Chapter 133: Chapter 91.3: No-brainer and Grumpy

He slowly lifted his head, about to shout out.

"You want to know why, don't you?"

Thor turned in surprise to look at Chu Yang. How did this mysterious young man know what he was thinking?

"I deciphered part of the inscription. It says, 'Whoever is worthy shall lift this hammer and possess the power of Thor.'"

"You say this is your hammer, so… are you the Thunder God?"

Chu Yang smiled. "Or should I say, you were the Thunder God?"

The word "were" made Thor wince, and he bitterly admitted, "Yes, I was a god."

Chu Yang continued, "What caused you to lose your godhood?"

"I…" Thor stammered, reluctant to admit that his father, Odin, had stripped him of his powers due to disappointment in his arrogance and foolishness.

"I see cowardice in your eyes. Are you afraid to face certain truths?"

Thor was startled by Chu Yang's remark.

"Alright, enough small talk. You trespassed into a research facility and injured many agents. We have every right to detain you."

Phil Coulson appeared with a large team of soldiers and agents, subduing the now-disheartened Thor and taking him into custody.

Looking at Chu Yang, Phil asked, "Do you really believe he's a god? He seems… like a pretty down-and-out one."

Chu Yang smirked. "He's either a god or just crazy. Take your pick."

Phil Coulson sighed. "I'd rather not choose either."

"Try engaging him with some sincerity. He doesn't seem to have much guile. You might get something useful out of him." Chu Yang patted Phil on the shoulder, yawned, and headed off to rest, exhausted from decoding magical inscriptions.

"Sincerity again?" Phil muttered. Recently, this word kept coming up around S.H.I.E.L.D.

Moments later, a figure suddenly appeared in Thor's holding cell.

It was Loki, Odin's second son, Thor's younger brother.

However, Loki wasn't a blood relative; Odin had taken him in as an orphan during a war with the Frost Giants.

Now, Loki knew the full truth. He believed Odin favored Thor because of their blood relation and, feeling he had no chance of inheriting the throne, decided to betray Asgard and side with the Frost Giants.

At that time, Odin had fallen into a deep sleep.

Loki, temporarily assuming the throne, issued an order forbidding anyone from bringing Thor back from Earth.

But he had come to Earth himself, intending to deceive Thor.

"Because of your arrogance, Asgard has once again gone to war with the Frost Giants. Father, in his old age, couldn't bear the stress and has fallen into eternal slumber."

"Now, I have taken the throne and signed a peace treaty with Laufey. The terms of the treaty mean you will be exiled here forever and can never return to Asgard."

The news of his father's death struck Thor harder than his failure to lift Mjolnir.

Thor broke down in tears.

Loki turned away, a faint smile on his lips, and then disappeared from the room.

The God of Mischief was a master of lies.

Thor, with his simple mind, couldn't fathom that his beloved brother would deceive him over such a matter.

After a restful sleep, Chu Yang felt refreshed and prepared to continue his research on Mjolnir. The unique magic of Asgard provided him with fresh insights, enhancing his own magical prowess considerably. Chu Yang felt that if he could fully understand the runes on Mjolnir, his wandless casting ability could reach Dumbledore's level. Then, casting the three Unforgivable Curses would be no issue.

On his way, he thought about the downcast Thor. Taking a detour, he prepared two cups of coffee and headed to the room where Thor was being held. Upon entering, he found Thor's mood even more somber than before.

"Are you this upset just because you couldn't lift that hammer?" Chu Yang asked, directly removing Thor's restraints and handing him the coffee.

"It has nothing to do with Mjolnir…" Thor, holding the coffee, spoke sorrowfully. "My father, the king, has passed away, and it's all because of my selfishness and foolishness!"

A glint of understanding flashed in Chu Yang's eyes—it seemed Loki, the little trickster, had been here.

He immediately asked, "I can sense traces of magic here. Could you tell me who visited?"

Thor looked up, surprised. "You can detect Loki's magic? He's the most skilled sorcerer in all of Asgard, aside from my mother!"

"Loki." Chu Yang raised an eyebrow, smiling. "According to Norse mythology, you must be Thor, the God of Thunder, and your father is the legendary All-Father, Odin."

Thor nodded, "Yes."

Just then, the door opened again. It was Phil Coulson. Seeing Chu Yang there, he remarked with surprise, "I thought you wouldn't wake up until morning."

Chu Yang smiled, "Curiosity got the better of me."

Phil Coulson nodded. "Understandable; both scientists and wizards are drawn to knowledge."

"But next time, please don't unfasten a prisoner's electronic shackles without permission."

"My bad." Chu Yang shrugged. "He needed a cup of hot coffee for comfort—his 'father,' Odin, has passed."

Phil Coulson scratched his head, looking puzzled. "Wait, so he's not just a god, but a prince?"

Feeling something was amiss, Phil Coulson asked, "Who did you say? Odin? As in the Odin from Norse mythology?"

Chu Yang nodded. "Yes, the one and only—this guy here is Thor, the God of Thunder."

Unlike Norse mythology, Americans tend to favor Greek mythology, even producing countless movies blending Greek gods with American culture, leading some people worldwide to think of Greek mythology as American. Korea, in particular, has followed suit, emulating this trend closely.

Norse mythology, on the other hand, remains mostly unknown to the public. When people hear "king of gods," they instinctively think of Zeus, not Odin.

