So I Became a Witch and Started Doing Daily Quests

Ch. 123

Chapter 123: Undead Summoning

"Name your price. I want the soul in your hands."

Having watched Anthony-Rook absorb the soul of the Darksun Apostle, Lucia Heigel went straight to the point with her proposed trade.

"Two apprentice slots for the White Tower Trial."

"Are you dreaming!?"

Lucia Heigel, who had initially maintained a somewhat polite tone, showed a renewed surge of magical energy at Anthony-Rook’s demand, the power around her flaring up once again.

"Then one apprentice slot for the White Tower Trial. And I want full participation in this soul experiment. Otherwise, forget it."

Seeing Anthony-Rook’s firm stance that left no room for negotiation, Lucia Heigel, aware of her disadvantage, took a deep breath and swiftly regained her composure.

"Fine. Let's sign the contract."

After weighing the pros and cons, Lucia Heigel agreed to Anthony-Rook’s terms. The wizard deal was completed in a silvery-white contract ritual spell.

"Anthony, just because you have an extra slot doesn’t mean your academy will actually produce a trial seed."

"That’s none of your concern. I suggest you focus on finding the traitor in Blackbone Grove."

"Hmph!"

Taking the crystal ball and stung by the disgraceful truth, Lucia Heigel merely gave a cold snort before dissolving into a rising mist and quickly flying out of the Shadow World.

"Rumble—"

Just as Anthony-Rook and Janna were about to leave, the earth roared and trembled violently, causing the two to halt mid-step.

"It’s an earthquake."

Crack—

A sharp ripping sound echoed in Janna’s ears.

The crack they had entered through, which had only been half a person in length, suddenly widened.

At the same time, a dense wave of dark energy erupted from the fissure.

"Whoosh—"

Without hesitation, Anthony-Rook grabbed Janna and flew out of the Shadow World.

"So this was the Darksun Church’s plan—"

Looking out at the vast landscape, the shadow fissures scattered across the Misty Forest expanded rapidly due to the renewed tremors.

The shadow creatures, previously culled by the apprentices, swarmed out from the fissures like locusts.

"Do you know any flying witchcraft?"

"I do."

"Good. Stay close to me and don’t run off."

"Yes, Headmaster."

Everchanging Form—

With a silent chant, a pair of emerald butterfly wings unfurled from Janna’s back. Almost in tandem with Anthony-Rook’s ascent, Janna followed closely behind.

Partial Transfiguration?

A flicker in his peripheral vision caught Anthony-Rook’s attention—the rapid fluttering of Janna’s butterfly wings made his brow twitch. But soon, sensing the increasingly thick shadow energy within the Misty Forest, he refocused on the upcoming casting ritual.

"Release this."

Seeing the rune Anthony-Rook handed over, Janna immediately understood his intention.

"I remember you're also a summoning apprentice, right? Watch my casting movements carefully and don’t lose focus."

"Yes, Headmaster."

Whoosh—

As a massive firework bloomed above Janna’s head, she completed the rune release and concentrated entirely on observing Anthony-Rook’s casting movements.

"That’s the academy’s emergency recall signal!"

Deep in the Misty Forest, Richard Eva, who was teamed up with Soro Flare to eliminate shadow creatures, immediately recognized the blue-white fireworks in the sky.

"Hiss hiss—"

A pungent stench rushed in.

Dodging swiftly to the side, a corrosive shadow ray narrowly missed Richard Eva, exploding behind him.

"It’s a Twin-Headed Serpent! Run!"

Before them stood a massive serpent with two human-like heads, featureless and with black hollows in place of eyes.

A mere glance made the hair on Richard Eva and Soro Flare's arms stand on end.

"Hiss hiss—"

The serpent's body twisted, slicing through shadows.

Despite its massive size, the Twin-Headed Serpent moved with terrifying speed.

In an instant, it half-lifted its body and blocked Richard Eva and Soro Flare's escape path.

"Damn it! Why is a pre-wizard level shadow creature coming out of the fissure!"

Just like the Howling Moon Alpha they had encountered in the Mirror Layer Domain, the Twin-Headed Serpent possessed a physical body far surpassing a Third Tier Apprentice, nearing that of a full-fledged wizard.

Caught off guard, even if a regular Third Tier Apprentice escaped such a beast, the outcome would still be grim.

"Looks like we’ll have to use the Teleportation Scroll."

Knowing they couldn’t win, Richard Eva and Soro Flare exchanged glances and simultaneously pulled out a small scroll from their Interdimensional Storage Pouches.

"Do it—"

Buzz—

Just as they were about to activate the scroll, a sudden change occurred.

Before they could react, a pale light surged, and dozens of skeletal guards wielding bone knives appeared before them.

"It’s—the Headmaster!"

"It’s the Headmaster’s undead army!"

Seeing the blue-white flames flickering in the skulls’ eye sockets, Richard Eva and Soro Flare were overjoyed.

The skeletal guards, fearless and ferocious like elite warriors, charged at the Twin-Headed Serpent with bone knives in hand.

"Still running?"

"Are you kidding? Of course we kill it first!"

Scenes of the undead saving the day played out across every corner of the Misty Forest.

Using the mist branches carried by each White Coral Academy apprentice as anchor points, Anthony-Rook easily located all his academy’s students and executed precise summoning deployments.

"As long as there’s anchor point positioning, in theory, a contract creature can be summoned to any location through the Spirit Realm as a platform."

"Of course, the same applies to the Death Realm, which almost overlaps with the Material Plane."

Unlike the Spirit Realm, an extra-dimensional world independent of the Material Plane, the Shadow World, Death Realm, and Dream Demon World are all companion realms that emerged after the Material Plane.

These companion realms, whose forms nearly overlap with the Material Plane, are theoretically born dependent on it.

If not for the severe depletion of the Material Plane’s vitality caused by resisting the gaze of Outer Gods, there would be no tolerance for companion realms like the Shadow World to repeatedly invade and attempt to consume the plane’s source in a bid for usurpation.

Fortunately, aside from the Shadow World, relatively stable realms like the Death Realm and Dream Demon World rarely invade the Material Plane.

This has spared many wizards across the settlements considerable worry.
