Strongest Maniac: Born in an Asylum

Chapter 9: Sorry, Classmate, I've Hurt Your Pride

A major incident occurred in Class 11, Grade 2, attracting a crowd of teachers and students.

They were all baffled.

Everything had been fine one moment, and the next, everyone had collapsed on the floor. It was all very strange.

"Do you think the people in Class 2 were abducted and studied by aliens? I just saw someone being carried away by the paramedics, and they were still twitching."

"Yeah, that's a real possibility."

"The novels I read say that this looks more like a failed tribulation."

"What are you talking about? Do you think this is a cultivation novel?"

When Leo arrived at the classroom door, he noticed many students staring at him. A smile appeared on his face, and he nodded at them. Hello, classmates…

Ding-a-ling!

The bell for class rang.

The onlookers dispersed.

In the empty classroom, only Leo sat quietly.

The silence reminded him of Green Mountain.

Leo stared at the blackboard and slowly closed his eyes. He felt a current of energy flowing within him. He followed that current as it moved through his body and found that it made him feel very comfortable.

The Hundred Refinements of the Heavenly Forge.

It had shown him that cultivation was real. Although he didn't know where the technique came from, his body had indeed gotten better, stronger.

Clack, clack!

The sound of footsteps approached.

"Chen Yang, what are you doing here?" The homeroom teacher, upon hearing about the incident, had rushed over. She had just sent the students to the hospital and had come to the classroom to see what had caused it.

But she hadn't expected to find Chen Yang sitting there alone.

Leo said calmly, "Teacher, I'm waiting for class to start."

Homeroom Teacher: "..."

She noticed there was something strange about Chen Yang, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what it was. It was just… odd.

"Chen Yang, do you know what happened to them?" the teacher asked.

Leo thought for a moment. Perhaps it was like this: "I don't know either. When I turned around, I saw them all lying on the floor. I didn't realize studying could be so exhausting that it would tire them out like this. It must be very difficult."

"Well, you can study here by yourself for now," the teacher said. She had to go to the hospital to check on the situation. As the homeroom teacher, she was responsible for what had happened. If she wasn't careful, she could be criticized, and might even lose her 'Outstanding Teacher' award.

"Alright," Leo nodded, picking up a book and starting to read.

The Hospital.

The nurses were on the verge of a breakdown seeing so many students being brought in. The paramedics said it was a whole class that had been wiped out. They couldn't understand why these students, instead of studying, were playing such dangerous games.

They didn't have the same dedication to their studies as when they were young. Back then, they would have been glued to their books, with no time for anything else.

"Nurse, cut off this patient's clothes," a doctor ordered.

Zane, who was fading in and out of consciousness, heard someone wanting to cut his clothes and immediately said with great difficulty, "Don't cut my clothes. They're Armani… they're very expensive."

After saying that, he passed out.

The doctor almost roared. Armani? If you keep this up, we'll be burning a stack of paper Armani for you.

Skyworth High School.

Ding-a-ling!

The bell for the end of the school day rang.

Leo put down his textbook and walked out of the classroom. He had read several books and found their contents to be very insightful. He had learned a truth from them: to cultivate, one must be exposed to all kinds of knowledge.

It seemed that the two had no connection, but in the grand scheme of things, everything was connected.

Just as Leo was about to leave the school gates, a cute little girl with braided hair ran up to him, out of breath.

"For you."

The little girl secretly handed Leo something, then ran off, her face flushed red.

Leo looked at the folded letter in his hand. Where it opened, there was a heart sticker. Inside, there was a letter.

« Dear Chen Yang, you are a beautiful boy. I've been watching you for a long time. Others have never noticed how handsome you are. I really like you, and I hope you can be my boyfriend. »

« If you become my boyfriend, I can buy you delicious food every day. »

« Looking forward to your reply, muah. »

Leo read it for a moment, then muttered to himself, "It was once said that a mental patient is not worthy of love. I never thought someone would give me a love letter. It seems I am a beautiful existence in some people's minds."

"But I'm sorry."

"My life is dedicated to cultivation."

He put the love letter away and walked towards the school gate.

Just then.

Someone put an arm around Leo's shoulder. "Chen Yang, where are you going? Why don't you come with us?"

Leo raised his hand and covered his nose. He smelled a sour odor, the kind of smell that comes from not bathing for a long time.

He turned his head.

He searched his memory and remembered who this classmate was.

Lanky, with long, dry hair, and a look of arrogant defiance in his eyes.

Realizing that his actions might be misunderstood, Leo lowered his hand and apologized, "I'm sorry, classmate. I shouldn't have covered my nose. Your smell is the natural odor of a human who hasn't bathed in a long time. It's not poisonous, it has no offensive power. And yet I made such a gesture. I've hurt your pride. I apologize."

The tall, skinny boy, whose name was Tony, heard this, and his face suddenly turned cold. His eyes filled with anger, and he really wanted to punch Chen Yang. But remembering that they were still at school, he suppressed his rage.

"I think you're just asking for a beating. Just wait until we get outside, and see if I don't beat you to death."

The other delinquent students with Tony clutched their stomachs and roared with laughter.

They never thought Chen Yang could be so savage.

They were dying of laughter.

Tony's face turned pale. He glared at his underlings, and they immediately fell silent.

They all followed Tony for a simple reason: they didn't want to get beaten up at school, and they liked being around a big shot. It made them feel like they were on top of the world.

Who would dare to bully us? Who would dare to mess with us?

"Let's go. We'll see how I beat you up outside," Tony threatened. "If you dare to shout, I'll beat you every time I see you. Even if I get expelled, I don't care. I'll just wait for you at the school gate every day. We'll see who can protect you forever."

Leo said calmly, "Classmate, you've misunderstood. I won't shout, and I won't let you get expelled."

"Let's get reacquainted. Hello, classmate."

He extended his hand to shake Tony's.

Tony glanced disdainfully at the smiling Chen Yang, as if he were looking at a mental patient.

Passing students looked over frequently.

They recognized Tony.

He was a little tyrant at school, and it was rumored that he knew people from outside.

He always formed gangs at school and bullied his classmates.

Many people disliked him.

But strangely enough.

Many people who clearly disliked him still wanted to get close to him, as if telling others that they knew Tony was something to be proud of.

And now.

They prayed in their hearts.

I hope Chen Yang doesn't get beaten up too badly.
