Siblings with No Life Get Summoned to Another World as Detectives

Chapter 3: 3. Academy

They headed toward the exit, their footsteps echoing softly in the quiet corridor. As they reached the heavy wooden doors, both let out deep sighs—mentally preparing to step outside.

Kai placed his hand on the door handle… then pushed the doors open.

Sunlight attacked them immediately.

"AHHH! IT BURNS!" Kai screamed, his voice cracking as he flung his arm up to shield his face.

Mei stumbled behind him, groaning as she squeezed her eyes shut, "MY EYES!"

Nearby, a couple of staff members passing by stopped mid-step, their jaws dropping. They couldn't believe what they were witnessing—two introverted, antisocial, emotionally fragile teens literally fighting the sun's wrath just to get outside.

After they got used to the blinding light (and stopped rolling around on the floor), they began their walk toward the academy.

The stone paths were clean, but cold—like the sun couldn't warm them.

The houses they passed were old, with pointed rooftops and narrow windows that felt like they were watching.

Kai trudged forward with his hands shoved deep into his pockets, his uniform feeling stiff and awkward—more like a costume than something he belonged in. For someone supposed to "solve a case," it felt way too formal.

"Why do we even have uniforms if we're not students?" he mumbled under his breath.

Mei shot him a flat glance over her shoulder. "You're asking me? I finished school ages ago," she replied with an almost bored shrug

"Yeah, if by finished you mean made it through six grades and gave up," Kai muttered back.

Mei walked a few steps ahead, holding her sketchbook under one arm like a proper detective.

Her cloak flapped in the breeze behind her.

"YOU WENT FOR ONLY THREE GRADES!" she snapped without even looking back.

Kai sighed.

"Do you actually know where this 'academy' is?" he asked, picking up his pace to catch up.

"Of course I do. You go… straight, then left, then right, and then you're there."

Kai hesitated, then nodded slowly. "Alright. I'm trusting you on this one."

———————————————————

Finally, after about twenty minutes of walking, they arrived in front of a massive castle-like building, with tall towers, stained-glass windows, and huge double doors.

"So… this is the academy." Kai raised an eyebrow.

Before they could step inside, a girl appeared out of nowhere.

She looked pretty young—but her uniform was different. Instead of a skirt, she wore pants, and she had no cloak.

She spoke up, smiling brightly,

"You must be the new arrivals! Kai and Mei, right?"

"And you are?" Kai asked cautiously, but was immediately elbowed in the stomach by Mei, who whispered,

"That's the professor!"

Kai froze, stunned by how young she looked.

"Ah—my apologies, I meant to say—'And you are?'"

Mei elbowed him again, but the professor just waved it off.

"No worries,"

She said with a wink. Clearing her throat, she switched to her official tone,

"I'm Sarah Bennet, and I'll be determining your Core types!"

"Core?" Mei echoed.

Sarah nodded, eyes sparkling with excitement. "Yes! Every living being has a Core—a special essence that defines the powers you possess."

She pushed the heavy doors open, revealing a bright hallway packed with all sorts of students. Some had fluffy cat tails twitching behind them, others had sharp fox ears that twitched at every sound. Piercing wolf-like eyes scanned the crowd, and a few elegant, pointed elf ears that fluttered slightly.

"Whoa!!!" the two said in unison.

Suddenly, they felt dozens of eyes on them.

Other students paused their conversations and stared with curiosity, but siblings paid no attention to them.

"Follow me," Professor Sarah said before turning on her heel and walking off.

They arrived at a door.

"Here we are." She opened it and led them inside.

It was a small room with a strange white crystal, medium-sized, placed on a table.

They approached it.

"Please place your hand on the crystal, one at a time. This will determine your Core," Sarah explained.

Kai gently nudged Mei forward, sacrificing her.

She stepped up and placed her hand on the crystal.

Instantly, it began to glow.

Sarah glanced at a strange device that looked like a regular tablet, then said,

"Alright, now Kai."

