Chapter 1154: Training Center
Physical strike weapons rely on ammunition supply, and even though railgun weapons don't use propellant, they still require a large amount of all-metal combat units to unleash their power. On the contrary, directed-energy weapons can continuously operate within their lifespan as long as there's adequate energy supply and clear lines.
Both types of weapon systems have their advantages and disadvantages. If the energy supply is interrupted, highly consuming directed-energy weapons will quickly cease to function. Physical strike weapons, especially firearms, can continue to operate as long as the ammunition isn't depleted, until they are completely destroyed.
The mutants, like a tidal wave, have surrounded the entire Habulav City. The public spaceport within the district has also been heavily disrupted by the flying-type mutants. Many small aircraft can no longer take off safely; only medium and large airships can forcefully break out using protective barriers or repulsion shields.
By this time, those who reacted quickly have already filled various aircraft to the brim. When Chen Fei finally opened a new passage from the heavy criminal prison to the ground, the aircraft in the spaceport were almost gone. Those that could fly had already left Habulav, and the rest were either still under maintenance, too small to break through the flying-type mutants, or destroyed on the ground.
There were also small aircraft that took off forcibly, but they were soon attacked by mutants and crashed near the take-off and landing area. Fortunately, the safety system worked, and most people survived, but they had no way to leave Habulav anymore.
The two attack ships released by Chen Fei contained a total of 80 integrative tactical unmanned aerial vehicles, 96 tactical jets, 32 tactical bombers, 48 small transport airships, 400 combat mobility armor units, and 2000 combat robots, with an almost unlimited supply of ammunition as long as Chen Fei was alive.
The missile nests of the attack ships released hundreds of missiles, creating a massive "hole" in the swarm of flying-type mutants hovering over the public spaceport.
Then... resupply!
Although using missiles is greatly satisfying, relying heavily on resupply means that once supplies are exhausted, they immediately revert to their original state. This is where the sovereignties have leverage over Chen Fei. His psi skill's weaknesses and strengths are equally significant. Without a group, he can't function, and without the support of a sovereignty, not even a top conglomerate like Louis Industrial Company can cover all aspects.
Even though there are nearly a million people within the "Boundary Pearl" life space, self-sufficiency in wartime supplies would require at least two more zeroes added to the population base and enough resource extraction space. Otherwise, just synthesizing ammonia with three acids and two bases would consume a massive amount of air.
The "Boundary Pearl" life space isn't a bona fide planet. Extracting air for ammonia synthesis over a short period is fine, but prolonged extraction will inevitably affect air pressure and composition, which is even more problematic.
However, with the appearance of the two attack ships, the flying-type mutants hovering over Habulav were quickly suppressed. Large and tough mutants were directly killed by missiles or railgun shells, while smaller, numerous mutants were handled with cloud bombs and thermobaric bombs, resulting in wide-area devastation and debris falling like raindrops.
It's like the First Sovereign's Lunar New Year, with earth-shattering fireworks constantly blossoming over Habulav, and some thermobaric bombs dropping outside the city, annihilating large swathes in an instant.
Enthusiastic about using supersaturation strikes and high-powered munitions, Chen Fei's stockpile of tonne-level thermobaric bombs far exceeded Habulav's, even against an undamaged ammunition depot in Zone D.
Momentarily, the situation inside and outside Habulav District shifted slightly for the better. Those organizing the countermeasures also noticed the addition of Chen Fei, a war-specializing force, and he was flooded with data. The Artificial Intelligence AI "Adam" gained higher authority, dramatically improving combat efficiency without the risk of friendly fire.
When Chen Fei arrived at Training Center 11 in Zone C, he hadn't even entered before he saw a crowd packed tightly outside in long lines.
Many people who couldn't catch a flight from the public spaceport left Habulav, and the city's internal clashes intensified. Upon hearing that Training Center 11 in Zone C had become a rare safe zone, word of mouth spread rapidly, nearly overwhelming the facility.
To avoid a sudden influx of people, queues and inspections were necessary to prevent those with ulterior motives from sneaking in and causing trouble.
With a large forest, there are all kinds of birds; unruly individuals are never absent. Fortunately, the cohesive organization within Training Center 11 selected the elite forces they could find, removing those causing disturbances from the queue to enter the facility. Rather than expel them, they restricted their movements and detained them in a centralized location.
"Hey! You, line up, line up!"
Just as Chen Fei prepared to cut through the queue and enter the facility, someone stopped him.
"Wait a moment, I need to make a call!"
Chen Fei looked around, noting the disdainful and schadenfreude-filled glances and halted his impulsive attempt to forge ahead. He stopped and took out his phone to make a call.
"Miyoshi, I'm outside, come get me!"
The three-person team intercepting Chen Fei leisurely waited for him to finish the call before reminding him, "Finding someone won't work; everyone must follow the rules. Go get in line, quickly!"
Seeing that Chen Fei didn't attempt to advance further, their attitude improved significantly, distinguishing him from those hell-bent on breaking the rules.
"It's alright, I'm waiting for someone. It won't take long and won't hold you up."
Chen Fei did not proceed to the end of the queue.
"In that case, you have at most one minute, or else you must queue up!"
One member of the team maintaining order, seeing the young man's defiance, offered a chance.
Their attention returned to the long queue.
Less than a minute had passed—only ten seconds—when a figure suddenly appeared beside Chen Fei.
"You came out? I thought I might have to fetch you!"
It wasn't the Monk who came to meet Chen Fei; it was Heseman Brown, the S-Class Space Ability User.
"Oh! Mr. Brown!" ×3
The three people in front of Chen Fei were taken aback; they hadn't expected the young man to actually locate someone with a single call, let alone one of the key figures in Training Center 11, an S-Class Space Ability User, the sole top-tier ability user here.
"Oh, Roland, Keris, Song Ben, you've worked hard. This is 'Rookie,' the true leader of the Refuge at Training Center 11 in Zone C. He just came over from the heavy criminal prison; he's the one who arranged for us to house the refugees here."
To dispel their doubts, Heseman Brown gave them a brief introduction to Chen Fei.
"Hello, I'm very sorry!"
"Apologies for not recognizing you!"
"Please forgive our impudence."
The trio was taken aback, realizing they'd actually stopped a big shot. Although it was part of their duty, they were still somewhat flustered.
"It's alright, you're just doing your duty. As long as the rules are followed, it's commendable."
Without rules, nothing can be achieved. Moreover, the three weren't in the wrong, and Chen Fei wouldn't be so petty as to get angry or vent.
"Let's go inside and talk!"
Heseman Brown was about to use a "Space Transmission" to take Chen Fei into the training center.
"Wait a moment."
Suddenly, around Chen Fei appeared one container after another, from which fully armed combat robots emerged neatly and in unison, numbering in the thousands.
He said to the three-person team in front of him, "These 3,000 combat robots are now under your command, responsible for patrolling and the outer defense line."
"Oh, okay!"
The team's leader immediately stood at attention.
The previously overstretched security force suddenly became ample, no longer strained to deal with emergencies.
"Let's go! The situation isn't very optimistic here, but now that you're here, everything will be easier."
The S-Class Space Ability User took Chen Fei and vanished from the spot; Ability Users can directly manipulate the rules, consuming far less than Battle Qi and magic. Short-range movement, even with passengers, isn't very taxing.
The two of them arrived directly in the command room of Training Center 11.
No less than a hundred people were gathered here. Voices of phone calls and discussions rose and fell, with everyone busy.
"Hi everyone, I'm 'Rookie,' but those who know me prefer to call me... 'tyrant'!"
Among those present were Neanderthals, who shivered with fear at the sight of Chen Fei.
