Chapter 626: Golden Generation
Nathan blinked his eyes a few times. "To think that everyone gathers when you guys are so young… I can't imagine such a scene."
"I know, right?" Bella chuckled. "Back then, people were calling us the golden generation."
"Golden generation?" Nathan tilted his head in confusion.
"Yes. Among all the students, there are a total of 6 people who are talented enough to become a world class summoner."
"Really?" Nathan crossed his arms. "I guess they're 2nd and 3rd year students only."
"Indeed. More will have to be observed." She nodded. "In our generation, we have Evelyn, Jay, and one more classmate, Sebastian. In Vivian's generation, there are Vivian, Melissa, and one more 2nd-year student called Rosa."
"Hmm? They're all that talented?"
"Of course. Even though Jay didn't look like one, he was one of the most talented in our generation. He was well-mannered and had a lot of connections. His achievement was so glowing that he could stand toe-to-toe against Evelyn's overwhelming talent.
"Vivian was extremely talented back then. In fact, she was the top of the 2nd year, always fighting with Melissa for the top.
"If all of them were growing well, they should be able to become a world class summoner in their thirties or forties.
"If you look at your current generation, can you think of the names who have the potential to become a world class summoner? Your existence has changed the course of fate, but before having contact with you… What do you think about Flora and Noelle?"
Nathan looked down, falling into deep thought. "I have no doubt that Noelle will become one eventually, but I'm not entirely sure about Flora. In the end, she is a princess, and she will be occupied with her duty. She has never considered Noelle as her rival as well, but she doesn't strive to become a world class summoner.
"But right now, it's different. And she even asked Melissa to teach her…"
Bella smiled gently. "Why are you making that face? Do you think Melissa's character is questionable?"
"Well…" Nathan scratched the back of his head. "At least, her ability is a real deal if she has the potential to become a world class summoner."
Bella inhaled deeply before exhaling the smoke to calm her nerves. Still, it didn't wash away the sadness on her face. "I know what happened. Although I don't want to tell you to do something for her, please at least be a bit considerate. Her character wasn't like that in the past. It was just… the Bloody Banquet… broke her."
"Broke her?" Nathan's body shook.
"Out of five people, only one survived." Bella's tone became cold.
"!!!" Nathan's eyes were wide open. She must be implying about the number of people who survived the Bloody Banquet. According to the story, there were 100 people who were invited. Yet, only 20 of them survived?
If this was a normal banquet, it might be understandable. But they were talking about the Rising Star Banquet. The students attending this banquet were high-level students whose strength should be similar to his current level.
Yet even surviving alone took such a great effort.
Bella bit her lips. "Evelyn, of course, saved most of them. In fact, it was because of her that they had the chance to escape. Still, those who survived… were broken."
"I'm not sure about the 2nd-year student, but maybe Axel, who turned out to be affiliated with the Divine Hand. As for the first year, it would be Selena. Although Rudeus and August are talented, I can't imagine them reaching that level.
"Then, Alavenya and Sera finally come to the academy. That's all I know. I'm not sure about anyone else's potential."
"Right?" Bella smiled. Before, it was probably only Nathan, Selena, and Noelle. But because of him, the number changed drastically.
Still, the question remained. What happened in that banquet, to the point it broke Melissa?
Noticing his curiosity, Bella closed her eyes, recalling what happened when they attended the banquet.
…
When they reached the destination, Jay immediately stepped forward and announced, "Everyone. As the representatives of the Frexia Academy, we can't disappoint them.
"At the same time, this is the time for everyone to shine. That's why I will just tell you this.
"The event itself will last for five days. The first and second days are used to familiarize ourselves with the others. It's like exchanging tips and tricks as a summoner, especially during the training.

"The third and fourth days will be filled with sparring and talk between all ten academies. The last day will be the banquet.
"There's no need for you to change. Just become yourself… After all, I believe all of you are capable enough. There's no way you will bring any shame to the academy.
"That's all. I won't tell you to do other things except… let's have some fun." Jay had a big smile on his face, warming up the atmosphere.
Some of them couldn't help but smile. Despite not being the strongest, whenever Jay led them, they couldn't help but feel assured.
"Let's go. We definitely need to have some fun!" Melissa coyly hugged Jay's arm and cheered.
"Hahaha. After we drop our luggage." Jay chuckled.
As Jay said, they just did whatever they wanted while maintaining basic respect. In the first two days, they were still moving their bodies for their daily practice, which was also the time for them to share some experiences and training methods with people from other academies.
As the leading academy, it wasn't hard for the people from the Frexia Academy to find a training partner.
The discussion between academies was handled entirely by their representatives, in this case, the student council.
On the other hand, the sparring continued as planned. Obviously, Evelyn remained the strongest. A lot of people challenged her, but not a single of them managed to defeat her. Other students from the Frexia Academy also showed their strength brilliantly, winning the majority of their challenges.
The banquet had a positive mood, as most students were striving to improve. Yet no one expected that out of 100 people, only 20 of them would survive.
Even the 15 students from the Frexia Academy—only six of them were able to live past the fifth day.
