Chapter 56: 56: Oscar
After the evening's spirit arena battles concluded, everyone gathered together for the return journey to the academy.
Dean Flender departed from the group to visit his shop, instructing Dai Mubai to lead the others back safely.
Ma Hongjun also prepared to leave the group, planning to vent his excess fire attribute nearby. He even called out to Dai Mubai to join him.
Dai Mubai glanced meaningfully at Zhu Zhuqing, then surveyed the surrounding crowd before responding, "Fatty, you don't need to invite me for that kind of activity. Don't go ruining my reputation."
Ma Hongjun laughed knowingly. "Boss Dai, who are you trying to fool? You've been with more women than I have. Don't forget about those twins from last time."
Dai Mubai's face flushed with embarrassment. "Fatty, if you want to go, then just go! Why are you spouting such nonsense? Say another word and I'll beat you senseless."
Ma Hongjun reacted with impressive speed, shooting a quick glance at Zhu Zhuqing and the other young women before vanishing in a puff of smoke.
Xiao Wu asked with genuine confusion, "What exactly is Fatty going to do? I heard him mention something about a brothel. What kind of place is that?"
Everyone's expressions darkened upon hearing this innocent question. Tang San quickly pulled Xiao Wu aside and whispered an explanation. Her face visibly reddened as understanding dawned.
Ning Rongrong had originally intended to make a comment, but Yang Xiong shot her a warning glare. She immediately fell silent, apparently remembering their earlier conversation.
A hint of displeasure appeared on Xiao Wu's face as she declared, "Third Brother, you absolutely cannot visit such places! Otherwise, I'll have to teach you a lesson."
Tang San's face contorted with extreme awkwardness as he hastily assured her, "Xiao Wu, you can rest easy. How could someone like me ever go to a brothel? I'm nothing like Fatty."
The group couldn't help but laugh at Tang San and Xiao Wu's interaction.
Ning Rongrong seized the opportunity to tease, "Little Xiong, you seem quite knowledgeable about brothels. Have you been to one before?"
Yang Xiong smiled calmly. "I've never left the sect since childhood. How would I know what a brothel is? Besides cultivation, I have little interest in other matters."
Oscar playfully poked Yang Xiong's waist. "Brother Xiong, I think you're quite wealthy. You must be experienced in these areas. Have you seen anything particularly high-end?"
Ning Rongrong's interest was piqued. "Little Xiong, be honest with us. We rarely see you in class. Have you secretly found many girlfriends? Maybe you've even snuck out of the sect to have fun?"
Yang Xiong felt exasperated by their accusations. "I skip classes because I want to cultivate in peace. Even the teachers have given me permission. Don't you trust the teachers' judgment?"
Xiao Wu's playful nature suddenly emerged. She and Ning Rongrong, both mischievous by nature, leaned together like best friends who had known each other for years.
"Rongrong, you and Little Xiong were classmates before, right? What's the story behind his chronic absence from classes?"
Ning Rongrong explained, "Little Xiong and I were indeed classmates. This guy has loved reading since childhood. He would hold a book and read all day during class, never paying attention to lessons. Eventually, he stopped attending altogether. I originally wanted to skip classes too, but my father said if I could achieve the highest academic grades in our year like him, I could also stop attending."
"Unfortunately, this guy seems particularly valued by the teachers. He's actually allowed to skip regular classes and only needs to come to school once a week. Recently, we haven't seen him for half a year! I seriously suspect he's been frequenting brothels."
Xiao Wu nodded in enthusiastic agreement with Ning Rongrong's suspicions.
Yang Xiong rolled his eyes at Xiao Wu. "You little rabbit - no, I should call you old rabbit. I remember I'm actually older than you. You should address me as Brother Xiong or Yang Xiong. That's what everyone at home calls me."
Xiao Wu glared defiantly at Yang Xiong. "If Rongrong can call you Little Xiong, why can't I? I think everyone should call you Little Xiong from now on!"