Kai did the same, resting his hand on the crystal.

"Please take a seat while I check your results," Sarah continued.

Mei and Kai sat down.

"So what even are these Cores?" Kai asked.

Mei just shrugged.

"Okay… results will be ready in a second."

Sarah tapped on her tablet a few times.

Her bright, cheerful expression slowly shifted into one of confusion.

She tapped a few more times, then looked back at the siblings.

"This... this is impossible..."

Mei and Kai tilted their heads slightly, both confused.

"You... you both have two Cores," she said in disbelief.

"Is that a good thing?" Mei asked, tilting her head again.

"Could you explain what Cores actually are?" Kai added.

Sarah took a deep breath to steady herself.

"Well... Cores are what give you your abilities. There are seven known Core types:"

1. KURENAI – The power of drawing

2. NOESIS – Enhances information processing, memory, and deduction

3. KANASHI – Allows emotional sensing and light mind-reading

4. RAIKEN – Boosts strength, flexibility, and endurance

5. SHINKA – Enhances speed and stamina

6. MIKURA – Grants short-term precognition and telekinesis

7. TOKIWA – Enables short-distance teleportation

She exhaled deeply after listing them all.

Clearly, she wasn't used to talking this much.

"So… what Cores do we have?" Mei asked eagerly.

"Mei, you have…" Sara looked back at her tablet.

"Kurenai and Raiken — the power of drawing and enhanced physical strength. Both are physical Cores."

"And you, Kai…" she glanced again,

"You have Noesis and Kanashi — enhanced mental processing and emotional reading. Both are mental. Congratulations."

Kai and Mei looked at each other… and smiled.

"What can we do with those Cores?" Kai asked, his curiosity finally winning.

"Well, there are a variety of abilities that will unlock based on your Core types."

"Tell us more!" the siblings shouted in unison with scary smile.

———————————————————

Kai stood in front of classroom 1-B, mentally preparing himself to be called in by the teacher.

He stared at the door and thought:

"Why am I so nervous? I mean, I've got two Cores—shouldn't I be confident? But… it's still school. Just take a deep brea—"

"Kai, you can come in now!" the professor called from the other side of the door.

Kai took another breath, slapped a fake smile on his face, and opened the door.

He stood in front of the class.

"Hello! I'm Kai Kagami, nice to meet you all!" he said cheerfully.

While the other students looked at him, he quietly activated one of his abilities—Emotion Reading.

Thanks to this power, he could sense others' emotions… but since he was still Level 1, and had just unlocked his Core, it only worked on whoever he was directly looking at.

So, he scanned the room with his eyes.

"Lots of disinterest and neutral vibes… but also a lot of envy and jealousy. Yeah, sounds like a normal class," Kai thought.

"He's kinda cute,"

"Look at him,"

"Handsome..."

Such whispers could be heard around the room, but Kai ignored them.

"Let's see… sit back there, last row," the teacher said, but then noticed two empty seats in the back.

"In the middle," he clarified.

Kai made his way to the seat, then glanced at the empty desk by the window.

"Looks like someone's abse—"

Before he could even finish the thought, the door slammed open and a breathless voice echoed,

"S-sorry… for being… late," said a girl with light lavender hair standing in the doorway.

The teacher gave her a quick glance and said,

"Go to your seat. Don't let this happen again."

"Yes, Professor," she replied with a sweet smile before walking to her desk.

As she walked, her long lavender ponytail bounced with every step, a few delicate strands framing her innocent-looking face. Her hairstyle was a perfect blend of mischief and elegance.

Her eyes, the same soft hue of lavender as her hair, were wide and luminous, with a gaze that radiated gentle innocence.

But what drew the most attention… were her legs.

Long, slender, with the perfect balance of grace and subtle femininity. Every step was precise and poised, and as she walked, her pastel blue plaid skirt swayed lightly, revealing glimpses of her delicate thighs.

