Chapter 143: Second Tier Wizard Apprentice

Lucia Heigel was the First Tier Wizard who had previously fought alongside Janna and Anthony-Rook in their operation against the Darksun Apostles in the Shadow World, and she was also the current headmistress of Blackbone Grove.

By any reasonable logic, since Maro Heigel came from the same family as the headmistress of Blackbone Grove, he ought to have enrolled there as well.

However, this Second Tier Wizard Apprentice, who possessed a B-level [Water Control] talent, completely disregarded public opinion and resolutely chose White Coral Academy.

"The result of the draw is 【Flying Spell】. Let's begin."

"Alright."

Without any hesitation, once the test content was confirmed, Maro Heigel immediately chanted the spell and performed the casting gesture.

"Accio—"

As soon as the spell ended, the empty cup originally on Maro Heigel's desk swiftly flew into his hand.

"Hmm, not bad. The next person—Nia Flare."

As Maro Heigel stepped down from the podium and returned to his seat, a female apprentice about 178 cm tall, with bronze skin, sharp features, and deep red hair braided into several scorpion-tail-like strands, strode confidently onto the platform.

"I’ve dealt with her before. She’s decent in character, just very hot-tempered."

Upon hearing Vivian’s whispered comment, information about Nia Flare quickly surfaced in Janna’s mind.

Nia Flare, a Second Tier Wizard Apprentice of the bloodline branch, with an unknown bloodline attribute, was a collateral member of the Flare family and, by blood, a cousin of Soro Flare.

"Accio—"

Watching the wand fly swiftly into Nia Flare's hand, Janna slightly raised an eyebrow.

"Again with the 【Flying Spell】—"

The same topic continued to appear for the subsequent Second Tier Apprentices in turn.

"Professor Margaret might as well have us all just cast 【Flying Spell】 directly and skip the drawing—"

Having already passed the exam, Janna and Vivian didn’t rush to the first floor of the Magic Tower to join the team. Instead, they returned to their dorms to prepare what was needed for the upcoming “Three-School Joint Examination.”

Because the “Three-School Joint Examination” had very clear regulations on equipment, only Wizard Robes and wands that didn’t exceed magical power control limits were allowed; all other magical items such as runes and potions were strictly prohibited.

So upon returning to her dorm, Janna simply changed from the academy-issued Wizard Robe into the Raccoon Cat Robe and took only a single Verdant Wand, not even bringing her Thorn Bracelet.

"Ding—"

As the mechanical elevator swiftly descended, Janna saw Vivian already waiting at the dormitory entrance.

"Did you go back to your dorm?"

Seeing Vivian in the same outfit as before, Janna asked with slight confusion.

"I did, but I realized there was nothing I needed to change, so I came straight out."

Looking at Vivian, who wore a blue-and-white Wizard Robe and held a wand entirely black with a transparent crystal embedded at the tip, Janna double-checked:

"And that robe you’re wearing? It better meet the requirements."

"You mean this? It’s just an old cheap one I bought long ago. It only has an auto-cleaning function more than the academy-issued robes. Ever since I went into seclusion, my family hasn’t let me wear any magical gear—they said it would interfere with my training."

"That makes perfect sense."

After inspecting her from head to toe, Janna and Vivian briskly walked toward the Magic Tower. When they reached the entrance, they found that the first floor was already crowded with people.

"Do we really have this many Second Tier Wizard Apprentices in our academy?"

Seeing mostly unfamiliar faces inside, Vivian tilted her head and whispered to Janna.

"All Second Tier Wizard Apprentices across the three grades together would roughly add up to this number."

This “Three-School Joint Examination” targeted all Second Tier Wizard Apprentices in the three wizard academies of Turin.

Therefore, besides those like Janna who had advanced early during their first year, most were actually second- or third-year apprentices.

To be honest, this kind of examination model was unfair for those like Janna who had only just advanced to Second Tier Wizard Apprentice.

Just the third-year apprentices who had studied for at least three years already far surpassed them in both knowledge and Spirit Power levels, with some being only one step away from breaking through the 29th Wizard Level.

"Making us compete with these senior apprentices is just setting us up to fail, isn’t it?"

After spotting a few somewhat familiar third-year faces, Vivian whispered again in a voice only the two of them could hear.

"Don’t worry. In past ‘Three-School Joint Examinations’, similar cases occurred. So, each grade has a different starting point score."

Hearing this, Vivian’s previously tense expression relaxed a little.

If there were initial score thresholds, then even the first-year apprentices like them would have a chance to rank in the “Three-School Joint Examination.”

"Time’s up. Apprentices eligible for the ‘Three-School Joint Examination’, line up to collect your nameplate. Anyone who doesn’t collect within ten minutes will be considered to have forfeited the exam."

With a voice as sharp as if piercing one’s soul, the once noisy hall instantly fell silent.

Looking toward the source, they saw a graceful black cat sitting upright atop a magical Crystalline Wall,

quietly staring at the crowd with deep yellow eyes.

"It’s Miss Bell—"

Seeing the long-unseen Black Cat Bell suddenly appear on the first floor of the Magic Tower, Janna took one look and immediately pulled Vivian to join the queue.

Only, after scanning around, Janna didn’t spot Liji Silks, who was also a Second Tier Wizard Apprentice, among the lineup.

"Ding—"

Just as the apprentices queued to receive their nameplates, a clear chime rang out by the mechanical elevator.

As the elevator doors opened, the three First Tier Wizards representing the highest combat strength of White Coral Academy slowly approached the Crystalline Wall.

Anthony-Rook, Grace Eva, Mary Margaret.

Aside from Professor Uta and Lilith Mage, all the official wizards leading White Coral’s “Three-School Trial” this time were core subject instructors—excluding the headmistress, of course.

"There are 102 apprentices registered for the exam."

Upon hearing Black Cat Bell’s voice, Anthony-Rook nodded expressionlessly.

"A bit more than I expected."

He quickly swept his gaze across the indistinguishable faces of the apprentices.

It was only when he spotted Janna that the face-blind Anthony-Rook slightly paused, then turned to the two female wizards beside him and said:

"If there’s no issue, then let’s set out—"
