Strongest Maniac: Born in an Asylum

Chapter 13: If I Scream, Will It Not Hurt?

Leo Tiger had suffered a severe emotional blow. The doctors and nurses rushed over, but they didn't know what to say. They could only offer words of comfort: You have to think things through.

Think of your children.

Think of your family.

You are their pillar of support. How can you give up now?

Leo raised his hand, smilingly signaling to the doctors that they didn't need to speak. He gently stroked Leo Tiger's head. He could understand Leo Tiger's current state. If he were to be stimulated any further, he might cross the threshold into the world of mental illness.

The threshold of a mental asylum is a mysterious and high one.

Some people search for it their whole lives and can never reach it.

But some people suddenly have an epiphany, take a step, and when they look back, everything has changed, and there's no turning back.

Leo Tiger hugged Leo's leg and cried for a long time. His tears ran dry, his heart was dead.

"Have some milk, eat some sausages, and then go get some rest," Leo comforted him. Crying was indeed very sad. At the Green Mountain Asylum, he had comforted many people, offering them something to drink, something to eat. To them, it was a very happy thing.

The doctors watched the scene before them.

They had learned some of the details from Leo Tiger's ward and felt sorry for him. Many hardships had never broken this man, but some things could completely shatter a man with a heart of steel.

"He needs to rest. Thank you for your hard work," Leo said.

A nurse helped Leo Tiger away, glancing back at Leo several times. This student in a school uniform was very special. His smile was gentle, his eyes clear, but for some reason, he always gave people a strange feeling.

She couldn't say what was strange about him.

But the feeling was just… strange.

Suddenly.

A nurse saw Leo's arm and cried out in alarm, "Doctor, look at his arm!"

The nurse's reminder drew the doctor's attention to Leo's arm. When he saw its condition, his face changed drastically. He hurried forward and gently supported it. "This… this."

"It's broken," Leo said calmly.

The doctor saw the open wound on the back of his hand, blood gushing out, and could even see the white bone.

"Quick, prepare the operating room."

A nurse rushed out.

"Nurse, there's no need to rush. Take your time," Leo said, noticing the nurse's panic and reminding her to relax.

"Young man, come with us. Don't worry, your condition is still manageable, it's not too serious," the doctor comforted him. A wound this severe would have scared any normal person, but this student was too calm, as if he didn't care about his injury at all. Perhaps the pain had numbed his nerves, but when his nerves did react, the pain would be unbearable for anyone.

In the hospital room.

The students' mouths were wide open, all of them stunned by the scene before them.

Someone whispered.

"Is that still the Chen Yang we know?"

"He's become a stranger to us."

Indeed.

The old Chen Yang was the famous sissy of Skyworth High, his voice effeminate. But now… they realized that this was a completely different person from the Chen Yang they once knew.

The Operating Room.

"Doctor, please don't give me any anesthesia."

Leo lay on the operating table, silently looking at the familiar surgical light above him. It was still as dazzling as ever. Even though he was in a different place, the feeling was still the same.

The doctor had never heard such a request before. "How can that be? Without anesthesia, how can we perform this surgery? The pain will be unbearable."

"No, you don't understand. I have a will of steel. Pain is a form of cultivation, and I'm already used to it," Leo said.

The doctor was about to say something, but a nurse gently tugged at him, her meaning clear. If he doesn't want anesthesia, then we won't give it to him. We can tell him we're not giving him any, but secretly inject it.

At this moment.

The anesthesiologist had already prepared the anesthetic needle.

"What's this?" Leo asked.

"This is a medicinal solution, it's good for your wound. Don't worry, it's definitely not anesthesia," the anesthesiologist smiled. He selected a spot above the shoulder and below the head, and with a swift, practiced motion, he inserted the needle. It was clear he was an expert.

Leo smiled with satisfaction. "As long as it's not anesthesia, it's fine. Because I don't have any money."

The doctor and nurse were completely bewildered by Leo.

They couldn't understand what he was thinking.

There was a bit of a communication gap.

Money?

They hadn't even thought about money.

Soon, the sound of scissors cutting through flesh could be heard. Leo's expression didn't change at all. He was already used to hospitals.

The Green Mountain Asylum was his home.

The hospital was his second home.

As he thought about it, Leo closed his eyes and started to snore softly. Falling asleep on the operating table was a rare occurrence.

"Do you guys think this student is a bit strange?" a nurse asked.

"Yes, he is a bit strange. He's not like the other patients we've had. And do you know how he saved that patient?"

"How did he save him?"

"You probably won't believe it, but according to his classmates, he was going to open the window, and then he reached out and caught the patient who jumped from the 25th floor. How much strength does that take? A broken arm is a light injury. It's a miracle he wasn't pulled down with him."

"And after it broke, he didn't even cry out in pain. He just stood there quietly."

Whether it was the surgeon setting the bone or the assisting nurses, they all gasped.

So terrifying!

He's not human.

After an unknown amount of time, the surgery was over.

At this moment, a nurse was putting a cast on Leo's right arm. She looked curiously at the student in front of her and couldn't help but ask, "Young man, does it hurt?"

"It hurts," Leo said, a constant smile on his face.

The nurse pressed on, "If it hurts, you can scream."

"If I scream, will it not hurt?" Leo asked.

The nurse was stunned. After a moment of silence, she said, "No."

Leo said calmly, "If screaming won't make it not hurt, then why should I scream? Nurse, am I right?"

"Yes."

Leo smiled, his clear eyes fixed on the nurse in front of him.

In theory, this should have been a warm moment, a silent exchange between a nurse and her patient.

But as time went on, the nurse lowered her head. She felt a bit uncomfortable. His smiling gaze felt like… she couldn't describe it. It just felt a bit unsettling.

"Can you not look at me like that? It's giving me the chills," the nurse said, not daring to meet his smiling gaze.

"Alright," Leo said, but his smile and gaze remained, as he continued to stare quietly. This was what he considered the best way to convey intimacy, a habit from the Green Mountain Asylum.

Everyone would smile like that, their clear eyes fixed on each other.

It would gradually make them forget everything around them.

Just looking at each other like that.

Conveying friendship.

Even if they smiled and stared at each other for a day and a night, they wouldn't feel tired, because their hearts would be warm.
