Chapter 24 - A Script of Filial Piety and Villainy?
Seeing Director Wu believe him to be an official from the Dragon Nation, Qing Mu decides to use this to his advantage and intimidate him.
“You can think of it that way. So, it’s best for you to honestly confess everything you know. Maybe if I see you cooperate, I can put in a good word for you upstairs, and they might go easy on your punishment. You should be well aware of the things you’ve done. If everything goes as expected, you might just end up eating peanuts.”
“Eating peanuts? Please, please, I’ll answer your questions. Anything I know, I’ll tell you everything. Please, don’t make me eat peanuts. I don’t want to die, and I was coerced by Eternal Technology Inc. They’ve kidnapped my family and threatened to kill them if I didn’t cooperate. I didn’t want to…”
Director Wu pleads desperately, tears streaming down his face.
Qing Mu sighs in relief. He knows he can’t get any information out of hard-headed individuals. With them, it’s either kill or be killed.
“How long has this place been in operation?”
“We’ve been established for nearly seven years.”
“Seven years? In these seven years, how many monsters like the one we saw earlier have you created?”
“I’m not exactly sure. At least a few thousand each year, maybe even more. Yancheng has a large population, and a few thousand people disappearing each year isn’t considered a big deal. Almost no one cares.”
Hearing this, Qing Mu shivers. Just this one base can produce several thousand monsters in a year. Considering that Infinite Eternal Technology Inc. has numerous branches worldwide, how many people must die at their hands every year? It’s horrifying and beyond imagination.
“What is the purpose of creating these monsters? Is it primarily for selling bioweapons?”
“Not exactly. Selling bioweapons is secondary. Initially, the main purpose of our establishment was to create more Kamen Riders. However, the success rate for creating Kamen Riders is extremely low. Every failure results in the birth of a monster. To deal with these monsters and extract value from them, we started selling them as bioweapons.”
“You certainly have a cunning plan. If you succeed, you get Kamen Riders, and if you fail, you profit from selling bioweapons. You capitalists are something else.”
“All of this is orchestrated by the higher-ups. I’m just a lowly pawn following orders, a mere employee. You won’t get anything by interrogating me. If you want to strike a blow against Eternal Technology Inc., you’ll need to capture their high-ranking officials.”
Director Wu quickly passes the blame and shifts all responsibility to the higher-ups. He’s not foolish enough to shoulder any of the blame in this situation. Those involved in such matters rarely survive.
Even a hundred executions would be too few.
“Do you know who the highest authority here or the mastermind behind all this is?”
“It’s Manager Qin Yu. He was one of the founders of this place and is in charge here. He controls everything here.”
“Qin Yu? Are you sure?”
When Qing Mu heard his father Qin Yu’s name, his tone unintentionally rose by two notches. But in his current state of panic, Director Wu didn’t notice this detail.
“Yes, it’s Qin Yu. He’s the one who actually controls everything here. Of course, there must be someone above Qin Yu, but those high-ranking executives typically come from the company’s headquarters, and they’re not the kind of big shots I can interact with. What I know is just about Qin Yu.”
Before coming here, Qing Mu could never have imagined that he would receive such explosive information. Everything about this base and what goes on here was somehow connected to his own father.
His father, Qin Yu, was actually the one controlling everything here. What kind of situation was this?
After some questioning, Director Wu continued, “Even if he’s not the boss, he’s at least a mid-level executive.”
Qing Mu was struggling to process the revelation. How could he continue now? Would he have to confront his own father, who might be a villain?
Finally, Qing Mu managed to calm his emotions somewhat and continued questioning Director Wu.
“So, where is this person named Qin Yu now?”
“I don’t know.”
“Don’t know? Are you playing games with me?”
“No, I’m not! I swear I’m not playing games! In fact, Qin Yu disappeared about a week ago. The company is very secretive about this matter, and nobody is allowed to mention it. So, I really don’t know where Qin Yu is.”
“You’ve been working here for so long; you must know something. You must have some suspicions. Speak up! What’s going on?”
Ride Booker’s blade pressed against Director Wu’s throat. Just a tiny bit more pressure, and he would be killed instantly. There couldn’t be any other outcome.
“Yes, yes, I’ll talk! I’ll talk! Just don’t kill me! According to my guess, it’s possible that Qin Yu betrayed the company, which led to the company taking action against him.”
Qing Mu’s eyes flashed with a hint of coldness.
“Company taking action against him? Wasn’t he a top leader? He should be quite powerful. Is there really someone who can deal with him?”
Regardless of who Qing Mu was, in the end, Qin Yu was his father. If it was true that Eternal Technology Inc. had killed Qin Yu, then this was an enmity Qing Mu had to avenge, no matter what.
Since Eternal Technology Inc. didn’t seem to be a benevolent organization, Qing Mu’s curiosity and concern continued to grow.
“I heard, it’s just a rumor though, that Qin Yu had been colluding with forces outside the company all along, secretly leaking the company’s confidential information to other factions for huge profits. I speculate that it might be because of this that he was secretly executed by the company.”
Hearing this, Qing Mu’s heart sank, but then he remembered that he had found his Decade Drive in Qin Yu’s safe. Even with the power of the Decade Drive, Qin Yu should not have been executed by Eternal Technology Inc. There had to be something fishy going on.
He immediately questioned Director Wu, “So if Qin Yu is no longer in charge, there should be someone else temporarily in charge here, right?”
“Yes, currently all affairs in this base are temporarily managed by Miss Lihua. She’s the acting manager.”
“Li hua? A woman? What does she look like?”
“Li hua is very young and beautiful. She likes to wear the uniforms of ordinary staff and wander around inspecting the company. Today, she seems to be wearing the receptionist’s uniform.”
As Director Wu mentioned this, Qing Mu immediately recalled the receptionist he had seen at the company’s entrance. He had glanced at her nameplate, which indeed had the name “Li hua.”
However, Qing Mu had thought she was just an ordinary person, so he hadn’t paid much attention. If it weren’t for Director Wu’s reminder, he probably wouldn’t have remembered.
“Darn it! I just brushed shoulders with a big fish!”
In his heart, Qing Mu couldn’t help but curse. If he had known her true identity, he wouldn’t have left so easily.
