Tobirama stood in front of Hashirama, facing Kamihane from a distance.
He quickly surveyed the battlefield, scanning the despondent Uchiha Kagami, the blood-soaked Hiruzen, and the unconscious Akimichi Torifu, among others. When his gaze fell on Pakura, his expression grew more solemn.
"It seems you've made significant progress over these years," he said in a deep voice.
Kamihane spread his hands, "I owe it to your mercy back then."
"Are you trying to provoke me?" Tobirama narrowed his eyes, his sharp gaze radiating killing intent. "Indeed, I should have insisted on eliminating you back then, or today's calamity would not have occurred."
"Is Lord Tobirama regretting it now? Unfortunately, there's no cure for regret in this world."
"No," Tobirama reached into his pouch and drew out eight kunai with both hands, "Today, I will eliminate you!"
"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!"
The kunai pierced through the rain curtain, hurtling straight towards Kamihane. Each one bore the distinct mark of the Flying Thunder God technique, and Kamihane's eyes swiftly locked onto the trajectories and landing points of all the kunai.
No matter where Tobirama appeared, Kamihane would be the first to launch a deadly strike!
"Come, let me test who is truly the supreme shinobi of unparalleled speed..." Kamihane licked his lips, his muscles tensed, and unconsciously tightened his grip on the hilt of his blade.
Suddenly, his ankle was seized, and a large hand emerged from the water, yanking him into the ground!
"All your attention was on the kunai, wasn't it?"
A chilling voice echoed like a tomb's cold wind.
Tobirama appeared silently behind Kamihane, demonstrating the skills befitting a shinobi of unmatched speed. In the blink of an eye, a kunai pierced through Kamihane's right eye, embedding itself directly into his skull!
"Thud!"
Kamihane's astonished expression froze on his face as the Tobirama before him "poofed" into a cloud of white smoke and vanished.
"This technique is called the Shadow Clone Jutsu. How strange, you've witnessed it before," Tobirama's true form appeared behind him, speaking coldly.
Kamihane was suddenly startled; these words were all too familiar, clearly the same ones he had just used to mock Sarutobi Sasuke. "So... you've been watching all along..."
Kamihane spoke intermittently, his face pale, his once delicate features now twisted and ferocious. A kunai was embedded in his eye socket, blood gushing like a spring. Even his left eye was vacant, the whites completely dyed a blood-red hue.
"Don't even think about using that ocular technique to recover. I've already destroyed your optic nerve," Tobirama crouched down, one hand picking up the long sword, the other gripping Kamihane's hair.
"Actually..." Kamihane's body convulsed, his voice growing fainter, still murmuring something, "It was me..."
"Swish!"
The blade reflected the moonlight, flashing by in an instant. Tobirama cleanly severed Kamihane's head, blood splattering onto the water's surface, crimson as fine wine.
"...I won."
Tobirama's brow furrowed as he deciphered the lip movements of the severed head at the very last moment.
Suddenly, Tobirama realized something. He lifted the head in his hand and only then noticed the faint, almost imperceptible sneer at the corner of Kamihane's lips.
Tobirama's heart shuddered violently.
In the next second, the head melted away with the raindrops, its flesh and blood turning transparent, and in an instant, it transformed into a large puddle of clear water, slipping through the gaps between Tobirama's fingers.
Tobirama looked down and saw that the headless corpse had liquefied into water, merging with the earth. The bloodstains from before had also vanished without a trace, completely dissolved into the puddle.
"Water… Clone Technique!" His face turned ashen, and his fists clenched so tightly that they creaked.
Before revealing himself, he had actually been observing from the sidelines for a while, but he couldn't quite grasp Kamihane's intentions, so he had quietly remained hidden in the vicinity.
Therefore, there was no way Kamihane could have performed the Water Clone Technique right in front of him!
This guy… had been nothing but a Water Clone all along!
Similar to the Shadow Clone, it possesses only 10% of the original body's strength and cannot be too far from the main body. However, the Water Clone's abilities are enhanced when in water.
This signifies that his true form is...
"Not good!"
