Sky-cracking Rider

Chapter 294: Section 293 - Rabbit Valley

"Mr. Xia Ji is actually a very enthusiastic gentleman; the conflict was initiated by his executive manager who probably acted too eagerly to showcase his capabilities, compounded by poor character, leading to a significant mistake."

Having resolved a major concern and incidentally making peace with the "neighbors" of the Aircrew Base, Hanna Gagar had been running around tirelessly but could now finally breathe a sigh of relief.

"That executive manager is a menace!"

Duty manager Mahnam continued through gritted teeth, "Boss, you didn't see it, but that guy was not only arrogant but also incredibly despicable. Even the supervisor Klaibel couldn't stand it. If you and Mr. Xia Ji hadn't reached an agreement, I'd have definitely chopped off that bastard's head."

This left him with a great regret, as he was one step away from completing his task.

"Don't worry, Mr. Xia Ji agreed to dismiss the executive manager of Ximen Temple Kong. This time, Aircrew Base 909 suffered a lot, and someone has to take responsibility."

Hanna Gagar's words were also a subtle warning to this duty manager not to act on his own like Ximen Temple Kong and thus bring unnecessary trouble to the company and the base.

As a duty manager, once one makes a misstep, the damage caused far exceeds the errors made by ordinary employees.

After reminding Mahnam with her words, Boss Hanna then turned towards Chen Fei, who was also a troublemaker—though not making serious errors, his minor continuous mistakes could catch anyone off guard.

Understanding her instantly, he patted his chest and said, "I'll take responsibility for my own mistakes, I won't drag down the company."

True to his word, so far, the blunders made by Chen Fei had mostly been resolved by himself without dragging the entire enterprise into the mess like the executive manager of Aircrew Base 909 did.

"I'm glad you're aware of that," said Hanna Gagar, raising her glass.

Her position nurtured an increasingly oppressive aura that involuntarily drove people to carefully ponder and understand things on their own.

"Jiu!"

The little bird brought back, tucked in its nest, was soundly asleep.

Unlike people who could stay up late and drink, the bird adhered to its routine of eating, playing, and sleeping when it was time, never waking up even if called.

Three days later, the logistics supplier contracted by Jiu Defense, Tao's Security Service Company, sent the first batch of supplies via a Sky Patrol Ship.

The approximately forty-meter-long wide-body Sky Patrol Ship landed directly on the tarmac, bringing a load of fresh vegetables and fruits, along with various types of cement and other materials.

Due to the inevitable attacks during the previous corporate wars, Aircrew Base 911 had many buildings and facilities damaged. Although repairs were promptly made, the reserve of construction materials had been largely depleted.

During the recent projects, which involved assembling forty plantation greenhouses and a single-line steel rail with all the manpower of the base, the remaining stock of building materials was almost exhausted.

The first batch of supplies from Tao's Security Service Company came just in time to replenish the reserve for Aircrew Base 911.

Chen Fei also received the seed grass and over two hundred pairs of breeding rabbits he wanted.

First, they plowed the whole valley with farming machinery, simultaneously adjusting the water veins to retain the water sources within the valley. Then, they scattered a mixture of ryegrass, corn grass, and purple alfalfa seeds, coupled with fertilizer pellets, throughout the valley.

A few days later, the stimulated seeds started to sprout, at which point the rabbits from afar were released into the steel-mesh enclosed valley.

Before the artificially sown grass grew, the existing vegetation in the valley was ample for the rabbits to feed and multiply. Given the rapid growth rate of professional pasture grass, food was soon abundant.

Chen Fei also announced a reward for the students of Teacher Shen Fei to collect healthy, intact live rabbits to enhance the population in the valley.

The students welcomed the opportunity to supplement their household incomes and, with great enthusiasm, raided the rabbit holes across the hills after school. They also accidentally gathered many other small mammals, and Chen Fei paid them in cash for all the herbivores and low-flying land birds that ended up mixed with the rabbits, all dumped together in what was named "Rabbit Valley."

The students' parents were also pleased, catching quite a number of rabbits themselves.

In just a few days, the rabbit population inside Rabbit Valley effortlessly surpassed a thousand, with other small animals exceeding two or three hundred.

In fact, from the day after the breeding rabbits arrived, two pairs had already hurriedly given birth to two litters of young rabbits. By the time official release began, the mouse-sized young rabbits were already able to scamper all over, disappearing at the drop of a hat.

However, Chen Fei was puzzled to also see several semi-grown pheasants frolicking in the underbrush.

Indeed, these were the clucking young pheasants that would grow to crow constantly; laying eggs either daily or every alternate day, scattering them everywhere like landmines, impossible to collect without occasionally stepping and breaking them, leaving one's shoes covered in egg white and yolk.

It must have been those rascals stealing the young chicks from Teacher Shen Fei's backyard and mixing them with the wild chicks, tricking his Star Yuan.

Every day, Rabbit Valley changed appearance. The planted ryegrass, corn grass, and purple alfalfa were sprouting everywhere, creating a lush, seemingly endless expanse.

