Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Strange Wind Spirit
[Third Person's PoV]
"Nothing more romantic than kissing over the remains of your enemies~," Stephen said in amusement.
Mimosa covered her mouth with the back of her hand and chuckled. "The most romantic~," Mimosa retorted.
Mimosa then turned to the side, looking past Stephen, and pointed ahead. "It seems three Diamond Kingdom mages survived the attack."
"Hm? Those must be the Three Shining Generals. Let Yuno and Asta take care of them—they're more than powerful enough to handle this on their own," Stephen said as he turned to observe.
And just as Mimosa had said, only three mages had survived the attack.
Asta jumped down from the sky, landing with a sliding impact beside Yuno. In front of them stood two of the Three Shining Generals. One was a large, heavily built man encased head to toe in red clay armor, making him appear like a giant. Above him, a second mage hovered in the air, his body radiating a fierce lightning aura as he rode atop a massive bird made entirely of lightning.
"Asta!" Yuno exclaimed in surprise before smirking. "Here to steal the show as always?"
Sylph, the wind spirit, stared at Yuno in disbelief. 'He actually smiled.'
Asta grinned, raising his Demon Slayer sword in front of him. "And let you take all the credit? NEVER! I'll deal with the red guy! You handle the one flying!"
Yuno scoffed. "Don't go ordering me around, idiot."
Asta ignored him, simply smiling. The ground beneath his feet cracked, rubble shooting upward from the sheer force of his movement as he charged straight toward the red-clay-armored mage.
'Fast,' Sylph thought in surprise. 'That was just pure physical strength?! Who the hell is this guy?'
Meanwhile, in the sky, the lightning mage conjured a massive bow crackling with electricity.
[Lightning Creation Magic: Air-Splitting Magic Bow]
Countless lightning arrows formed, sparking with violent energy. As he released them, they streaked toward the battlefield, threatening to rain destruction upon the civilians behind Yuno.
Yuno, standing firm, extended his hand forward. "Bell!"
"Leave it to me!!" Sylph responded, puffing up her cheeks before blowing out a powerful gust of wind.
[Wind Magic: Swift White Bow]
A bow made entirely of wind formed in front of Yuno, launching large, spiraling wind arrows. The wind projectiles shot forward, intercepting the lightning arrows mid-air.
As the two attacks collided, a massive explosion of mana erupted, kicking up a dense cloud of dust. From the swirling mist, Yuno emerged, riding an eagle made of wind, its sword-like feathers gleaming around him.
The Diamond Kingdom mage clicked his tongue in frustration.
Meanwhile, on the ground, Asta flipped over one of the red mage's massive punches, which slammed into the earth, sending cobblestones flying. With another swing of his arm, the mage hurled chunks of rubble at piercing speed.
Asta raised his Buster Sword sideways, blocking the attack. Then, leaning back slightly, he charged forward, evading another strike before slashing his blade cleanly across the mage's torso.
The mage's eyes widened as he coughed up blood. His clay armor shattered instantly, dispelling the magic around him as he was sent flying, crashing through a building with a deep sword gash across his body.
Asta looked up to see Yuno weaving through the air in an intense aerial battle. As Asta watched, Yuno raised his hand, summoning a massive, glowing green sword, beautifully decorated with intricate designs.
Asta stood in awe as Yuno drove the sword straight through the lightning mage. The enemy's eyes widened in disbelief. "So… beautiful," he muttered before plummeting, crashing into a building that crumbled and collapsed upon impact.
A short distance away, Langris, a member of the Golden Dawn, had already finished off the last remaining Shining General—an enemy encased in slime—by simply waving his hand, erasing him from the battlefield with ease.
Stephen descended slowly, levitating down toward Asta and Yuno while carrying Mimosa beside him. "Hey, you guys, it looks like you're having fun~."
"Stephen," Yuno greeted with another rare smile. "I take it you were responsible for… this?" He motioned upward toward the sun, which was now rising back into the magic circle.
"Guilty as charged. But I wasn't the only one," Stephen admitted, gesturing toward Mimosa, who looked away shyly.