Right where her thighs narrowed, her stockings began—pure white thigh-highs that hugged her skin perfectly without a single wrinkle. At the top, they were adorned with tiny silky bows that fluttered gently with her stride. The edge of the stockings sat just under her skirt, leaving a teasing sliver of bare skin between.

Her legs ended in simple but adorable Mary Jane shoes, polished, with shiny straps and tiny embossed hearts on the sides.

She looked like a doll with legs sculpted for aesthetic perfection—soft yet confident, alluring without trying to be, BUT... SHE WAS FLAT!

As soon as she sat beside him, Kai noticed she wasn't wearing the school uniform.

He couldn't help but ask,

"I thought uniforms were mandatory for everyone?"

The girl smiled, a hint of refined arrogance in her expression.

"They are… unless you come from the right family," she said calmly.

"You're new here, right?"

"Yeah… I'm Kai Kagami. Nice to meet you," he said and extended his hand for a handshake.

"Yuki Aoi. Sorry… I don't do handshakes," she replied with a smile, not a trace of discomfort.

Kai slowly pulled his hand back.

"Mind Reading," he whispered, activating another one of his abilities.

But… nothing. He couldn't read a thing.

"Hah? You actually thought you could read my mind?" Yuki asked with a teasing smile.

"So… it doesn't work on everyone," he realized.

"Let me guess. You're Level 1, right?" she said.

"I'm Level 10. The gap's too big for you to read me. But I'll tell you what I'm thinking."

Kai tilted his head slightly, curious.

"You're cute. That's what I'm thinking."

"...What?"

"I—like—you."

She spelled it out slowly, like it was nothing.

Kai blinked a few times, still processing, but before he could say anything back—

"No talking!" the teacher barked.

Yuki just giggled.

———————————————————

Mei stood in front of classroom 3-C when the teacher called her in.

She opened the door and stepped in front of the class.

"I'm Mei Kagami. Nice to meet you," her voice was soft, but clear enough for everyone to hear.

"Please, have a seat. There's an empty spot in the second-to-last row by the window," the teacher said.

Mei walked over and took her seat by the window.

"Huh?" she murmured when she felt a hand gently touch her shoulder.

She turned—and her gaze immediately landed on a figure that seemed to defy the very laws of nature.

Standing behind her was a girl who was half-human, half-fox—one of the so-called Neko of this world.

Though she wore a school uniform, her body looked like it had been sculpted by a divine artist—designed to captivate and mesmerize.

Her waist was slim, elegant lines tracing her curves down to hips that flared out with a natural, hypnotic grace. Every movement she made was fluid, like a silent rhythm of seduction. Her legs were long and graceful, yet toned—crafted for both agility and allure. Her thighs, smooth and perfectly shaped, held a soft fullness that looked as inviting as it did dangerous.

Her boobs were full and round, the fabric of the uniform wrapping around just tight enough to hint at the softness beneath—not too exposed, but tempting, promising secrets hidden just out of sight. They weren't just breasts. The way the material hugged her chest made each curve stand out like a gentle provocation—delicate, yet impossible to ignore. They were art. Alive. Breathing. Tempting. So full and perfect, they looked like they were made to be touched—to be held, worshipped... squeezed.

Her skin glowed with a soft radiance, kissed by the sunlight pouring in through the window.

Her presence left no room for doubt—this girl was the embodiment of charm, a perfect fusion of wild instinct and gentle seduction. A living magnet for the eyes, impossible to ignore.

"I'm Kitsuna Aika," the girl said with a mischievous smile.

Mei didn't respond with words.

She simply raised a hand and gently touched Aika's ears.

Aika's foot began tapping the ground from pure bliss.

"Mmmmmm..."

"So soft."

———————————————————

During lunch break, Mei and Kai met in the cafeteria—everything was going according to plan… or, almost everything. Kai had brought Yuki Aoi, while Mei came in with Kitsuna Aika.

"Guess who I foun—" the siblings both started at the same time, but they suddenly went quiet as they caught sight of each other… and the person standing beside them.

