Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 48: Becoming Special Forces

"Impressive pride, quite interesting," the brigade commander laughed, feeling the name sounded familiar as if he had heard it somewhere before, but couldn't recall anything and frustratingly asked, "Do you know where I'm taking you?"

"No," Luo Zheng replied calmly.

"Do you know what you're going to do?" the brigade commander continued to ask.

"No," Luo Zheng answered, as calmly as ever.

"Aren't you afraid I might harm you?" the brigade commander swore irritably.

"I'm not yet qualified to be harmed by you," Luo Zheng responded indifferently.

"What—!" The brigade commander hit the brakes hard, sizing Luo Zheng up and down and then turned his head to glance at Lan Xue, who was feigning sleep, and cursed irritably, "Say something, stop pretending to be asleep. What's the deal with this superb specimen? Why does this name feel so familiar? If you don't spill the beans, don't blame me for walking away."

"You're actually getting mad," Lan Xue countered calmly, but anyone could see she was holding back a laugh.

"I've never been left at a loss for words by anyone before, really a superb case, but quite interesting," the brigade commander took another serious look at Luo Zheng and said, "This guy is a weirdo, terrifyingly calm. It seems he's figured something out. Speak up, kid, don't try to play it cool with me or else I'll throw you back to the Training Team."

"Report, what would you like me to say?" Luo Zheng asked earnestly.

"You? I?" the brigade commander grasped his head in annoyance.

"Being disturbed in your emotions and judgment by an ordinary soldier, what does that tell you?" Lan Xue said coldly, but her eyes softened considerably. She quickly pulled off the silicone mask from her face, took out a wet wipe from her bag, and wiped her face. Soon, a strikingly beautiful visage appeared before them.

Seeing the familiar Lan Xue, Luo Zheng felt greatly relieved and also knew that the brigade commander and Lan Xue must have a special relationship; otherwise, she wouldn't have shown her true face. He felt even more confident in his guess about everything Lan Xue had arranged for him and sincerely looked at her with gratitude, saying, "Thank you."

"You're not allowed to say those two words again," Lan Xue said with a gentle laugh.

However, to the brigade commander, this scene seemed like the most incredulous thing in the world. He looked Lan Xue up and down and asked in disbelief, "Are you really my sister?"

"No," Lan Xue replied coldly.

"That's more like... Eh?" The brigade commander shouted in irritation, "Are you messing with me? Come clean."

"You've seen it all, is there still a need for explanation?" Lan Xue countered.

"Eh?" The brigade commander was at a loss for words, yet felt secretly delighted inside; his ice queen sister had finally come to her senses and found someone she fancied. However, his face remained stern as he said, "Very well, you two are ganging up on me, huh? Just remember, when we get back to base, I'll make sure to get even."

"Okay," Lan Xue said lightly, leaning back to feign sleep again.

"You?" The brigade commander suddenly realized what Lan Xue might be planning, probably wanting him to help train this kid. He couldn't help but smile bitterly and said, "Little sister, I know you're exceedingly clever, but do you have to scheme even against your own family? I promise to give him the strictest training in history, but what's in it for me?"

"He's your soldier, what do you think?" Lan Xue didn't fall for it and countered.

"Kid, if a year from now you can take the first place in the national Special Forces sniper competition for me, you can train however you want. All my weapons and ammunition will be at your disposal, do you dare to take this bet?" The brigade commander knew he wouldn't get any advantage from Lan Xue, so he turned his attention to Luo Zheng instead.

"Okay." Luo Zheng smiled confidently, feeling a touch of kinship when the brigade commander referred to Lan Xue as his sister.

"Brave words, what if you can't do it?" the brigade commander asked sternly.

"You can deal with me as you see fit." Luo Zheng replied seriously.

"Good, you've got the makings of a man. If you can't do it, I won't deal with you either; just strip off this uniform and get out," the brigade commander said.

"No problem," Luo Zheng agreed without hesitation.

"Very well, listen up. I'm the commander of the Military District Special Brigade. From this moment on, you're a rookie in the Military District Special Brigade. Whether you can stay on will depend on your performance. You've been given the opportunity, but for the sake of my sister's face, I hope you won't disappoint me," the brigade commander declared coldly.

"Yes, sir," Luo Zheng answered earnestly, his gaze drifting towards Lan Xue. As if sensing Luo Zheng's gaze, Lan Xue's cheeks flushed, she tightened her body, turned her face away, and pretended to be asleep again.

Seeing this, the brigade commander understood and smiled knowingly; the Ice Beauty harboring feelings for spring was definitely good news. Once the word got out, it would probably drop many jaws. Without further ado, he started the car and sped away.

Throughout the journey, there was no more idle chat. Two hours later, the military vehicle arrived at a secluded valley. The valley was similar to the Training Team's base. When the sentries saw the brigade commander approaching, they quickly saluted and let them through. Then, with an elegant drift, the vehicle came to a stop. Luo Zheng noticed that the valley was large, filled with parked vehicles and helicopters, yet no people were in sight. He didn't ask any questions.

"Bro, give me the car, you get out first," Lan Xue suddenly said.

Without asking why, the brigade commander jumped out, pointed toward a nearby stairwell and instructed, "Go up these stairs to the second floor, my room is at the end of the corridor on the left." With that, he went upstairs alone.

Luo Zheng looked at Lan Xue gratefully. Her face turned even redder, but she said earnestly, "No one will be able to find out you're here. I have to go back now. Remember our agreement."

"I won't forget for a moment," Luo Zheng promised earnestly.

Lan Xue's cheeks grew even redder, but meeting Luo Zheng's gaze, her cold eyes softened and in a gentle voice, she said, "I know you have many questions you want answered, but I still can't tell you. Just secure first place in the national sniper competition within a year, and the chance of us being together will increase significantly. Don't ask for specifics."

"I know, and I will definitely achieve it," Luo Zheng replied seriously.

"Okay, focus on your training, but don't be reckless. And, don't flirt with other girls, or I won't let you off the hook," Lan Xue warned seriously before getting out of the vehicle and making her way to the driver's seat.

Luo Zheng knew it was time for him to get out. He said earnestly, "Wait for me."

"I will, but only for two years at most. I have my reasons, two years is the limit," Lan Xue said softly, her gaze firm.

Luo Zheng didn't say anything more. He jumped out of the vehicle, watched Lan Xue drive away, and silently vowed to himself. He glanced around the silent camp, which subtly exuded an aura of solemn killing intent, as if someone was silently aiming at him. This feeling was uncomfortable. Luo Zheng straightened his military uniform and strode up the stairs...

In a hidden spot in the camp, two sentries watched Luo Zheng ascend the stairs in astonishment. One of them put away his sniper rifle, murmuring curiously to himself, "This kid is odd; he actually noticed me."

"Coach, you're the Sniper King, and you've been spotted?" the other one exclaimed in surprise.

"Continue with the covert training," another voice said irritably nearby.