The number of rabbit burrows also increased daily, with newborns constantly appearing. Long rabbit ears were visible all over, and the population expanded at a visibly rapid pace, even exceeding Chen Fei's expectations, attracting many raptors and predators.

The terrestrial predators could do nothing against the steep valley walls and steel wire fences at both ends, while only a few raptors occasionally managed successful stealth attacks. Yet, such losses were negligible when compared to the population of rabbits within the valley.

Among them, a group of wolves were familiar to Chen Fei. He called them over, rewarded each wolf with a stick of sausage, and casually fitted them with collars to ascertain their identity.

After all, Chen Fei was the leader of a large pack of over three hundred wolves, but not the king of all the wolves in the Xingdu Kush Mountain Area, as not all the Asian gray wolves were willing to heed his commands.

Chen Fei, while patrolling Rabbit Valley with Pure Light Sparrow Xiao Jiu in hand, thinking himself the master of all under heaven, sometimes also brought along the Shadow Wolf "Ah Mao". He nonchalantly tied a leash and led the way, confident that mother Shadow Wolf "Ah Mao" wouldn't dare to object or even feel entitled to object.

The name "Ah Mao" was rather inappropriate, and if anyone was to blame, it was Teacher Shen Fei's wicked sense of humor. A perfectly good dog had once borne this name. Now Chen Fei had merely followed suit like the compliant Xiao Sui and Cao Gui—since "Ah Mao" had eaten "Ah Mao", having gobbled up Teacher Shen's dog, it had to inherit the dog's name. There was no madness in this.

The Asian Gray Wolves, who accepted Chen Fei as the current Wolf King, were less polite to the previous generation's Wolf King, sometimes even baring their teeth and growling threateningly.

Succeeding the king and dispelling the loser, the dethroned Shadow Wolves, despite being more advanced than mere beasts, were seen by their former subordinates as nearly equivalent to a disgrace that deserved execution.

A group of gray wolves glared maliciously at the Shadow Wolf, who growled back defiantly.

Shadow Wolf "Ah Mao" was very angry; these fools dared to deny him recognition as a wolf, and he really wanted to bite them all to death since, technically, they weren't really of the same species, causing him no moral dilemma.

Chen Fei noticed the Shadow Wolf trying to act out and directly grabbed its ear, threatening, "Kill a wolf, you must eat a wolf. If you can't eat it, you execute it forcefully!"

Little Bird landed on the Shadow Wolf's head, sticking its tiny head into another wolf's ear and screeched viciously.

"Tweet!!!"

Even the faintest sound can thunder into the ears when close enough.

Truly, a chip off the old block.

Despite being on the same level and even having a size advantage, the Shadow Wolf was thoroughly oppressed by Pure Light Sparrow.

Typically unable to fight back, provoke further, or escape, the wolf had no choice but to accept its fate.

Fortunately for Little Bird, its tiny size ensured it wouldn't eat the wolf, sparing its life.

Chen Fei, firmly pulling on the leash, dragged the stubborn, unyielding Shadow Wolf from the tensed group of gray wolves, marking deep scratches on the ground, and threw it onto the large tricycle before flying back home.

As the tricycle ascended, Shadow Wolf "Ah Mao" gradually relaxed, throwing his head back and letting out a mournful howl.

That was probably all that remained of the former Wolf King's pride.

On the ground, responded echoes of howling wolves resounded, inciting an even more vigorous howl from the Shadow Wolves.

Translated into human terms, the exchanges would be:

"F*ck you!"

"Why the howl?"

"Howling at you, what about it!"

"Try howling again?"

"Let's just try it!"

"Come down here if you dare!"

"I won't come down, come up if you dare!"

"Coward, don't you run away!"

...

Wolves are basically straightforward boys or girls, direct and to the point with only a few phrases, no fancy tricks.

Returning, when passing by Teacher Shen Fei's mountain school, Chen Fei's large tricycle did not plan to land, but without courtesy, directly dropped the troublesome Shadow Wolf down.

A piercing scream fell from the sky!

Luckily, there was a shadow on the ground, and the Shadow Wolf timely activated its Dark Element Innate Magic. Like a drop of water blending into a pond, it silently merged into the shadow and disappeared, then leaped out again neatly resolving the impact of the landing, sparing itself from getting smashed.

As soon as he returned to the Aircrew Base, Chen Fei received a text message from Boss Hana, instructing him to prepare a formal suit—a suit, Sun Yat-sen suit or Hanfu were all acceptable.

It was not until they drank together at night that Chen Fei complained in person.

"In this godforsaken place, where am I supposed to find formal attire? There's simply no use for it here!"

The key issue was his poverty; he couldn't afford fancy formal wear.

Hanna Gagel, however, like pulling a rabbit out of a hat, fetched a large, thick box from the bar cabinet of the small building.

"This is your formal attire, I picked out a Sun Yat-sen suit for you!"
