Chapter 31: Alien vs. Predator!
Aside from the DNA optimization options, the other abilities of the Xenomorphs are quite impressive.
Take their regenerative abilities, for example.
These abilities are universally present in all non-cloned Xenomorphs. No matter how severe the injuries they sustain, Xenomorphs can heal themselves within minutes. This makes them impervious to all human weapons and is one of the reasons they can survive in the vacuum of space.
The Blacklight Virus itself already has decent regenerative capabilities. When combined with the Xenomorphs' healing ability, surpassing Wolverine and Deadpool becomes effortless. This essentially locks one's health bar, turning it into an invincible mode!
In the game, the health bar of the Blacklight Virus is essentially tied to energy and viral consumption. However, with a regenerative ability, this consumption becomes negligible, significantly enhancing the virus's survival and endurance capabilities, making it much harder to kill.
Unless exposed to extreme measures like high temperatures for complete annihilation, it will always regenerate!
Moreover, Xenomorphs demonstrate incredible physical capabilities. For example, the tubular structures on their backs absorb cosmic dust and radiation while also regulating body pressure and temperature.
"Evolution!"
A single mature Xenomorph only contributed 100 gene points to Chang Wei. Perhaps this was because Xenomorphs are much weaker compared to Hunters.
Soon, all the Xenomorph genes were devoured and assimilated by the Blacklight Virus.
"Leave none alive—wipe them all out."
Chang Wei shed some tissue from his body onto the ground. These tissues rapidly expanded, eventually forming Hunters with Xenomorph-like exoskeletons!
The Xenomorphs that Chang Wei had just absorbed were merely "worker bees," not the combat-specialized "warrior" Xenomorphs. This made Chang Wei curious about how long they could last against his Hunters. As for the humans in that small town from the original plot, Chang Wei chose to ignore them entirely.
Xenomorphs excel in stealth and assassination, but that didn't matter. The Hunters created by the Imperial Blacklight Virus were designed according to Chang Wei's preferences and were infused with the genes of electroreceptive organisms.
Creatures with electroreception can detect the electromagnetic fields generated by all living beings, rendering Xenomorphs completely exposed before them.
Furthermore, the Hunters were stronger than the Xenomorphs. Even the Xenomorph Queen and the Predalien could be easily swatted to death by them.
Even Elizabeth Greene's Hunters could crush the Xenomorph Queen and the Predalien, so how could they compare to Chang Wei's Hunters?
Perhaps only an advanced Xenomorph evolution capable of swatting the Queen to death could stand against Elizabeth's Hunters. But if it encountered Chang Wei's Hunters—immune to strong acid corrosion, equipped with electroreceptive abilities, and designed with genes primarily derived from arthropods—it would be utterly annihilated.
"Speaking of which, there's supposedly a Xenomorph Queen frozen beneath icy waters. Too bad the pyramid was completely destroyed."
The Alien Universe is one thing, the Predator Universe is another, and the Alien vs. Predator Universe is yet another parallel universe.
These three settings exist as different parallel universes. In the comics, it's a bit more cohesive. For instance, the Predators fought Engineers but were no match for them. Without weapons, they were utterly overpowered by the Engineers.
Given the vast disparity in power levels, Chang Wei couldn't help but covet the Engineers for their physiques and genes.
Although he estimated that he could punch an Engineer to death, hunting and acquiring exceptional genes was fundamental to the Blacklight Virus's evolution. Naturally, he wouldn't pass up any opportunities.
Just like with the Xenomorphs, this batch could significantly strengthen and refine Chang Wei's Hunters, making them even more formidable.
"If I can evolve my Hunters into spore-based organisms like the green-skinned Orks, or even grant their cells totipotency, they'll have no weak points and become even deadlier."
As Chang Wei pondered, he decided to observe the battle between the Hunters and Xenomorphs for now.
The Predalien quickly detected the presence of new "intruders" in the forest and the small town.
These intruders were brazenly spreading pheromones and electrical signals, which served as the primary means of communication for the Hunters, aside from conventional vocalizations. These signals also helped Chang Wei regulate their speed and range.
Conveniently, while Xenomorphs could sense these signals, they couldn't understand their meaning.
The Predalien ordered five worker bees from its scavenged hive to evolve into warrior Xenomorphs to confront the intruders. Simultaneously, it sought to bring back new genes for the hive.
The five worker bees obeyed and transformed into warrior Xenomorphs, their armor thickened, and their heads no longer smooth but layered with small, interlocking plates, creating a tightly structured appearance.
Meanwhile, the remaining Facehuggers were commanded by the Predalien to hunt and create more Xenomorphs.
The intelligent Predalien itself ventured to the town's hospital. There, it could implant multiple Xenomorph embryos into pregnant women, using them as incubation chambers to mass-produce worker bees and warrior Xenomorphs.
This was why, later in the original plot, the lone Predator could kill countless Xenomorphs, yet they kept appearing endlessly.