Tobirama belatedly realized something, his face instantly filled with shock and fury. Without a second thought for his surrounding subordinates, he directly activated the "Flying Thunder God Technique" and vanished from the spot.
...
Elsewhere on the battlefield.
This was a shattered land. Although the heavy rain had washed away the scorched smoke, the scene that met the eyes was still a mess of devastation.
Giant trees grew chaotically in all directions, the ground uneven and riddled with ravines, as if it had been roughly plowed by a giant, with not a single intact spot to be found. This was the result of the roots' disorderly oppression and destruction of the ground.
A colossal wooden Buddha, a hundred zhang tall, stood here. Opposite it, massive tree roots intertwined, constructing several hollow wooden dragons in the air, as if sealing something.
However, the bodies of these wooden dragons had long since been severed, and the palm of the wooden Buddha had been shattered. The thing that was sealed had long disappeared.
On top of the wooden figure, a black-clad youth stood with his hands behind his back, graceful and composed.
The moonlight was as clear as water, outlining his distinct facial features. Strands of hair, soaked with water droplets, hung down his pale face. A pair of magnificent Mangekyō Sharingan shimmered with a faint light, adding to the dreamy and hazy atmosphere.
The rain had been falling until now, and the night had already brought a slight chill. The thin mist intensified this feeling of coldness.
"Swish."
Tobirama Senju's figure appeared on the giant tree. The first thing he saw was the empty wooden dragon cage and the nonchalant youth. Instantly, a storm of fury brewed in his eyes.
The Nine-Tails was gone.
Even the technique he had left on the Nine-Tails had disappeared along with it.
"From the very beginning, you were aiming for the Nine-Tails?" He stared intently at Kamihane's back. If looks could kill, Kamihane would have died a thousand times over.
Kamihane turned around leisurely and smiled as he retorted, "Didn't you figure that out as well?"
Tobirama's face turned ashen, squeezing out a cold "Hmph."
Kamihane was right. During the decisive battle between Hashirama and Madara, as the second-in-command of the Hidden Leaf Village, he had already arranged strategic countermeasures.
In order to avoid being drawn into the battle, he deliberately dispatched only Sarutobi Sasuke and a few elite Jonin this time to participate in the cleanup of the battlefield.
In his heart, his elder brother was invincible, and it would not be an exaggeration to call him peerless in the world.
Meanwhile, he led his trusted subordinates to guard the Nine-Tails, lying in wait for the target while also aiming to broaden their horizons.
This target, naturally, was Uchiha Kamihane!
Tobirama had never forgotten him. Ever since that night five years ago, Tobirama had regarded him as the greatest threat to Konoha Village, second only to Madara.
As long-time adversaries in their strategic games, he had long anticipated that Madara would send Kamihane to retrieve the Nine-Tails.
Yet, despite having laid in ambush near the Nine-Tails for a considerable time, Kamihane had not appeared. However, this did not unsettle him in the slightest.
He decisively issued the order, commanding his subordinates to rush to another battlefield to gather intelligence.
However, he never expected that upon witnessing his father being trapped, Sarutobi Hiruzen, driven by a surge of bloodlust, recklessly charged forward.
Meanwhile, the ever-cautious Danzo first had Uchiha Kagami make a move, and then he himself took advantage of the chaos to launch a sneak attack, ultimately dragging his companions into peril.
As Tobirama waited in vain for his subordinates to return, he immediately muttered to himself, "This is bad," and teleported over using the "Flying Thunder God Mark" on Hashirama's body.
Subsequently, he continued to be misled by Kamihane, believing that Kamihane's target was Hashirama. Coupled with Kamihane's provocation and the accumulated killing intent, he finally couldn't restrain himself and took action, only to realize he had fallen into a trap.
"A single oversight, Lord Tobirama," Kamihane winked at him.
"What I truly didn't anticipate was that you could destroy the seal in such a short time and effortlessly release the Nine-Tails. But..."
Hashirama's eye twitched, the future Second Hokage took a deep breath, suppressing his anger into a somber, icy tone:
"Today, you will die."
