactly what Aizen was referring to and why he had taken on the role of a guardian.
For once, Tony kept his thoughts to himself, only smirking slightly as he leaned back in his seat.
"Don't worry about her," Dave said, looking at Aizen. "I'll hire a teacher to help her learn English so she can adjust to living in New York easily."
Aizen nodded slightly, his usual calm demeanor intact. "Thank you," he replied.
"It's okay. We're a team now, anyway," Dave added, giving him a reassuring look.
The group drove to a secluded area, where Dave created an eldritch portal. Moments later, they stepped through and arrived back in New York. Their car took them straight to Tony's new building, the replacement for the Avengers Tower.
"Welcome to your new home," Tony said as they approached the impressive structure.
Aizen's sharp eyes scanned the building while Minato, holding Aizen's hand, looked up in wonder.
"Sugoi!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement.
Tony raised an eyebrow at the unfamiliar word. Jarvis quickly translated, "Sir, it means 'awesome.'"
Tony smirked. "I knew that," he said, though he was secretly grateful for the clarification. With Jarvis's help, he replied to Minato in Japanese, surprising everyone.
Minato beamed, her excitement growing, while Aizen gave Tony a slight nod of approval.
