Chapter 748 Broken
The white-haired minotaur heaved a long sigh of relief. Lin Shen, the Nirvana Being, had been blasted out of the Nirvana Light Cocoon, and the cocoon itself had been shattered. Whether Lin Shen was dead or not, theoretically, Nirvana should have ended.
Yet the next second, the white-haired minotaur discovered, to his horror, that the Nirvana Light Cocoon enveloping the Ultra-Burning Star had not disappeared.
The breach he had created in the cocoon was instantly mended by threads of light conjured by the flames, and the inferno within the planet continued to rage uncontrollably.
"How... how can this be... The Nirvana Being is gone... Why does Nirvana still persist..." the face of the white-haired minotaur contorted with utter disdain.
The Elders of the Elders' Council and the Ultra-Burning Nobility hidden within various advanced structures gradually became overwhelmed with panic and helplessness.
"How can this be... it's impossible..." the Great Elder's eyes were wide with disbelief as if he'd seen a ghost. He'd never heard of Nirvana persisting without the presence of the Nirvana Being in his entire life.
The other elders too stared in terror. If Nirvana continued indefinitely, the entire Ultra-Burning Star would likely melt away, leaving no living creature except for immortals like the white-haired minotaur.
Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, the white-haired minotaur soared into the sky, rushing towards the recently-formed breach in the cocoon.
He punched the wall of the light cocoon with all his might, but this time his fist didn't break through. Instead, it only caused the cocoon wall to bulge out like a deformed balloon, creating a massive tent-like protrusion.
"This cocoon... It's tougher than before..." The white-haired minotaur's face was a mask of displeasure, yet his hands did not cease their work.
With a gesture, a Single-Horned Copper Lance materialized in his hand. He thrust the lance into the cocoon, bolstered directly by the Immortal Laws, and burst through, rushing out.
As soon as he breached the cocoon, the hole mended itself once again, and Nirvana continued unabated.
The people of the Ultra-Burn Tribe watched the white-haired minotaur break out and couldn't help but feel the grip of despair.
"Is there no hope left... Even the old general is fleeing for his life..."
Naturally, the white-haired minotaur wasn't trying to escape. He suspected that Lin Shen hadn't died, which was why Nirvana hadn't ceased. He intended to kill Lin Shen completely to see if that would halt Nirvana.
The white-haired minotaur had thought that Lin Shen had been blasted far away by his Eternal Force, but as soon as he exited the cocoon, he saw in space a point of light twinkling like a star.
The white-haired minotaur pursued rapidly and, as he drew close to the light, the sight before him made him pause.
Lin Shen's body had returned to normal, no longer flattened like before from the attack. The strength endowed with the Eternal Force Law, however, had vanished from his body.
Lin Shen was suspended in the pitch-black vacuum, still enshrouded in burning flames; but now the flames were not as dense as before. They shimmered around him transparently, like ripples on water.
What puzzled the white-haired minotaur was that Lin Shen's body had already become a Base Mutation Body, and the entire entity looked as though it were a red-hot iron block—otherwise, he wouldn't have been flattened like a thin sheet, yet still alive.
But now, Lin Shen's body had reverted to flesh and blood, and even the carapace that had enclosed him had vanished.
The white-haired minotaur didn't understand what was happening with Lin Shen. By normal standards, Lin Shen's Nirvana should have been a failure.
If it had been successful, Lin Shen should have transformed into a Base Mutation Creature, completing Nirvana in that form.
Moreover, with such terrifying Power of Nirvana, even if Lin Shen had accomplished Nirvana, it would be very difficult for him to revert to human form. He might have to live on forever in the form of a Base Mutation Creature, in a non-human state.
Lin Shen had finally reverted back into human form, yet the Power of Nirvana had not dissipated from his body, indicating only one possibility: Nirvana had failed.
"Could it be that my attack knocked him out of the Nirvana Light Cocoon, causing his Nirvana to fail?" the white-haired Minotaur wondered.
Whether this was the cause or not was something he no longer wished to investigate. All that mattered now was killing Lin Shen; nothing else was of importance.
The white-haired Minotaur swung his Single-Horned Copper Lance at Lin Shen, its speed and strength off the charts, as if the very void was being torn asunder by the lance.
Lin Shen had no chance to dodge as the Single-Horned Copper Lance struck down on his head.
However, contrary to expectations, Lin Shen's head did not explode like a watermelon.
The white-haired Minotaur's eyes bulged, revealing an expression of disbelief and horror.
His Single-Horned Copper Lance had truly struck Lin Shen's head, yet it was not Lin Shen's head that split open, but the lance in his hands.
This Immortal-Level Life Base shattered upon contact with Lin Shen, the tip disintegrating into countless particles, scattering like sand.
The white-haired Minotaur could not accept this outcome. He raised his lance once more and furiously smashed the remaining part towards Lin Shen's body.
Thud! Thud!
The Single-Horned Copper Lance, an Immortal Life Base, struck Lin Shen from different angles. Yet Lin Shen stood there unmoved, as if nothing had happened.
Meanwhile, the lance continued to disintegrate, as though it was not an indestructible Life Base but rather a piece of tempered glass that had already been shattered to bits, only to break upon contact with Lin Shen.
Initially several meters long, the Single-Horned Copper Lance shattered piece by piece under the white-haired Minotaur's frantic blows, quickly reducing to a mere foot-long segment in his hand as he now stood before Lin Shen.
Facing Lin Shen, who stood motionless with no expression, as if he were a robot, the white-haired Minotaur felt an inexplicable fear rising within him.
The white-haired Minotaur stood staring dumbly at Lin Shen, who was arm's reach away, feeling fear towards this newly reborn human, a newborn Nirvana Being.
But was this really a normal Nirvana Being? He wielded an Immortal-Level Life Base, a Divine Weapon infused with Immortal, indestructible Eternal Force.
Such a Divine Weapon shattered against the defenseless flesh of Lin Shen instead of the other way around. The white-haired Minotaur could not understand, nor could he accept it. This defied centuries of understanding and nearly upended his entire worldview.
Lin Shen stood right before him; all he needed to do was raise his hand to strike Lin Shen in the face, possibly shattering Lin Shen's skull along with his face. Yet he hesitated, afraid to launch another attack on Lin Shen. He feared his hand might crumble to dust just like the Single-Horned Bronze Man's lance.
The two stood face to face in silence, each unmoving, creating a strangely quiet and eerie atmosphere.
Clinching his teeth, the white-haired Minotaur knew he could not wait any longer. He had to kill Lin Shen, or else the home planet of the Ultra-Burn Tribe would be doomed.
The Immortal Laws and the Power of Nirvana erupted simultaneously, the white-haired Minotaur's hair whipping wildly, his horns flashing with terrifying brilliance. His eyes emitted a red glow as dreadful power surged within him, the space around bending with his escalating force.
With a roar, the white-haired Minotaur, clutching the last remnant of the Single-Horned Copper Lance, lunged at the chest of Lin Shen, who was mere inches away.
The glow from within the Life Base burst forth brilliantly, like the sun, radiating an eternal and dazzling divine light.
