Ch. 113
Chapter 113: Academy Mission
Clearing away the unrealistic thoughts from her mind, Janna opened the Character Panel before entering a meditative state.
"【Quick Healing】: Enhances the activity of skin tissue around wounds, accelerating their healing."
This witchcraft was the second spell taught today in the 【Introductory Medical Studies】 class by the headmaster, aside from the 【Shaping Spell】.
The principle was to use the properties of active magical particles, attaching them to the surface of a wound through magical control to speed up healing.
Though the theory sounded simple, executing it was quite strenuous. Unlike other spells that only required mystical incantations and casting gestures, this spell demanded micro-control from the apprentice.
A single misstep could easily lead to failure.
“No wonder not many people enroll in 【Medical Studies】. Even this most basic spell is so difficult to cast…”
For apprentices from the bloodline side, wound healing took only a few breaths. Even those who hadn’t mastered 【Quick Healing】 could rely on a 【Coagulation Potion】 to stop bleeding and recover. Though less efficient than the 【Quick Healing】 spell, the difference wasn’t too large.
“While 【Medical Studies】 has immense potential in the long run, its steep entry threshold and the intense effort required early on are enough to deter most people—”
After upgrading 【Quick Healing】 to its current level cap, Janna closed the Character Panel and then switched off the bedside lamp.
“Kiichi—ah—”
The moonlight was faintly cold, tree shadows swaying.
Listening to the soft chirping of insects outside the window, Janna’s heart gradually settled.
“Summer is finally here—”
The next morning.
Due to the mandatory academy missions, all classes at White Coral Academy were suspended starting today. However, compared to usual, White Coral Academy was unusually lively.
“The academy is so shady, requiring first-year apprentices to hunt only in the outer region of the Misty Forest. They don’t care at all about Blackbone Grove or the Mist Tower.”
“That’s why the death rates at those two academies stay so high.”
Listening to Vivian’s complaints, Janna also hoped to earn more Academic Credits through this mission, but the academy’s restrictions meant she could only search small spatial rifts on the forest’s outskirts, so her returns would inevitably be limited.
“When will my new wand finally have its moment to shine!”
Watching Vivian, who looked as if she couldn’t wait to charge into a shadow rift and go on a rampage, Janna couldn’t help but find it amusing.
“Don’t worry. Even in the forest outskirts, there are plenty of hidden shadow creatures. You’ll definitely get your chance to shine.”
“Besides, it’s a sensitive period right now. Apart from spatial rifts, there’s also the Darksun Church.”
Hearing Janna’s reminder, Vivian reluctantly nodded, acknowledging her words.
Earlier this morning, White Coral Academy had issued another notice.
The content matched what Hugh Stone had described during the meeting at the White Ballet Shoes Club.
The mission was issued by Blackbone Grove Academy, and the objective was to locate remnants of the Darksun Church and assist in their eradication.
Moreover, based on information provided by Blackbone Grove, the remnants of the Darksun Apostles were believed to be hiding deep within the Misty Forest. Severely cursed and weakened, their threat level was greatly reduced.
As long as students could provide specific intelligence and assist in the cleanup, Blackbone Grove Academy would reward them with a top-tier apprentice witch tool or something of equal value.
The rewards were extremely generous.
Even Vivian, who was never short on money, was tempted upon hearing this. After all, a top-tier apprentice witch tool was something rarely encountered even in Third Tier Wizard zones. Owning one would allow her to dominate throughout her apprentice stage.
Of course, that was assuming the tool was for combat use. If it was a utility-type tool, though still valuable, its worth would be less compared to general-use tools like the [Guardian’s Veil], wands, wizard robes, or flying witch tools due to technical limitations on usage.
“Fine then. The forest outskirts it is. Let’s team up and try to place first in class—”
“Janna, morning.”
As Vivian fantasized about tomorrow’s hunt, a deep female voice suddenly sounded behind them.
“Bell, so it’s you. Morning.”
“When did you two get so close?”
Seeing the one who had called out to Janna was none other than Bell Moonshadow—who had been beaten half to death multiple times in the combat arena—Vivian eyed the two suspiciously, lowering her voice so only she and Janna could hear.
“While you were out on a mission.”
“Out on a mission—? That was just a few days, and you two already—hooked up?”
Though still maintaining her ladylike demeanor, Vivian’s gaze toward Bell Moonshadow had become noticeably wary.
“Don’t be ridiculous.”
As Bell Moonshadow approached, their whispering ceased.
“Janna, have you formed a team?”
“Yes, I’m with Vivian.”
Upon hearing Janna’s response, the fake smile on Vivian’s face suddenly became more genuine.
“The academy recommends three-person teams. If it’s just the two of you, I’d like to join.”
“I’m fine with it, but it depends on Vivian.”
At that, Bell Moonshadow looked toward Vivian beside Janna.
“Vivian, is that okay?”
Facing the gaze of both, Vivian casually shrugged.
“I’m fine with it. I’ll go with Janna’s choice. But I think a two-person team is enough. After all, there aren’t many shadow creatures in the outskirts. With more people, splitting the loot gets tricky—”
“I can sense the location of shadow rifts.”
Before Vivian could finish, Bell Moonshadow bluntly presented her value to the team.
“So, am I qualified to join?”
Seeing the confident and arrogant expression on Bell Moonshadow’s face, Vivian’s expression froze.
She then couldn’t help but purse her lips.
“You’re qualified. I agree.”
“Thank you.”
Watching Vivian finally nod in agreement, Janna found herself inexplicably amused.
“In that case, the three of us will team up—”
“Wait a moment.”
Before Janna could finish, Bell Moonshadow interrupted her directly. She slightly raised her chin, her gaze sharp as she stared at Vivian.
“Since I’ve proven my value, I wonder if you’re qualified to join this team.”
Still with that same proud tone, only this time Bell Moonshadow wasn’t aiming it at Janna, but at Vivian, whom she had never taken seriously.