"Who's that?!" they shouted in unison, eyes full of shock and disbelief.

"This is my new BEST friend Kitsuna!!! And who's that?!" Mei yelled from across the cafeteria.

"Well, this is my new BEST friend Yuki!!!" Kai shouted back.

"Wanna sit together?!" Kai asked.

"Sure!" Mei yelled back.

They all sat down at the same table.

While Yuki and Kitsuna were getting to know each other, Kai and Mei sat there sulking, refusing to even glance at one another.

"Mei... what's wrong?" Kitsuna asked softly.

"He replaced me."

Kitsuna looked at Kai.

"She probably replaced me first."

Kitsuna looked away, clearly frustrated, not knowing how to make things better.

But Yuki Aoi? Her smile held just enough wickedness to hint at danger… and amusement.

She moved closer to Kai, so close their knees were touching. She leaned toward him, and he could feel her breath on his neck, her voice barely a whisper:

"If you try to make up with your sister... I'll show you something special~"

Kai blushed hard just thinking about it. He'd spent most of his life in that tiny cramped room with his sister, and the only 18+ content he knew was the stuff he watched on his computer—porn. He barely even had time to jerk off next to her. He'd never experienced anything IRL.

"Wh-what exactly do you mean?" he asked, trying to keep his voice from shaking.

Yuki didn't answer. She just nodded at him, then quietly shifted her weight, leaning back on her hands. Her long, smooth legs—soft and bright under the cafeteria's dim light—were slightly apart.

Her fingers gently grabbed the edge of her skirt. She looked at him with half-lidded eyes, like saying, "Just for you."

And then—slowly, almost theatrically—she began to lift the fabric up.

First, more of her smooth skin showed, then part of her thigh, and finally… pastel pink panties, trimmed with delicate white lace and a tiny bow right in the center. Perfectly clean. Innocent. But so... tempting.

Kai's gaze was glued to her panties.

"...Yuki," he muttered quietly, his heart pounding like crazy—as if it wanted to run away.

Yuki just giggled and slowly pulled her skirt back down, like absolutely nothing had happened.

"Don't forget what I told you~" she whispered with a teasing smile. "Make peace with your sis… maybe you'll see more~"

Kai swallowed hard, trying to look away from her. He was so mesmerized that something slowly started to… rise. He quickly dropped his hands over his pants to hide the bulge, but Yuki noticed and giggled again.

"Mei…" he finally spoke, voice full of guilt. "I didn't mean to replace you. I just… wanted to have a friend."

Mei looked at him—and in that moment, something clicked inside her. His words hit her, so she just lowered her gaze to the table. The truth was… neither of them had ever had a real friendship.

"Sorry," she whispered. And she really meant it. She felt bad because she made him say it.

At that moment, the sad silence was broken by Kitsune's cheerful voice:

"Ok, now that you've made up," she said happily, "I'd love to ask you—what core do you have? I have Shinka."

"Yeah, I have Shinka too," Yuki said.

"I have Noesis and Kanashi," Kai said, a little proud.

"Kurenai and Raiken," Mei added quietly but clearly.

Yuki and Kitsune were sipping tea at the time... but when they heard about their cores—they both spat their tea at each other.

"AHHH! HOT!" Yuki screamed while pulling at her crop top, and Kitsune after her: "SO HOT!"

"You have… two… TWO cores?!" Yuki asked, still shocked.

"Yeah," Kai confirmed calmly, like it was no big deal.

Both of them stared wide-eyed, then looked at each other... and then back at Kai and Mei.

"Is that… really that rare?" Mei asked, confused.

"YES!" Yuki and Kitsune shouted in perfect harmony, so loudly everyone in the cafeteria turned to look at them.

Kai and Mei glanced at each other—and in that moment, they realized how special they really were. Their confidence exploded.

"Hehehe," Kai spread his arms like he owned the world, while Mei grinned across from him.

"I think… we made a big mistake," Kitsune mumbled, and Yuki just silently nodded—agreeing with her.