Before Yang Xiong could protest, Ning Rongrong nodded in agreement. The two young women looked like they had discovered kindred spirits.
Yang Xiong surveyed everyone helplessly, complaining internally: 'You ten-thousand-year-old rogue rabbit, always causing trouble without any sense of propriety. Don't tempt me to turn you into a spirit ring in the future.'
Tang San also looked somewhat embarrassed by Xiao Wu's playful behavior, though his eyes remained full of affection for her.
After everyone had finished their playful banter without any real conflicts arising, they returned to Shrek Academy together.
The following day, Dean Flender was conducting class as usual. When lesson time arrived, everyone except Oscar was present.
Flender's expression darkened. "Mubai, go fetch Oscar. How can he be so fond of sleeping in at such a young age?"
Tang San quickly interjected, "Dean, when I left the dormitory, I saw him still deep in meditation. He must have been cultivating so intensely that he lost track of time."
Before Dai Mubai could leave to summon him, Oscar burst excitedly from the dormitory.
Flender snorted coldly. "Oscar, it seems you want to run more laps. How dare you be late for my class?"
Oscar quickly explained, "Dean, please let me explain! I've broken through to level thirty!"
Flender's mood transformed instantly to joy. "Good! Very good! Oscar, you haven't disappointed me. It seems our academy finally has a second Spirit Elder."
Yang Xiong glanced at Oscar, noting that events were unfolding exactly as in the original timeline. It seemed the moment for action was approaching.
Following this announcement, Flender addressed everyone, "Today's lesson will focus on Oscar. Everyone must consume at least one sausage created by Oscar."
The students were shocked by this requirement, especially the three girls, whose faces displayed obvious disgust.
Yang Xiong appeared remarkably casual about the situation. "Oscar, use both your spirit skills to make one sausage of each type for me."
The somewhat dejected Oscar brightened immediately and quickly produced two sausages. His first spirit skill created the Recovery Big Sausage, while his second produced the Detoxification Small Sausage. However, the incantations were admittedly rather crude: "I have a big sausage" and "I have a small sausage."
Everyone regarded Yang Xiong and Oscar with evident disdain, clearly finding Oscar's incantations revolting. They were amazed that Yang Xiong could ignore such vulgar phrases.
Yang Xiong paid no attention to their expressions. He took both sausages and consumed them directly, even nodding appreciatively. "Not bad at all! These are genuinely useful items. The taste is pleasant in all respects, and the effects on soul masters are remarkably potent. This truly is a top-tier martial spirit with innate full spirit power."
Oscar felt tremendously encouraged, as if he had finally found someone who understood him. "Brother Xiong, you truly understand me! You'll be my eldest brother from now on!"
Yang Xiong smiled warmly. "Oscar, you're older than me. Just call me Little Xiong or Yang Xiong. That's what my family calls me."
Ning Rongrong appeared exceptionally disgusted. "Little Xiong, don't you find the combination of that incantation and the sausage somewhat revolting? I absolutely cannot bring myself to eat it."
The other six students nodded vigorously at Ning Rongrong's words, clearly sharing her sentiment.
Yang Xiong surveyed the group and couldn't help but sigh deeply. "The soul master world is far more cruel than any of you can imagine. I once ventured alone into a spirit beast forest. The combination of hunger and depleted spirit power creates a truly desperate situation. If I had possessed Oscar's sausages at that time, I would have felt much more confident when facing spirit beasts."
"Consider the life-and-death battles between soul masters. Sometimes survival hinges on a single moment - perhaps due to insufficient spirit power or poison affecting your body. These situations can prove fatal. Oscar's sausages can provide crucial assistance during combat, potentially allowing us to turn the tide at critical moments. Compared to such benefits, the incantation means nothing."
"Besides, don't you think Oscar's incantations and the sausages' functions complement each other perfectly? Perhaps this is the unique artistry that comes with innate full spirit power."
Everyone fell silent upon hearing this perspective, unable to formulate a proper response.
