Chapter 17: 17. Torino Karaoke – Where the Heart Burns
Caos, Gregorio, and the Italian girls gathered in the neon-lit karaoke bar, its air thick with the scent of cocktails and the hum of anticipation. The stage glowed under vibrant spotlights, casting playful shadows across the crowded room. Gregorio, ever the enthusiast, leaned forward in his seat, his infectious grin lighting up as Juno stepped up to sing "Summer Loving," her eyes fixed on Caos. As the lively melody filled the room, Gregorio cheered her on, clapping along to the beat. The Italian girls giggled, eagerly anticipating their turn to take the stage and showcase their own vocal talents.
"Tell me more, tell me more Was it love at first sight? Tell me more, tell me more. Did she put up a fight?"
Caos distracted himself by looking at Turin's landscape, daydreaming about his second season at Real Madrid and his long-gone mother.
As for Juno, she looked frustrated, knowing he would not look at her despite her good curves. She felt a mix of envy and determination, silently vowing to capture his attention before the night was over. The music pulsed around them, and Juno decided it was time to make her move, hoping to break through the wall of his daydreams.
Diana sang the second song, called "Summertime Sadness" by Lana Del Rey, astonishing everyone. The haunting melody filled the air, and Juno could feel the energy shift in the room. With a deep breath, she stepped into the spotlight, ready to dance her way into his heart, embodying every lyric that resonated with her longing.
"Oh, my God, I feel it in the air. Telephone wires above are sizzling like a snare. Honey, I'm on fire; I feel it everywhere. Nothing scares me anymore (one, two, three, four).
Kiss me hard before you go. Summertime sadness I just wanted you to know That, baby, you're the best."
Juno seized the moment, stepping into the spotlight to dance, her movements bold and fluid, each step a plea for Caos's attention. The crowd cheered, but Caos's eyes remained fixed on the window, his thoughts tangled in the past. Sofia leaned toward Gregorio, whispering, "She's dancing her heart out, and he's still lost. What's his deal?" Gregorio shrugged, his brows furrowing. "Chaos is… complicated. Always has been."
As Diana's song faded, the room buzzed with energy. Chaos stirred, as if jolted by the shift in the air. The lyrics of Juno's and Diana's songs had brushed against a raw nerve, reminding him of the passion he'd buried since his mother's passing. He stood, surprising everyone, and grabbed the microphone. "My turn," he said, his voice low but resolute.
He chose "I'll Let the World Burn" by Chris Grey, its chaotic intensity mirroring the storm inside him.
"Tears in their eyes Ash raining from the blood-orange sky I let everybody know that you're mine. Now it's just a matter of time before we're swept into the dust. Look what you made me become. I let you get too close just to wake up alone, and I know you think you can run. You're scared to believe I'm the one, but I just can't let you go. I'd let the world burn. Let the world burn for you. This is how it always had to end. If I can't have you, then no one can. I'd let it burn. I'd let the world burn. Just to hear you calling out my name Watching it all go down in flames Let it all burn. Oh, I'd burn this world for you. Oh, baby, I'd lose it all. For you, I'd let the world burn. Let the world burn for you. This is how it always had to end. If I can't have you, then no one can"
