Chapter 128: Chapter 90: Aizen's Invitation

Chapter 90: Aizen's Invitation

As Rukia and Renji discussed Chu Yang, an unexpected visitor appeared in Chu Yang's cell.

The visitor had short brown hair, wore black-framed glasses, and always maintained a gentle smile with a soft look in his eyes. His calm demeanor seemed a mismatch for someone in the role of a Soul Reaper.

With just a glance, Chu Yang guessed the man's identity.

Aizen Sosuke!

What is he doing here?

Chu Yang instantly grew cautious; during his trip to the Soul Society, the last person he wanted to encounter was this man.

"No need to be so tense."

Aizen smiled gently and introduced himself, "I'm Aizen Sosuke, the captain of the Gotei 13's Fifth Division. May I ask your name?"

"Yang," Chu Yang replied. "So, why would a Soul Reaper captain come all the way to a prison to see a mere captive like me?"

Aizen replied, "Because you have value."

Chu Yang paused, surprised. "Value?"

Aizen nodded. "You possess the potential to become a Soul Reaper, and you're qualified to aspire for even greater power."

Hearing this, Chu Yang felt a bit awkward. Originally, he had wanted old man Yamamoto to notice his talent so he could smoothly become a Soul Reaper. He hadn't expected to attract Aizen's attention first.

Damn it.

Things had really backfired this time.

"I don't understand what you're talking about."

Chu Yang turned his back and lay down, feigning ignorance and praying Aizen would just leave.

"What I mean," Aizen continued, "is that with your talent, you shouldn't be locked up here. You deserve better treatment."

"Once Rukia is executed, the Seireitei won't easily let a troublemaking outsider like you go. In the worst case, you could face execution as well."

Aizen spoke slowly, increasing his intensity as he gauged Chu Yang's reaction, trying to exploit any fear of death to force him to yield.

"My skills were inferior, so I surrendered. What you do with me afterward is your business," Chu Yang replied dismissively without looking back, as if life and death didn't matter to him.

Aizen frowned and warned, "I'm not deceiving you. If you harbor even the slightest hope, you'll face a miserable end."

Chu Yang groaned inwardly. Man, I just want a peaceful chance to get my Zanpakutō; I'm not interested in all this life-and-death drama.

A few words aren't enough to get me to join you in rebellion.

Even if Aizen won, Chu Yang had no desire to be connected with him. Knowing Aizen's character, he'd likely put Chu Yang on a lab table for experiments to fuel his own power.

So, Chu Yang lay back and ignored him, pretending to fall asleep in a comfortable position.

Aizen seemed puzzled by Chu Yang's indifferent attitude.

Nothing could get through to him? Is he really not afraid of death?

Before coming, Aizen had prepared several talking points, but now he felt as if his persuasive skills had no place here.

However, he was reluctant to give up on Chu Yang, as the latter's potential genuinely intrigued him.

"There isn't much time before the execution. If you change your mind, let the guards know," Aizen said before leaving.

This allowed Chu Yang to relax. His reason for turning his back on Aizen had been to avoid the danger of being caught in Kyoka Suigetsu's illusion.

With a Zanpakutō of such broken power, caution was necessary.

The next day, a shocking piece of news swept through the Seireitei.

Captain Aizen Sosuke of the Fifth Division had been murdered, his body pinned to a high wall by the killer. Chaos ensued.

Of course, the real Aizen hadn't died; that corpse was merely a decoy created by his Kyoka Suigetsu.

But no one could see through the ruse, leaving everyone completely fooled by Aizen.

Meanwhile, Ichigo and his friends managed to breach the Seireitei's barrier, but they became separated due to unforeseen circumstances.

On his way to the Senzaikyū, Ichigo encountered his first formidable opponent.

Kenpachi Zaraki.

As the only captain without Bankai, Kenpachi's strength was terrifying. Without some extreme measures, Ichigo had no chance of beating him.

After an intense fight, Ichigo briefly rested before setting off again toward the Senzaikyū to rescue Rukia.

He almost succeeded in bringing Rukia out, only to encounter a major obstacle: Captain Byakuya Kuchiki of the Sixth Division.

Byakuya's late wife, Rukia's elder sister, had entrusted him with her care before she passed away. Despite opposition from other nobles, Byakuya had adopted Rukia into the Kuchiki family.

Now, he was set to sacrifice Rukia for the greater good, sending her to the execution platform.

Normally, people in his position would let Ichigo rescue Rukia. But Byakuya showed no mercy, cleanly defeating Ichigo and extinguishing Rukia's hopes.

In the end, Yoruichi Shihouin arrived just in time to save Ichigo.

Meanwhile, Chad encountered the powerful Eighth Division Captain Shunsui Kyoraku, while Uryu and Orihime faced off against Twelfth Division Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi.

Chad was thoroughly outmatched and defeated quickly. Orihime was captured by a lower-ranking Soul Reaper during Uryu's fight with Kurotsuchi, but was later rescued by Kenpachi's lieutenant, Yachiru Kusajishi.

Kenpachi himself was intrigued by Ichigo's fate.

Uryu narrowly defeated Kurotsuchi with a powerful artifact from the Quincy clan, though there were suspicions that Kurotsuchi had held back.

Uryu then staggered, wounded, toward the Senzaikyū, only to be knocked out by Ninth Division Captain Kaname Tosen's Zanpakutō power.

Tosen called for a medical team, sending Uryu to the infirmary.

Aside from Ichigo, the group was essentially defeated.

To overcome Byakuya and save Rukia, Ichigo needed to master Bankai within three days under Yoruichi's training.

Normally, it took most Soul Reapers a lifetime to learn Bankai, and even those with talent took at least a decade. But for Ichigo, the protagonist, these obstacles were minor.

Three days quickly passed, and Renji joined Ichigo's Bankai training, transforming from enemy to ally.

As Rukia's execution time approached, Aizen shortened it further, and she was led to the Sōkyoku Hill to be executed.

Meanwhile, Chu Yang slept soundly in his cell, assuming things would be settled by the time he awoke.

But just as he was dozing off, footsteps echoed outside his cell.

Who's coming this time?

Chu Yang looked up, only to see it was Kaname Tosen, not Aizen.

Tosen, with his usual stern expression, silently approached Chu Yang's cell.

Chu Yang had a bad feeling.

Then, Tosen destroyed the cell door and ordered, "Come with me."

Chu Yang shook his head. "No need to trouble yourself. I'm quite comfortable here and want to sleep a bit longer."

Tosen frowned. "Lord Aizen was right. You are indeed a strange one."

"I'm not asking for your opinion—I'm giving you an order."

Chu Yang calculated the timing, figuring Aizen was about to make his escape and wanted to take him along by force.

Fortunately, it wasn't Aizen himself; Chu Yang felt a slight relief.

In his view, while Ichimaru Gin and Tosen were strong, they didn't pose a life-threatening risk.

Tosen's Zanpakutō ability couldn't trap Chu Yang; he could escape easily if needed.

Tosen's Zanpakutō, Suzumushi, emitted a sound similar to an insect's chirp, and this sonic attack had a hypnotic effect on those with lower spiritual pressure.

But compared to Kyoka Suigetsu's illusions, Suzumushi's hypnosis was a far cry, only causing temporary unconsciousness.

Chu Yang was unafraid of Suzumushi's effect due to his powerful spiritual pressure.

With each new world he experienced, his soul potential, like his physical strength, grew exponentially.

In terms of raw spiritual pressure, Chu Yang could rival more than half of the Soul Reaper captains, Tosen included.
