Chapter 127: Chapter 89.3: Infiltrating the Soul Society
He considered using Bankai, but as the battle moved closer to the Seireitei's heart, they neared the headquarters of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads.
Shinso's potential for destruction in this area was immeasurable. Though Gin would soon leave the Soul Society with Aizen and wouldn't face consequences, such disruption might complicate Aizen's plans.
And while Gin wasn't bothered by the thought, now wasn't the time for rebellion.
Deciding to wait, he thought, "Just hold on. This kid's spiritual energy will run out eventually…"
In the midst of the Soul Reapers' watchful gazes, the fight dragged on till dusk, with the two still clashing as the sun set.
The one exhausted first, though, turned out to be Gin.
Gone was his earlier smugness; he looked frustrated, mentally cursing himself for a fool.
Chu Yang, while looking disheveled, clearly had more energy left.
By now, Captains, Lieutenants, and countless Soul Reapers from the Thirteen Court Guard Squads were watching. Amused, they watched Gin's humiliation.
The ever-observant Eighth Division Captain, Shunsui Kyoraku, chuckled and teased, "Gin, running low on energy? Want me to step in and help you handle this kid?"
Gin stayed silent, mentally cursing Shunsui several times over.
At that moment, an uproar spread as Head Captain Yamamoto arrived with a retinue of Soul Reapers.
Yamamoto looked down while Chu Yang looked up, their gazes meeting.
Chu Yang smiled slightly, deactivating Sage Mode and the Lightning Release Armor, leaving only his invisible Armament Haki. Raising his hands, he plopped to the ground and shouted, "I surrender!"
Many onlookers appeared puzzled; Chu Yang still had energy, so why surrender now?
Gin, trembling with rage, felt duped. "What the hell are you doing?"
Chu Yang simply lay back, exhausted. "We've been at it all day. I'm tired and want to sleep. You're dismissed."
"Sleep?"
Gin almost burst a blood vessel. Why didn't you say that sooner? I've been dancing around here like a monkey, all our colleagues have gathered, and now you want to sleep?
Get up and keep fighting, damn it!
I'm going to poke three thousand holes in you!
"Stand down," Yamamoto's deep, gravelly voice sounded, silencing everyone.
No matter how annoyed he was, Gin wouldn't dare disobey Yamamoto. With his pride wounded, he turned and left.
Shunsui approached Chu Yang, observing him closely. He'd watched the entire battle and was intrigued.
Without Bankai, Gin was still a Division Captain. Even a Vice-Captain couldn't usually last against him.
But this kid had.
How did he evade such rapid strikes?
Shunsui was deeply curious.
"Head Captain, what should we do with this Ryoka?"
Looking up at Yamamoto, Shunsui asked.
"He trespassed into the Soul Society and caused chaos in the Seireitei. Even though he's surrendered, we can't let him off. Lock him up. After Rukia's execution, the Central 46 will decide his fate."
Before leaving, Yamamoto gave Chu Yang a lingering look.
The Head Captain then departed with his followers.
"The old man seems quite interested in you," Shunsui muttered to Chu Yang.
Chu Yang smiled. "Can't help it. Top students are always popular."
Shunsui raised an eyebrow, surprised at Chu Yang's optimism. "Aren't you afraid?"
Chu Yang shrugged. "No point wasting energy on fear when I can't beat you guys. It's pointless to feel something that doesn't help."
Shunsui nodded, chuckling. "You're quite the character."
As they finished talking, Tosen Kaname, the Ninth Division Captain who oversaw the prison, walked over to Chu Yang. "Get up. Follow me to the cells, and don't try anything foolish—you'll die."
Chu Yang glanced at Tosen but stayed silent. If he truly wanted to escape, he doubted these Soul Reapers could catch him.
He obediently followed Tosen, not planning to stir up any trouble. Waiting quietly for the storyline to progress was all he needed to achieve his goal.
As for Aizen's plot or his dealings with Kisuke Urahara, those were beyond his ability to influence.
Chu Yang understood both Aizen's and Kisuke's intentions. They were both after the Hogyoku hidden within Rukia's soul.
Kisuke's Hogyoku, an experimental product with the potential to break Shinigami limits, held immense power.
Aizen had long sought a way to transcend Shinigami limits.
The solution lay in Hollowfication.
Shinigami Hollowfication or Hollow Shinigamification—balancing these powers would allow one to surpass a Shinigami's boundaries.
The Hōgyoku possesses its own consciousness, allowing it to absorb the will of the things around it and manifest them in physical form.
Simply put, whatever you desire in your heart, the Hōgyoku can help you achieve, though it does have its limitations—not every random wish can be fulfilled by it.
