Chapter 371: Chapter 368.
Chapter 368.
"Xiao San, I know what you're thinking, but the time isn't right," Tang Hao said calmly. "You've spent two years cultivating in the Slaughter City. Your spirit and soul have been heavily tainted by killing intent that permeates the city and need time to settle it. Otherwise, you'll lose control of yourself more often. Come with me. I'll take you somewhere to help you control your killing intent. You must learn to regulate this murderous aura to wield it smoothly."
Two years of killing could easily warp someone's character. Tang San's murderous intent now surged uncontrollably, drawing attention wherever he went.
Silently, Tang San nodded and followed his father.
As Hu Liena walked, she replayed the White Death parting words:
"Just get used to that area. If you touch it often, the defect will eventually resolve."
Touch it more?
The thought made her flush with embarrassment. How could she bring herself to touch such a private place repeatedly? Yet, she couldn't deny the logic. The method involved infusing soul power into her hands to stimulate the area, gradually desensitizing it. Over time, the problem would resolve.
The sensitivity stemmed from the fusion of her soul bone and the area near her lower back. Regular stimulation would reduce the heightened sensitivity. This was the only solution.
Lost in thought, Hu Liena reflected on her past two years in the Slaughter City. Every time she recalled the White Death, her heart raced. Initially, she admired him for his unparalleled strength and sharp intellect, keeping her guard up around him.
But as time passed, he became like a flawless gem amidst the filth, untainted by the darkness around him. Without realizing it, she found herself drawn to him.
It was the final moments on the Hell Road that left the deepest impression—when the White Death saved her. She knew without his intervention, she wouldn't have survived, let alone emerged from that hell.
'Star, what kind of person do you think he is?' Hu Liena asked, her thoughts directed at the consciousness residing in her skull.
A soft, instinctive hum echoed in her mind, the voice of Star.
'You feel a slight connection to him too?' she mused. 'Was it because he saved me?'
Star's response was affirmative, prompting a chuckle from Hu Liena. 'You're a soul beast, yet you feel close to him. That's fascinating.'
The creature hummed again in agreement, and Hu Liena gently pacified it.
Thinking back to the latter part of the Hell Road, a soft smile spread across her face. Perhaps she didn't even realize how sweet her expression had become.
'What do I feel for him? Gratitude? Admiration? Maybe both…' she thought. 'White Death God... Wang Wu... Who are you really?'
She shook her head, dismissing her musings. Unlike Tang Yin of the Clear Sky Clan, who was destined to be her enemy, she felt no such animosity toward Wang Wu.
A voice ahead broke her thoughts.
"Girl, what's making you smile so sweetly?"
Hu Liena stopped in her tracks. It was Chrysanthemum Douluo, grinning at her.
"Elder Ju?" she exclaimed, her eyes lighting up. "I've completed the Hell Road! I've also acquired the Death God Domain!"
Chrysanthemum Douluo's voice, sharp yet cheerful, carried a hint of pride.
"His Majesty the Pope already knows. She's quite pleased with your progress. She wants you to return and share your experiences on the Hell Road."
Hu Liena nodded thoughtfully. An idea formed –in her mind, she must persuade her teacher to recruit the White Death. His power was undeniable, and the Pope would surely be impressed.
"Where's Elder Ghost?" she asked suddenly. The two elders were almost always together.
"He's off to kill someone," Chrysanthemum Douluo replied nonchalantly.
"Who?" Hu Liena's heart skipped a beat.
"The White Death God," Chrysanthemum Douluo said, his tone casual.
Hu Liena's eyes widened in shock.
"No! Where is Elder Ghost? We have to stop him! He can't kill the White Death –God!"
Her sudden outburst left her momentarily dazed. She hadn't even thought before speaking.
Chrysanthemum Douluo frowned. "His Majesty has decreed that the White Death God must not leave the Slaughter City alive. She considered acting personally but refrained when she learned you were on the Hell Road too. Instead, she tasked me and Elder Ghost to deal with him once you emerged. His Majesty initially wanted you to do it, but she decided not to interfere with your training."
Hu Liena's mind raced. She now understood why her teacher viewed the White Death God as a threat. His immense strength and unique abilities were indeed formidable.
"No, this can't happen! You can't kill him!" Hu Liena said urgently. "He saved my life. Elder Ju, please, can't we convince him to join the Soul Hall? Someone of his caliber would be invaluable!"
Chrysanthemum Douluo considered her words.
"You do have a point," he admitted. "His Majesty likely fears he won't be easily controlled. Those who survive the Hell Road are exceptional talent, often destined to become Titled Douluo, and even may reach the peerless Douluo level."
He sighed. "But do you think he'd willingly join us? Individuals like him don't serve others lightly."
"At least let me try!" Hu Liena pleaded. "Elder Ju, please stop Elder Ghost!"
After a moment of deliberation, Chrysanthemum Douluo relented. "Very well. If the White Death God can hold his ground, perhaps he'll be open to negotiation."
