Chapter 167: Chapter 167: The Cosmic Beast
After each burst of power, creatures like the cosmic beast tend to enter a weakened state. The serpent-like cosmic beast before Feng Mo had just unleashed an attack equivalent to a T5-class Cluster Star Annihilator Cannon, but now lay limp in space. For safety, Feng Mo continuously had his close-defense cannons fire upon the beast, causing streams of blue blood to spurt and drift into the cosmos. He looked at the blue blood and instructed Han Peipei beside him, "These samples are prime research material. Make sure they're sent to the bio-lab on Beast Roar's main planet."
"Understood!"
The last cosmic beast they'd encountered had been dismantled by the lab but had yielded little valuable information. So this time, Feng Mo decided not to kill the creature outright. Instead, he handed a T5-class enslavement chip to Feng Tianyi.
A squad of mech units, utilizing light tweezers for precision, appeared on the Wind God's hull, activating their boosters as they approached the massive creature. Seeing the enormous 500-meter beast, Feng Tianyi couldn't help but swallow. The New Humanity Church truly had impressive capabilities to have created such a creature.
Feng Tianyi, piloting the only quasi-T5 Titanium-class interstellar mech, approached the serpent beast. This was a task only he could undertake; if the beast lashed out, only the quasi-T5 Titanium mech might resist briefly, whereas the T4 mechs would be instantly crushed.
Fortunately, the beast seemed genuinely exhausted and sensed no real threat from Feng Tianyi. It ignored the metallic creature, unable to see it as food. Feng Tianyi carefully maneuvered the Titanium mech to the back of the serpent's head, opened his mech's hatch, and extended his hand. The T5-class enslavement chip slipped into the beast's head.
As soon as the chip made contact with the creature's scales, it transformed into a small one-centimeter insect, burrowing through the gaps between the scales and into the creature's flesh without causing any discomfort. The serpent remained unaware.
Once Feng Tianyi completed his mission, he quickly closed his mech's hatch and returned to the Wind God.
Meanwhile, Feng Mo quietly attempted to sense the creature. However, as a Level 3 genetic warrior, his mental strength was still relatively weak. In comparison, the mental strength of this serpent beast felt like a candle flame, while Feng Mo's was barely a flicker. The disparity was too vast, and he decided to refrain from forcing the connection, focusing instead on observing the creature.
The T5 enslavement chip burrowed into the serpent's flesh, traveling through its bloodstream until reaching its brain, where it would establish a "home." The chip embedded itself, causing the serpent to grow agitated and restless. Though exhausted, it thrashed its head as if trying to shake off something.
Its struggle was futile. After about ten minutes, the serpent gradually calmed, and Feng Mo felt a faint connection—a sign of successful enslavement.
Feng Mo exhaled in relief. With this creature, he might be able to uncover some of the New Humanity Church's secrets—how they created such beasts, the location of their branches, and more.
"Notify Hua Qin to have her fleet clean up the battlefield. Remember our principle—those who surrendered go to the mines, and their ships are to be melted down."
The New Humanity Church's ships held no appeal for Feng Mo, who valued the raw materials within them. Even though there would be some loss in the recycling process, these were still valuable resources. Feng Mo knew he had to be thrifty with his current supplies; the resources from the Snowhawk Chen family alone were no longer sufficient for the Storm Kingdom's needs, especially in terms of T4 materials.
The Wind God activated its tractor beam to contain the serpent beast and headed back to Beast Roar's main planet. A creature of this size was not suitable for the Hurricane or Storm systems, where Feng Mo had no privacy—both systems teemed with spies, some even operating openly. One had set up an "information consulting company" on Hurricane's main planet, openly recording and analyzing anything related to Feng Mo.
Such intelligence-gathering was common, and Feng Mo's forces did it too. However, his network only handled minor affairs. Serious espionage involved neural networks, data analysis, and AI struggles. The Federation's database, stored within its supreme AI "Caesar," allowed public access only to surface-level information. Deep access required clearance, with five levels ranked from top to bottom. Currently, Feng Mo held a Level 3 clearance, which was also the level held by Councilor Gu Jun, despite his high-ranking military position.
After founding the Storm Kingdom, Feng Mo established his database, assigning it an AI named "Molly." Initially, he didn't dare store sensitive information there, limiting it to widely known data. This caution proved wise—Molly reported over a hundred infiltration attempts by other AIs, with data routinely copied. Though it was impossible to trace, Feng Mo suspected Caesar was involved.
Ever since, he stored critical information in a secure underground vault within Hurricane's main planet. Only Feng Mo, Ai Er, Kylan, and Chu Yunjian had access to this vault, which contained the full T4 starship blueprints, two quasi-T5 blueprints (for the Wind God and the Orca), and a wealth of other sensitive data.
There was no need to conceal the existence of the cosmic beast, however. Feng Mo wanted the Federation to know, hoping it would spark their curiosity and prompt further research.
When the Storm Fleet returned to Beast Roar's main planet, Feng Mo disembarked, seeing the massive serpent coiled in the spaceport plaza. As he moved to approach it, Feng Tianyi stepped in to block him.
"Your Grace, this beast is extremely dangerous. I advise we put it down immediately!"
Even with the T5 enslavement chip in place, Feng Tianyi was wary. History was full of instances where enslaved creatures turned on their masters, a common concern in the Federation.