Phil Coulson, now connecting the dots to mythology, felt this was surreal, but his next thought was that Chu Yang might be bluffing. He wasn't even inclined to believe Thor was a god, let alone that he was the God of Thunder.

"Loki was just here," Chu Yang added casually, dropping a bombshell.

"Impossible," Phil shook his head. "The place is full of surveillance cameras."

"Cameras can't block a god's magic," Chu Yang scoffed.

"It's true," Thor added gloomily. "Loki was here. He's the one who told me about my father's death." He recounted the events in detail, his tone filled with sorrow.

Phil Coulson felt his head spin; with each revelation, his emotions were thrown into turmoil.

"Agent, there's no need to worry—this is most likely a false report," Chu Yang said after finishing his coffee with a contented sigh.

"Impossible!" Thor protested, frowning and glaring at Chu Yang. "Loki wouldn't lie to me about something like this."

Chu Yang smirked. "If Odin is indeed the legendary All-Father, would he die so easily? Just because he's old and under stress? You've only been on Earth for a few days."

Thor paused, starting to think that something was amiss. His father had just exiled him to Earth, so how could he pass away so soon?

Chu Yang continued, "And the idea of signing a peace treaty with the Frost Giants is laughable. If Odin were truly dead, with Thor exiled on Earth, what would Loki have to intimidate the Frost Giants with? If I were a Frost Giant, I'd invade Asgard right now rather than signing any peace treaty."

Suddenly, Thor realized the truth, and a furious roar erupted from his heart. "Loki!!!"

Phil Coulson quickly pulled Chu Yang aside, whispering, "You told me they were aliens—how are they gods now?"

Chu Yang replied, "Isn't it possible that gods are simply aliens?"

Phil Coulson was momentarily speechless, finding it oddly logical.

Chu Yang teased him, "You should call it in. If you delay any longer, you'll get scolded."

"I'll still get scolded even if I call now!" Phil Coulson muttered, sighing as he dialed.

"It's the middle of the night, Phil!" Nick Fury growled, barely containing his irritation. "What surprise do you have for me this time?"

Phil cleared his throat and stepped outside the room to explain.

Meanwhile, Thor approached Chu Yang, speaking in a deep voice. "I must return to Asgard and expose Loki's lies."

Chu Yang shrugged, "Telling me won't help you."

Thor fixed his gaze on Chu Yang, saying, "I saw it just now—you can summon Mjolnir. It responded to your call."

Chu Yang shook his head. "It wasn't Mjolnir responding, but the magic placed upon it. I only recited part of the incantation correctly."

Thor gaped, eyes wide as saucers. "Then recite the rest!"

Chu Yang chuckled, "Do you think Odin's magic can be used by just saying the words right? It's not a voice-activated AI."

Thor sighed, "Then what am I supposed to do? I've lost my worthiness and can't lift Mjolnir or summon the Bifrost."

Chu Yang replied, "That's your problem. You could stay on Earth and live out your days here if you want."

With that, Chu Yang left the room.

"Wait for me!" Thor hurried after him.

The two arrived at the area where Mjolnir was kept. Researchers were still trying to measure the energy waves emanating from the hammer. Due to Mjolnir's unique material, scientists had tried various tools without success, unable to make even a scratch on it. They abandoned the idea of a brute-force approach; even if they could, Phil Coulson wouldn't allow it. Breaking the Thunder God's hammer would lead to more than an international incident—it'd spark a cosmic conflict.

When Chu Yang arrived, the other staff left the area to avoid disturbing him. Phil had emphasized this numerous times. Thor, meanwhile, observed Chu Yang with curiosity, eager to see how he analyzed Asgardian magic.

After a while, Thor came to a dispiriting conclusion: he couldn't understand a thing. As the quintessential muscle-brain, Thor's intellect lagged miles behind Loki's. If not for good genes, he'd probably have ended up as a fitness instructor.

"You and Loki are similar—both incredibly smart. I never understood all this magical nonsense," Thor admitted, his tone complex. "Honestly, letting Loki have the throne isn't out of the question. After all, I'm unworthy to lift Mjolnir."

As Chu Yang scrutinized the runes, he replied, "Since you're exiled and unworthy, Loki, as Odin's last remaining son, is the logical heir. So why would he travel all the way to Earth just to deceive you?"

Just thinking about it made Thor's head hurt. "Can't you just explain it plainly?"

Chu Yang smirked. "There's only one reason—compared to you, he's even less fit for the throne."

Thor's jaw dropped. His first thought was… did his mother cheat?

Chu Yang ignored him, seizing the moment to study the hammer's runes, knowing Thor would soon take it back.

Meanwhile, Loki was finalizing a deal with the Frost Giants. In an ancient war, Odin had taken their prized Casket of Ancient Winters and, during the same conflict, discovered Loki as an infant and brought him to Asgard. Now, Loki sought to use the artifact in exchange for an opportunity: he wanted Laufey, the Frost Giant king, to kill Odin in his sleep. Laufey agreed, unaware this was all part of Loki's scheme. Loki intended to use this to position himself as Asgard's hero. If the plan succeeded, even if Thor reclaimed Mjolnir, he wouldn't be able to topple Loki from the throne.

Just as Loki thought everything was unfolding perfectly, Thor's friends secretly opened the Bifrost to travel to Earth and retrieve Thor.

Seeing the Bifrost activate, Loki turned and headed deep into the palace to unleash Asgard's ultimate weapon: the Destroyer Armor! Loki was determined to eliminate anyone standing in his way to the throne.
