Skill Tree Chronicles: One Piece

Chapter 39: CHAPTER 39

"Sir, please spare me!"

Spandam fell to his knees with a thump.

Meng De offered his sword to Shen Yuan as if presenting a sacred treasure.

Shen Yuan accepted the sword with a faint smile and began to examine it carefully.

"Did I say you could leave?"

Spandam, who had just begun turning to flee, froze in place.

The moment seemed to replay itself.

He stood rooted in fear, too terrified to move under the weight of that voice!

Shen Yuan tossed the sword aside.

He bent his knees, compressing every muscle and ounce of strength to its peak.

Then his figure shot into the sky like a launched cannonball!

He flipped midair, assuming a boxing stance!

The punch descended with the force of a collapsing mountain, dragging a swirling wind behind it!

A sharp sonic boom exploded across the tower.

Spandam instinctively looked up—

What he saw turned his face pale!

His legs gave out, and his entire body trembled uncontrollably!

What kind of attack is this?!

It was the last question that flickered in Spandam's fading consciousness.

Before he could move—

The blow crashed down with a force like divine retribution!

"Justice!!"

The iron fist struck Spandam's skull like a missile from heaven!

BOOM!!

His head was instantly flattened, his entire body compressed grotesquely like a page in a manga panel—completely two-dimensional.

When Shen Yuan rose from the rubble, Spandam had become a warped caricature embedded in the ground.

Shen Yuan clenched his fist and casually muttered, "Still a bit too light... but it'll do."

He picked up the sword again and stepped into the Tower of Justice, beginning his hunt for treasure among the ancient files, hidden safes, and confiscated devil fruits.

Elsewhere, the gates of Enies Lobby had been thrown wide open by the assaulting pirates!

"Everyone, charge Judicial Island and take everything of value!"

Marco shouted, his phoenix flames flickering, while Izo and Joz broke through the inner defenses, leading the Whitebeard remnants toward the vaults.

...

Naval Headquarters, Marineford.

"Buru... bu... buru... bu...!"

The Den Den Mushi on Sengoku's desk rang out sharply, making his brow twitch.

"Hello?"

"No, no! Marshal Sengoku, I—uh—!"

Before the voice finished, the call dropped.

Two veins pulsed visibly on Sengoku's forehead. His expression was like a storm cloud.

"Buru... bu... buru... bu...!"

Another call.

"Speak."

Chaos roared on the other end—screams, clashes, gunfire, and wind howling!

"Marshal Sengoku!"

Again, the line cut out before any proper report.

Sengoku's frown deepened.

"Judicial Island?"

A sinking feeling took hold in his gut.

Enies Lobby was a pillar of the World Government's judicial power—if something went wrong there, the consequences would shake the entire world.

With growing urgency, Sengoku tried contacting the stationed vice admirals.

"Buru... bu... bu...!"

The Den Den Mushi chorused from multiple empty warships—silent. Abandoned.

Everyone had already jumped into the sea or fallen in battle.

Seeing this,

Garp, seated next to Sengoku, raised an eyebrow. "What's going on?"

"Someone tried to report in from Judicial Island... but they were cut off."

Garp's face shifted. He stood up.

The sharp lines of his crisp white uniform seemed to harden, emphasizing the legend that was "Garp the Fist."

"I'll go check it out."

"Go. And don't come back too quickly. Take it as a vacation," Sengoku muttered.

Garp grinned and bolted out of the office to gather his men.

Sengoku leaned back, mind spinning.

What did all this chaos mean?

"Buru... bu... bu...!"

The Den Den Mushi screamed again. Sengoku grabbed it grimly.

"Marshal Sengoku! This is Flying Squirrel—Judicial Island is under siege! The attacker is Shen Yuan! And he's not alone—several pirate groups are involved!"

Sengoku's hand tensed.

Shen Yuan?!

That name again!

He muttered darkly, "So that brat finally turned his blade toward the Navy."

Though shocked, he responded calmly, "Garp is en route. Hold out."

Then he slammed the receiver down.

Flying Squirrel stared at the dead Den Den Mushi tone, unable to believe what he'd heard.

The island is practically gone… and he says don't worry?

But Vice Admiral Garp is coming, after all. If anyone could stall the inevitable...

Still, Sengoku's frown had only deepened.

Attacking Enies Lobby wasn't just piracy—it was a declaration.

He opened a file drawer and pulled Shen Yuan's dossier once again.

Printed neatly were lines of data. A red circle highlighted the "Relatives" section.

Garp. Bell-mère. Both naval officers.

"Whether he sails as a pirate or assaults Judicial Island… it doesn't change the blood in his veins."

Sengoku exhaled long and hard.

He pressed his palms together, fingers locked in contemplation.

"Does this mean... Shen Yuan is declaring war on the World Government?"

A cold chuckle escaped him.

The thought was insane—like opening Pandora's Box.

And yet… the pieces were falling into place.

He shook his head, shoved the file back, and called Garp directly.

"Hello?"

"Garp, it's Shen Yuan. He's the one attacking Judicial Island."

Garp froze for a beat.

Then a small, proud smile curled on his lips.

"Alright. I got it."

He hung up and gave the order to slow the ship.

It drifted gently across the sea breeze, heading toward Enies Lobby without urgency.

"Vice Admiral Garp? Didn't they say it was urgent?" Bogart asked, confused.

"It's fine. No need to rush."

Bogart paused, trying to process.

"The attacker... it's Shen Yuan."

Garp said it without looking up, munching his donut.

Bogart stiffened.

"Shen Yuan…? What's that supposed to mean?"

Garp looked wistfully out over the sea.

"He told me his dream once... before he set sail. He said he wanted to see the whole world."

"And?"

"That kind of dream doesn't end in a little corner of the sea."

Bogart was still lost.

"What are you trying to say?"

"I'm saying," Garp said quietly, "he's my grandson."

He turned his back on Bogart.

The ship sailed on. The salty wind brushed against their coats.

A voice broke the silence.

"Vice Admiral Garp, incoming call."

Garp's eyes narrowed slightly.

Bogart handed him the Den Den Mushi.

"Vice Admiral Garp! This is Flying Squirrel. ETA to Judicial Island? We're at a critical point—!"

"Almost there."

Click.

The Den Den Mushi gave the dial tone.

Flying Squirrel stared in disbelief.

Silence.

That was the mood tonight across Judicial Island.

And then—

A flash of movement.

A figure dashed past, carrying a massive sack across their back, disappearing into the shadows like a ghost.

With a sweep of their cloak, they vanished—taking with them most of the treasure cache!

Flying Squirrel caught a glimpse.

He was stunned.

The long sword in his hand dropped with a metallic clang.

"Was that... Kaito Kid?!"
