Chapter 461: 460: Poison?
Thud
Thud
Thud
As the light vanished from Gunnarr's eyes, his head landed three times with a thud on the ground before rolling close to Selene's legs.
The blood from his head poured down his neck and flowed beneath her feet.
Selene stared at the wide eyes of Gunnarr with a solemn expression, and then she shifted her gaze toward Corey who stood in front of Gunnarr's headless corpse with his massive axe by his side.
'It's just like the Capra King… He also cut off the head of the Capra King.'
Selene shook her head with a light smile and approached Corey.
'I can't believe I no longer have any issue being his slave just because he's a monster… Well, as long as he does me no harm, then I'm fine with it.'
Selene gave herself a mocking smile, and then she stood beside Corey. She glanced at Gunnar's headless corpse for a few seconds before shifting her gaze to Corey.
"So, what are we going to do now?"
She asked, and Corey glanced at her before crouching to touch Gunnarr's corpse. To her slight surprise, the corpse vanished before her very eyes. She felt the space around the corpse getting manipulated so she knew that Corey had transported the corpse to his inventory
'He also takes human corpses? Not only monsters?'
Selene did not know why, but she felt disgusted by this thought and Corey's actions.
'Funny how I didn't have any problem being his slave before this.'
Just as Selene had this thought, Pamela's voice flowed into her ears.
"What do you need the corpse for?"
Pamela approached them while staring at Corey with curiosity. Corey glanced at her, and then he shifted his gaze to Gunnarr's head.
He replied while walking towards it.
"To study it."
Pamela raised her brows slightly, but a second later, she shrugged nonchalantly.
"I've not been able to study the body of Dreadkeeper before, but I'll allow you to keep it since you landed the killing blow."
Selene's left eye twitched, and she had the urge to comment on Pamela's words, but she decided to keep shut.
She knew that she had to get used to things like this since she was now Corey's slave.
Meanwhile, after Corey stored Gunnarr's head inside his Tri-Pupil Eyes, he looked at Selene.
"How many people are coming? What are their numbers,do you know how strong they are, and do you know how long it'll take them to reach us?"
Selene shook her head.
"I don't know how strong they are since I saw them from afar. I saw at least a hundred and fifty people leaving the city gates."
"The city gates?"
Pamela raised her brows, and Selene nodded.
"When you guys were talking with Gunnarr, I decided to climb a tree to make sure there was no incoming threat, and that was how I saw the army leaving the city gates while coming in our direction."
"As for how long it'll take for them to reach us if they continue with the same movement speed, then it should take them fifteen, ten minutes for them to reach us."
Corey furrowed his brows, and so did Pamela. He looked around, and then he looked back at Selene.
"Well, let's leave… If possible, I don't want to face an entire city just because of one bastard. Although I'm strong, I'm not that strong."
Corey turned, and then he spoke softly.
"Besides, it'll be a hassle battling an entire city. I don't have the time for that."
Pamela also nodded, and then she approached Corey with Selene by her side.
"Let's clean up this place."
Corey glanced at her, "Can you do it?"
Pamela raised her brows and chuckled, "Of course."
Corey gestured to the front, and Pamela walked in front of him.
Gaze of the Seraph
Her eyes changed, and then she spread out her arms. A second later, the earth beneath them rumbled.
Corey's eyes became pure white, and then he saw it. He saw the runes in the air and in the ground shift and bend to Pamela's will.
The ground beneath them moved, and the crater, cracks, Gunnarr's blood, and all the damage done to the ground healed. The ground went back to normal.
The runes in the air also moved, and Corey saw the remnant energies of their battle, the shattered runes in the air, and the remnant aura that remained in the air, vanish.
The environment went back to normal, and only fifteen seconds were used to accomplish this.
'Her control over runes is impeccable.'
Corey thought with a slightly awed expression before deactivating his Eyes of Omniscience.
'I can do the same thing, but it'll take me a longer time and more energy. Also, to do it so flawlessly would not be easy for me.'
'Rune Sage huh?'
After their surroundings went back to normal, Pamela slowly lowered her hand and then she exhaled softly with her eyes closed.
She turned towards Corey with a light smile, "If the Ascendant or any Tainted can manipulate time or turn back time, they might be able to revert what I've done but trust me, it won't be easy for them."
Pamela smiled, and Corey raised his brows before looking around once again. A thought came to his mind, and he furrowed his brows in contemplation.
'Should I?'
Corey thought for a few seconds, and then he shrugged.
'Sure, why not.'
Corey took a step forward, "Hold on, let me also do something that'll make our future battle easier."
Pamela and Selene stared at Corey with confused expressions. However, in the next second, their expressions changed to one of shock and a tinge of horror as they saw Corey take out two objects.
One was a vial filled with colorless liquid, and the other was a small dark green round pill that emanated an aura that sent chills down the spine of Pamela and Selene.
"Poison?" They both exclaimed at the same time, and Corey nodded.