Beyond this, the Hōgyoku can also grant its host bodily immortality.
When the host's power reaches its limit or their life is in danger, the Hōgyoku will push them to evolve to a higher level.
In case any issues arise during a Shinigami's hollowfication process, the Hōgyoku can ensure Aizen's safety.
However...
Both the Hōgyoku developed by Aizen and the one developed by Kisuke Urahara are only half-finished. They cannot function properly and are highly unstable, posing significant danger.
This is why Urahara hid the Hōgyoku he created within Rukia's soul.
In fact, even Rukia's journey to the Human World and her transfer of Shinigami powers to Ichigo Kurosaki bear traces of Urahara's influence.
The artificial body Urahara provided for Rukia has the effect of decomposing spiritual energy, causing the user to gradually lose their powers until they become an ordinary human.
His intent was to make Rukia lose her Shinigami powers and become human, thereby hiding the Hōgyoku to prevent anyone from coveting it.
On the other hand, Aizen deduced Urahara's intentions.
So, after eliminating the sages of Central 46, he used the power of Kyōka Suigetsu to hypnotize anyone entering or leaving the place and issue false orders.
Through these fabricated orders, he had Byakuya Kuchiki and Renji Abarai bring Rukia back to the Soul Society and subjected her to an extreme punishment.
Once Rukia is struck by the powerful force on the Sōkyoku Hill, the Hōgyoku inside her will be revealed.
Chu Yang had also once thought about the Hōgyoku, but at this stage, he lacks the means to seize it from either Urahara or Aizen, leaving him only to watch from the sidelines.
With Aizen's intelligence, any slight move on Chu Yang's part would alert him.
At that point, Chu Yang has no idea how things might unfold.
But he knows that he would undoubtedly be the first to die.
Aizen is incredibly strong.
At one point, he even overshadowed Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni, who has held the title of the strongest Shinigami for a millennium.
Aizen's Zanpakutō, Kyōka Suigetsu, is an illusion-type Zanpakutō with powers that are nothing short of broken.
Once a target witnesses its Shikai even once, their five senses will be controlled by Aizen, allowing him to manipulate them at will.
Everything you see is what Aizen wants you to see; even if you know you're under hypnosis, you can't break free.
How broken is this power?
Its effect is akin to a weaker version of the Infinite Tsukuyomi, but without any limitations—Aizen can use it whenever he pleases.
Aside from his immensely powerful Zanpakutō, Aizen's four primary Shinigami skills—[Zanjutsu], [Hakuda], [Shunpo], and [Kidō]—are all at the highest levels among Shinigami, with few rivals in his league.
Any rational person with some common sense would steer clear of such a terrifying figure.
If Chu Yang wants to face Aizen in battle, he would need the Six Paths Sage Mode with the Rinnegan, or even consume the God Tree Fruit to stand a chance.
In short, now is not the time to engage Aizen head-on.
As the saying goes, if the protagonist can handle it, it's not a problem; there's no need for Chu Yang to risk his life.
All he has to do is survive this battle and secure enough rewards to make it worthwhile.
Among the crowd, Renji Abarai, Lieutenant of the Sixth Division and Rukia's childhood friend, watched as Tōsen escorted Chu Yang away.
Later, under the cover of night, he secretly went to the Senzaikyū where Rukia was held and informed her about Ichigo and his friends.
Hearing this, Rukia, who usually maintained a stoic expression, showed a rare moment of panic upon learning that Ichigo and the others had come to the Soul Society to rescue her.
Originally, she left the Human World and willingly returned to the Soul Society to be punished so that Ichigo wouldn't be implicated.
"One of them, a Ryoka named Yang, has already been detained by Tōsen. If it weren't for the lack of casualties, he might have been sent to the Senzaikyū as well."
Recalling the previous battle, Renji couldn't help but comment, "I have to admit, that guy is quite strong. He actually managed to hold his own against Gin Ichimaru for that long. They fought from morning until evening, and just as Gin started to run out of stamina, that guy surprisingly conceded…"
Rukia couldn't immediately process this. "You're saying he fought Gin Ichimaru?"
Renji asked in surprise, "You don't know that guy named Yang?"
"I know him… it's just…" Rukia remembered the scene of him fighting Hollows barehanded and, after a long silence, finally said, "I didn't expect him to have gotten even stronger."
Renji nodded. "Indeed, he's quite strong. Without a Zanpakutō, he managed to hold his ground against Gin Ichimaru. If he weren't human but a Shinigami, he would probably already be Captain-level by now."
Rukia fell silent.