"Sister-in-law," Asta greeted with a nod.
Stephen stifled a laugh as Mimosa buried her face in her hands, trying to hide her embarrassment.
"You two have gotten stronger," Yuno noted.
"Like you haven't?" Asta shot back, narrowing his eyes. "I swear, you look taller too."
Sylph had a wry expression as she thought, 'Who the heck are these guys?! Yuno always acts apathetic with me!'
Frustrated, Sylph grabbed Yuno's face and began pulling at it roughly. "Yuno! Who the heck are these two?! And why do you all seem so chummy with each other?!"
"I used to live with them," Yuno replied flatly.
Sylph stared in disbelief as Yuno continued. "We ate together, studied together—"
"We ate together, took baths together—" Asta added.
"Trained together as well," Stephen said with a faint smile.
Yuno raised an eyebrow. "Speaking of training, do you think we finally have a chance at beating you?"
"Why even ask? You already know my answer," Stephen replied without hesitation.
"WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!" Sylph suddenly shouted, stepping between them. "What do you mean, 'now have a chance?!' My Yuno is invincible! There's no way he'd lose to someone like you! He was probably just going easy on you!"
Stephen smirked. "Aren't you just the cutest little thing… Sorry to break it to you, sweetie, but my winning streak against these two remains undefeated."
"I refuse to believe it!" Sylph huffed, crossing her arms. "There's nothing impressive about you as far as I can tell! Your mana isn't even close to my Yuno's!"
"That's because I'm suppressing it–" Stephen replied with an eye roll.
While Sylph continued passionately defending Yuno's honor, Yuno suddenly heard someone trying to get his attention. Looking down, he saw Charmy standing there, holding out a large muffin with a faint blush on her cheeks.
"Hey… it's been a while! I wanted to say thanks for rescuing my food last time. Please have an after-battle snack—it'll help restore your mana," she said shyly.
"Oh, you're that girl from the Black Bulls," Yuno said as he accepted the muffin, recalling the time he had met her during the capital's attack.
"I'm Charmy! Can I call you Yuno?" she asked, making cute little squirms.
"Sure… Whoa, this is good," he muttered, surprised by the taste.
Meanwhile, Stephen and Asta had their hands covering their mouths, exchanging mischievous glances before chuckling to themselves.
"I'm sorry for pushing you down so abruptly back then," Yuno said apologetically.
Stephen almost choked on his own spit upon hearing that. He glanced at Charmy, whose face had turned an even deeper shade of red.
"Oh no, that was totally fine, hehehehe," Charmy giggled nervously.
"AAAGH!" Sylph shrieked in disbelief. "Why you…! I bet you used some sneaky spell to try and seduce my Yuno! You snot-nosed little brat!"
Charmy tilted her head, staring at Sylph. "What's this tiny creature? Is it tasty?"
"Ms. Charmy! That's a spirit! Please don't eat it!" Asta quickly intervened, looking panicked.
Charmy placed a hand behind her head, pouting her lips out dramatically. "Snot-nosed brat? I can't let that slide. I'm nineteen! That makes me way older than Yuno—and quite sophisticated! My sexiness doesn't need magical enhancement!"
This led to a heated back-and-forth between Charmy and Sylph, leaving Stephen, Asta, and Yuno standing awkwardly on the sidelines.
Then, out of nowhere, Charmy pulled out a fork and knife, shouting, "I'll fry you and eat you!!"
Off to the side, Finral let out a defeated sigh. "Hey… don't shut me out."
A voice suddenly interrupted from above. "Well, well… if it isn't my big brother."
Everyone turned to see Langris standing atop a rooftop, his arrival immediately drawing their attention. He smirked down at Finral.
"It's been ages~. To think we'd meet in a place like this."
"Langris…" Finral muttered warily.
Langris sneered. "Our family's shame—the one who can barely fight at all. What business do you have on a battlefield?"
Stephen's usual smile slowly faded as he turned to Langris, his expression growing cold and apathetic. Langris had already rubbed him the wrong way.
