Chapter 934: 931: Herbs
"There's an extremely precious herb over there."
Kiefer's voice drifted across the whispering winds of the grassy plains as his lifted left hand pointed at a slight rise in the emerald waves of grass that swayed endlessly beneath the faint glow of the Chained Firmament.
Corey raised a brow when he heard Kiefer's words. He narrowed his eyes and looked at where he was pointing.
Kiefer's finger shifted again, and again, and again, and it looked like he was tracing faint lines through the distance, marking several locations one after another.
"There are precious herbs scattered across this plain. Not just one... but many."
Corey's sharp eyes followed each point, and he increased the output of his Eyes of Omniscience to see if he could find something.
'Hmm... I noticed a few, but they might and might not be the precious herbs he was talking about.'
Even before Kiefer spoke, he had already noticed a few herbs which he decided to pick on their way out of the grassy plains. But since Kiefer had spoken, he decided to take detour.
'Let me see what he'll take us to. Who knows, I might see a herb that'll surprise me.'
Corey reduced the output of his Eyes of Omniscience, and looked at Kiefer.
Kiefer exhaled lightly, and his expression turned thoughtful before he began to elaborate. "The closest is two hundred meters ahead, near a slanted boulder. It's a Moondew Flower, a very rare Grade 3 herb. Nothing dangerous is around it, but it's concealed beneath a layer of illusory grass. It's very easy to miss it and walk right pass it."
"Hmm." Corey nodded slightly as he heard Kiefer's words.
Just like the power system of the Universe, the ranking system of herbs was similar.
There were Grade 1 herbs, Grade 2 herbs, Grade 3, Grade 4 herbs, Grade 5 herbs, and so on and so forth.
It was just like Tiers, and each grade was equivalent to the Tier.
Grade 1- Grade 3 herbs were Astral grade herbs.
Grade 4- Grade 6 herbs were Mystic grade herbs.
Grade 7- Grade 9 herbs were Immortal grade herbs.
Although there was a sub-grading system like low grade 4, mid grade 4, high grade 4, peak grade 4, and supreme grade 4.
There were five sub-grades of herbs, and supreme grade 4 herbs were herbs that could affect a being in a higher major tier.
For example, a supreme grade 4 herbs that can have an effect on a Tier 7.
There were herbs like this, and they were so rare that even the elites of the universe would wage battles and wars for one.
'A Moondew Flower. One of the herbs I saw and decided to pick on our way out of here.'
Corey looked in the direction of the Moondew Flower.
'Although it's just Grade 3, it's a very rare Grade 3 herb, a peak grade 3 herb to be exact. A herb that can rival even some Grade 4 herbs.'
'It can strengthen one's mana veins. Purify one's mana, and increase the spiritual power of whoever consumes and fully absorbs it... It's a very good herb that I don't need, but Kiefer needs it.'
'Especially if I can use it to create a pill. Hmm...'
A pondering expression appeared on Corey's face, but his attention was still on Kiefer who was just about to continue speaking.
Only a second had passed since he had those thoughts.
Kiefer shifted his finger to the east. "Farther out, seven hundred meters specifically, there is a Silverroot Vine. A Grade 4 herb. It's precious, and its stalks coil around an underground fissure. The danger there is minimal, though there are some small sized serpents that sometimes coil in the cracks. I think the serpents are baby serpents. Not sure."
Kiefer paused, then gestured northward, and his expression tightened slightly. "A kilometer away from here, and hidden beneath a natural mound is a Crimson Orchid, a Grade 5 herb. A very precious and rare herb, but it's guarded. The beast looks like a bull that's half the size of a building. It also has silver antlers, and I think it's a Tier 6 beast. We'll most likely have to kill it before taking it since that seems to be its territory."
Corey squinted his eyes, and looked in the direction Kiefer had pointed. 'Hmm. I saw the beast, but I didn't see the herb since it's hidden underneath a mound. Without Kiefer's talent, I might have missed it.'
Kiefer then pointed to the far horizon where the plains began to roll into gentle dips. "Beyond that place, at around two kilometers is another herb. A Verdant Lotus. A Grade 6 herb, and a very precious herbs. But there is danger around it. The Lotus grows at the center of a lake, and beneath the lake is a predator that would attack anything that comes for it. I don't know what it is and I could not see its form, but I believe it's a Tier 6."
"Hmm." Corey hummed with a light nod.
Kiefer lowered his hand slightly, then raised it again and gestured to the west. "Close to the lake is a cluster of Spiritgrass. Although it's just Grade 4 and it's not as precious as the Silverroot Vine l, there's a lot of it, so we can take it if possible. I can't sense any monster in that place, so I think it's free to take."
Kiefer furrowed his brows slightly, and then he exhaled softly. "There's one at the end of the grassy plains. I can't sense it very well since it's too far, but I believe it's a Grade 5 or a Grade 6 herb."
Corey raised a brow, and he looked at the edge of the grassy plains with his Eyes of Omniscience.
Meanwhile, Kiefer's fingers curled slightly, and a slight tremble escaped his lips as the light of anticipation and excitement flashed in his eyes as he looked at a distant ridge.
Corey, Pamela, Selene, and Willow noticed this, and they all looked at the ridge too.
Kiefer pointed. "On that ridge is the most precious herb on this grassy plains. It's a Celestial Dewfern, a Grade 7 herb."
Corey's eyes and that of Pamela's eyes widened in disbelief and shock the moment they heard his words. Even Selene and Willow were shocked.
"I don't know what exactly is there, but what I do know is that there are a lot of powerful beasts there, and it's extremely dangerous... at least to me." Kiefer muttered the last words quietly.
