Chapter 605: 604: Decision
Inside the Evolution Center, Corey stood in front a swirling portal with a calm, focused, but pondering light in his eyes. Occurring in his mind was the voice of Nina and his thoughts.
[Why are you hesitating? I thought you didn't want to undergo the Tribulations of Hell? Isn't that why you were so hell bent on obtaining as many infinity crystals as possible in the Shattered Dimension?]
Corey remained silent after hearing this. He chose not to answer because even he himself was not sure of his answer.
When he knew that he had the opportunity to go to the Evolution Center without interruption, he took it knowing that with the abilities he had shown, he might not be given such an opportunity again.
Surprisingly, he had not been stopped by anybody to bring him in for questioning or to bring him to one of the Outsiders forces and organizations. Although he had no idea why, he did not care.
Since he had the opportunity to increase his battle prowess by a wide margin, he would definitely take it. Besides, he was certain that he would need to be much stronger than he was in the Shattered Dimension.
[You already have the Water Infinity Crystal and the Omni weapon Infinity Crystal. You already have Infinity Crystals for Tier 3 and Tier 4. So why are you still hesitating?]
Nina's voice echoed in Corey's mind once again, and Corey closed his eyes. Nina remained silent and decided to give Corey some time to think, however, she already knew why Corey was hesitant in making a decision.
Power
The opportunity to gain more power
Although the Tribulations of Hell were meant for Tier 7s at least, clearing the first Tribulation of Hell had given him so much power that if not for it, he would not be as strong as he currently was.
He got a Cosmic Soul, and this in return changed the nature and state of his Library of Records to the Nexus of Repository. He also obtained so many stars of consciousness, Chucky, and many other abilities.
Clearing the first Tribulation of Hell perfectly had given him all these abilities, and this was just the first Tribulation of Hell.
What if he perfectly cleared the second Tribulation of Hell? What would he gain? What power would he gain? How powerful would he become?
The thoughts of these were so tempting to the point that Corey wanted to just barge into the second Tribulation of Hell, however, he was not so foolish to do such a thing.
He was still a Tier 2, and the Tribulations of Hell was meant for Tier 7s.
Apart from this, another factor that was deterring and at the same time encouraging Corey, was his sister.
He needed power to save his sister, and clearing the Tribulations of Hell can give him that power.
However, he also needed to be alive to save his sister, and the chances of failing and dying in the Tribulations of Hell was extremely high.
'To play it safe or to not play it safe?'
A wry smile appeared on Corey's lips as he considered the pros and cons of both options. He looked at his right hand and clenched it a few times before exhaling softly.
'I've made my decision.'
[And what is your decision?]
Corey looked at the swirling portal that was ten meters from him, and then his lips curled up slightly.
'I'll take the second Tribulation of Hell.'
Nina remained silent for three seconds, and then she spoke.
[Are you sure about your decision? If you die, you wouldn't be able to save your sister.]
Corey nodded, and then he walked to his left.
'Even if I'm able to save Anna, I'm sure I'll still need more power to keep both of us safe. I'll be making enemies in the future, very powerful enemies, and if I want to be able to keep Anna, me, and those I value safe, I'll need power.'
'I don't want to be in a situation where I'll regret not taking the opportunity to gain more power.'
'I need power… unfathomable power like the Paragon Ancestor to not be threatened by anything.' Explore stories at My Virtual Library Empire
Nina remained silent for a whole five seconds when she heard this, and then Corey stopped walking. A burning determination and calm could be seen in his eyes as he stared at the empty air in front of him.
[Since you've made your decision, then so be it… Just make sure you don't die… You haven't given me my chocolate and ice cream.]
A chuckle almost escaped Corey's lips when he heard this.
"Sure thing."
Corey smiled, and then he willed for the second Tribulation of Hell to begin.
A spatial crack emitting an extremely beautiful, tempting, and alluring aura appeared a meter in front of Corey. The crack emitted a combination of extremely beautiful colors of light as it beckoned for Corey to walk into it.
Corey felt a strange emotion of desire and longing tugging in his mind, but at the same time, he also felt his mind and body resisting this emotion.
His Cosmic Soul and his Demi-Paragon body fiercely resisted the seed of desire and longing towards the portal that appeared in him. Corey had no idea what was going on, but what he did know was that he could not think straight and he needed to take control of his body.
[Get yourself together, Corey, and enter!]
Nina's voice thundered in his mind, and Corey quickly shook his head. He looked around for a second, and he instantly knew that time had stopped. Only he could move, and the only direction he could move was towards the portal or away from it.
[Make sure you don't die, Corey. I still want my chocolate and ice cream.]
Corey's lips twitched when he heard Nina's words.
"I won't."
Without hesitation, Corey calmly walked into the beautiful spatial crack, and a second after he did, the crack closed, and time continued once again.
