Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 69: Bloodletting Tactics

"They're quite the band of fierce bandits." Luo Zheng's somewhat youthful face flickered with a chilling murderous aura, his eyes narrowed to slits. He quickly locked onto two armed militants, struck decisively, and heard screams rise again in the darkness. Satisfied, Luo Zheng quickly retreated with his pistol drawn.

Luo Zheng, who had hunted from a young age, was very familiar with the forest. He could determine from the surrounding environment where he could and couldn't go. Under the moonlight, he moved swiftly like a lone wolf hunting in the night, using his animal-like intuition to find a viable route, quickly shaking off the pursuers by about three hundred meters. He then hid behind a large rock in a patch of open grassland, gun pointed outward, while he adjusted his breathing.

It didn't take long before Luo Zheng saw a large group of pursuers approach again. He smiled coldly in the moonlight; his smile, like a death omen. When the enemy was within two hundred meters, Luo Zheng aimed and fired, his movements crisp and fluid like flowing water. At this distance, Luo Zheng didn't need to aim but could rely on direct shooting. His hit rate was extraordinarily high.

Leading his pursuers in a chase and continuously shooting at them was a new tactic for Luo Zheng, but he found it exhilarating. Since arriving in this forest for the mission, he had been constantly suppressed by his opponents, struggling under their control. Relying on his speed, Luo Zheng firmly believed that he could wipe out all his pursuers this way.

"Bang bang bang!" Three shots rang out, and two more pursuers were hit; one died on the spot, while the other was hit in the thigh. The wounded man rolled on the ground, screaming loudly. An injured man needed two to care for him, which served to weaken the attackers' strength. Luo Zheng had heard of this method before, but it was his first time trying it—it felt very gratifying.

"Boom boom boom!" Bullets hit the rock, sparking and ricocheting wildly. The pursuers, only a hundred meters away, had spotted Luo Zheng. Bullets frenziedly shot at him, forming a barrage that pinned Luo Zheng down. Others quickly started to flank him from both sides.

Luo Zheng had no intention of fighting a pitched battle with these people. He had already planned his escape route. Seeing the pursuers splitting up, he quickly moved to a large tree nearby, quickly surveyed the surrounding trees, formulated the most sensible escape route in his mind, and ran swiftly.

The pursuers, seeing Luo Zheng attempting to escape again, roared furiously and charged forward, their bullets wildly spraying, but found they all hit trees. Even though they spotted Luo Zheng, by the time they shot, his figure had already moved several meters to another side, and when they aimed again, he was obscured by trees.

This passive situation infuriated the Commander of the pursuers. He ordered his team to fiercely pursue and bite down hard, while he also contacted others. As they chased, the sixty-person team was reduced to half still capable of fighting—a result the Commander found hard to accept. After ending the call, he picked up a weapon, and with others, once again pursued fiercely.

The infuriated people became irritable and lost their basic judgment, significantly reducing their combat effectiveness. This was exactly the effect Luo Zheng wanted. Seeing the pursuers' bullets shooting wildly behind him, many going astray, he knew he had achieved his goal. Delighted by this continuous bloodletting strategy, Luo Zheng quickly found a hidden spot to settle down, calmly observed the surroundings, and when he saw someone enter his sight, he didn't hesitate to shoot and kill.

"Bang bang!" Two gunshots. An armed militant, feeling like he had been hit by a high-speed train, staggered and then flew backward, a spray of blood jetting from his chest. The militant hit the ground hard, eyes wide open in confusion, unwillingness, and anger, dead yet appearing unyielding in death.

The pursuers had learned Luo Zheng's precise shooting skills. Upon hearing the gunshot, they all dove to the ground, looking around cautiously and no longer dared to chase recklessly. The continuous shooting calmed everyone down as panic spread, knowing that life came only once, no one dared to gamble.

The enemy did not move, and neither did Luo Zheng. He missed his Type 95 sniper rifle; if he had it in his hands with its night vision scope, he could have killed all these people. Accidentally touching the grenade hanging at his chest, he had a sudden idea, pulled the pin from the grenade, switched his AK47 to automatic fire, and then threw the grenade forward with all his might.

"Boom!" An explosion sounded, illuminating everything around. Luo Zheng took advantage of the bright light from the explosion and sharply spotted the enemy's hiding places. He decisively struck out, firing fiercely. In the silent dense forest, screams rose sharply in the darkness.

"Retreat, retreat fast." The officer, realizing he had only about a dozen men left and they would surely die if this continued, was terrified and hurriedly ordered the team to retreat frantically. Luo Zheng relaxed a bit, leaning against a large tree and gasping for breath. The battle had seemed simple but had drained Luo Zheng of a lot of energy.

Some of the wounded, unable to retreat without help, wailed in pain, calling out their comrades' names, desperately hoping for aid. Their cries sounded especially eerie in the night. Luo Zheng coldly watched in the direction of the howls under the dark night, unmoved. On the battlefield, it was either kill or be killed; mercy only hastened one's own death.

After a while, feeling his strength somewhat restored, Luo Zheng was about to go back and help Lan Xue, when suddenly a premonition of danger surged in his heart, and his back broke out in a cold sweat. He was terrified and nearly instinctively dove to the ground.

"Whoosh!" A bullet whizzed past, nearly grazing his scalp and singeing his hair, emitting a foul smell. Luo Zheng's face turned pale, his heartbeat accelerated, and he felt blood surge in his veins. He lay flat on the ground, pressing his ear to the earth, carefully distinguishing the sounds around him, as subtle footsteps slowly approached.

"A master, from the Wild Wolf Mercenary Group?" Luo Zheng was alarmed. He picked up his gun and blindly sprayed bullets toward the possible direction of the enemy. Without time to think further, he rolled up, sprinted into the dense forest, opening his mouth as wide as possible to ensure his brain was not deprived of oxygen. Putting all his energy into his feet and using all his strength, Luo Zheng knew he was not capable of facing a master; his only option was to run.

"Huh? Pretty fast runner, huh?" A tall soldier clad in a camouflage suit caught up, his face smeared with heavy camouflage paint, his forest-like eyes flashing with surprise and then excitement. The surprise turned to mockery, like a cat that had seen a mouse, his tightly closed lips curved into a mocking arc. He dashed forward, as if the darkness posed no hindrance to his sight, disappearing incredibly quickly, as if he hadn't appeared at all.
