Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 120: Counterattack Against Sneak Attack

"Whoosh!" A sniper bullet, carrying endless rage, roared away; it felt as if the air around had ignited. Luo Zheng saw clearly that in the Void, a trail of energy fluctuated briefly then vanished. The man, stooping as he dashed to one side, was knocked over, disappearing without a trace; a stream of blood spurted in the Void.

"Huh!" Luo Zheng sighed in relief. With that shot, the enemy would be incapacitated if not dead. Considering the perilous situation below, he quickly aimed again, only to be shocked to see dozens of people had already charged to within about twenty meters of the Gardener. Scholar and the others were suppressed by enemy firepower, trapped in cover and unable to effectively support the Gardener. Although the Gardener, relying solely on instinct and experience, managed to shoot and hit several enemies, slowing their rush.

However, the enemy was not to be underestimated. They split into two groups; one continued the firepower suppression, making it difficult for the Gardener to respond effectively, while the other quickly flanked them. Luo Zheng was startled and immediately aimed at those flanking, decisively firing the nine remaining bullets in his rifle, each shot finding its mark. The flanking enemies were scared off. Luo Zheng sighed in relief and hurriedly reloaded his ammunition.

While reloading, Luo Zheng noticed that Scholar and his group had also held off the enemy's charge and were maneuvering towards him. With such intense enemy fire, charging forward blindly was suicidal. As for the Gardener, all hopes were pinned on Luo Zheng now. The battlefield was clear for everyone to see, and Luo Zheng's timely sniper support brought relief to everyone.

In small-scale combat, a sniper is truly a figure akin to Death God, capable of altering the outcome of the battle. Luo Zheng knew his mission and purpose; having swiftly reloaded his rifle and seeing that the enemy sniper had not made another move, he took a breath of relief and aimed at the enemies suppressing the Gardener with gunfire, commencing a series of precise sniping kills.

Powerful sniping and precise shooting once again spread panic among the enemy. The assaulting foes retreated again, demoralized. Luo Zheng then targeted enemies positioned on the hillsides to both sides; these locations were lower than his but higher than the Gardener's concealment spot. Under such heavy fire, the Gardener couldn't even retreat and had to reluctantly fire back from cover based on feeling.

After Luo Zheng had sniped another dozen or so enemies, the enemy's audacity was significantly crushed; no one dared expose themselves carelessly or stand up to shoot recklessly as before. Everyone pulled back and shot cautiously, which significantly reduced their firepower and threat.

At this moment, Luo Zheng noticed Scholar and Monk suddenly changing direction, splitting into two groups and rushing towards the slopes on one side, leaving the Farmer to continue drawing the enemy's fire. This was a maneuver to flank the enemy's rear. Luo Zheng, delighted by the tactic, continued his sniping; taking advantage of the high ground, bullets from the enemy were all blocked by the dirt slope, allowing Luo Zheng to snipe quickly and without concern, headshotting every exposed enemy.

In the heat of battle, time was hard to track. Suddenly, Luo Zheng thought of a problem and became alert. Could it be that the sniper was not from the Wild Wolf Mercenary Group? If he was, wouldn't the Wild Wolf Mercenary Group have sent more than one person? Where were the others? Could it be...?

Thinking of a possibility, Luo Zheng was shocked. He rolled away, got up, and ran to the rear slope to find a hiding spot. Peeping down, he indeed spotted two fully armed individuals alternating cover and advancing rapidly. Both were dressed in Jili suits, and the firearms they carried were not common fare like AK47s, well disguised, hard to make out clearly.

Watching the two approaching, a cold smile appeared on Luo Zheng's face. He was inwardly relieved that he had remained calm, quickly reloaded his rifle, and watched the advancing pair with a collected demeanor, ready for battle. Judging from their alternating cover tactics and speed, both were skilled and not to be underestimated.

After waiting for a while, when the enemy came within about twenty meters in a straight line, Luo Zheng prepared to make his move. From his previous observations, Luo Zheng had already mastered the advancing patterns and habits of these two men and decisively targeted one of them. Watching the enemy through the aiming device, Luo Zheng slowly lowered the muzzle to aim at the man's lower abdomen.

Once the abdominal cavity was hit, the man would not die immediately but would lose his ability to fight. The other man, realizing his comrade was not dead, definitely would not flee immediately and would try to rescue him, providing an opportunity for a second shot. Facing these experts, Luo Zheng dared not be careless; he adjusted his breathing as the rifle's muzzle followed the running man.

Through the sniper scope, Luo Zheng could see clearly. The man suddenly dashed forward five or six meters. Given the man's speed, this distance was covered in one breath. Once the breath was exhausted and the old momentum spent without new momentum generated, he would need to find a place to hide, cover his comrade's advance, and rest before continuing his rush.

Just as the man was about to dive down for cover, a terrifying blaze erupted from Luo Zheng's cold eyes. With a "whoosh," a bullet whistled out.

This enemy felt the imminent danger, his face drastically changed, and he instinctively dove to avoid it. However, his body was drained of strength, unable to transition smoothly from the sprint, his body somewhat stiff, his muscles lagging behind his thoughts by a half-beat. It was this half-beat delay that caused his body not to fully obey his mind's commands; midair, his body was struck by a powerful force and flung aside.

"Ah!" A scream rang out as the enemy writhed in pain on the ground, the powerful bullet's kinetic energy creating a bowl-sized bloody cavity in his abdomen, copious blood spewing out, his forehead covered in cold sweat, his eyes filled with fear and confusion, unable to understand why he had been hit.

After making a successful shot, Luo Zheng knew the scream would attract the other enemy's attention, so he quickly rolled to another predetermined location for better concealment, a spot that would allow him a better view of any approaching enemies. Through the sniper scope, Luo Zheng saw that the other man was hiding behind a mound with a horrified expression, unable to be effectively targeted.

Patience is a basic quality that every sniper should possess. After the shot, Luo Zheng considered that Scholar and Monk had already flanked the enemy's rear, and that Gardener's crisis would soon be resolved, freeing him from any concerns. His mind as still as water, he calmly locked onto the enemy's position.

Being targeted by a sniper is absolutely terrifying; you never know when your head might be blown off. This kind of torment can drive one to despair. Adding to this the screams of a comrade not far away, the remaining enemy hidden beneath the mound looked terribly upset, shocked that their ambush was noticed and that his comrade was successfully taken out by the sniper. It was dire enough to be hit fatally, but that the victim was left alive to scream in agony was unbearably irritating.

"Such a shrewd sniper." After coming to this conclusion, the enemy was even more distressed. Looking around, he planned to circle around and retrieve his comrade. Since the chance of a sneak attack was gone, there was no point in waiting here to die. However, there was absolutely no cover nearby and the terrain was very disadvantageous. What to do?
