Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure

Chapter 1651: Chased down

With Joan's speed, we were able to remain ahead of the Apostle of Destruction.

In fact, we were able to maintain a sizable gap between us with the speed that she possessed.

But the problem was that the thing that the Apostle of Destruction was riding on was gaining speed.

It was a small increase in speed at first, but eventually it seemed like it was getting closer and closer.

Even when I tried to attack the Apostle of Destruction, it was able to dodge all of the attacks with its speed.

The more that we ran, the more it seemed like the Apostle of Destruction was going to catch up soon.

"Keep going, don't stop." We didn't give up as I kept urging Joan forward.

Not only was this our only option, it was also because I wanted to get as far away from the corruption energy array as possible.

There was a reason why the Apostle of Destruction came from the corruption energy array in the first place. At the same time, it was where it drew power from based on everything that happened.

If we could lead it far enough away, perhaps it would run out of power after being cut off from the corruption energy array.

Only it didn't seem to be losing power or speed with the way that it closed in.

"It seems like we have no choice but to go all out." I couldn't help muttering to Joan.

I could feel the slight shaking from her under me showing that she agreed with me.

In that case, there really was only one thing that could be done.

Raising the scarf in my hand, I created a mist around us.

When that mist appeared, the Apostle of Destruction that had been chasing behind us finally slowed down. It seemed that this mist had an effect on the Apostle of Destruction, or rather on the bird like thing made from corruption energy that it was riding on.

There was smoke coming from that corruption energy bird, showing that the divine energy mist was affecting it.

But even then, it picked up speed again after it adjusted to being inside of this divine energy mist.

In fact, it even came at us faster as if it wanted to finish this as soon as possible.

However, it couldn't touch us even though it reached us.

Or rather, it reached what it thought was us and went right through it.

It wasn't as if the only thing that the mist could do was obscure vision. It was water that was released into the air that created this mist which meant that it could be used to manipulate how light was perceived.

I used this mist to create a mirage of us.

Once the Apostle of Destruction's bird cut right through the mirage, that was when we released the flame breath that we gathered at it.

This time, the Apostle of Destruction didn't have the time to gather the same walls of corruption energy as before, so it had no choice but to take it head on. Or that was what I thought would happen, but the bird actually changed into a barrier for the Apostle of Destruction.

The flames were completely blocked, but the bird was also much smaller than it was before.

It seemed that the flames did have an effect, they just didn't have an effect on the person that I wanted them to.

"Not bad, it seems like you're quite capable. I understand why Lord Destruction God wants to bring you into our fold."

As I was about to say something, the Apostle of Destruction suddenly raised its arm and created what seemed to be a blade made of corruption energy.

"Goodbye."

It seemed that the Apostle of Destruction didn't even want to give me a chance as it swung this blade of corruption energy down at me as soon as it said this.

I had no choice but to use the button that had been grasped in my hand to form a layer of ice in front of me and Joan.

But the moment that the blade of corruption energy made contact with the ice barrier, it shattered in an instant. At the same time, I could feel the kickback from having the ice barrier shattered like this as I couldn't help spitting out blood.

This Apostle of Destruction that claimed to be one of the Four Omens…

This wasn't an empty title.

I couldn't help feeling a bit of regret at not running away sooner.

If I gave that order sooner, then perhaps it wouldn't have been as bad as this.

When I was filled with regret and pain like this, I was caught off guard by Joan suddenly turning around and reaching her arms around me.

"Don't!" I said through the blood, but she didn't listen to me.

After she grabbed me, she suddenly turned around so she would be the one facing the blade of corruption energy.

The next thing that I knew and the only thing that I could see was that we were being sent flying out of the sky. The speed that we were moving at made it clear that we had been sent flying.

It was most likely Joan being hit by the blade of corruption energy that she had been sent flying like this.

"Boom!"

With a large sound and impact, we landed on the ground.

Though I didn't feel anything since Joan had been clenching tight onto me.

It seemed that she didn't want to let me go at all, but…her hands still relaxed in the end. It was almost as if she was losing all strength with the way that she suddenly opened her hands like this.

"No, don't fall asleep!" I said as I jumped out of her grasp.

I had the Staff of Earth in one hand and the button in the other as I prepared to face the Apostle of Destruction, but it was gone.

The only thing that I saw was the ugly black gash that was on Joan's back.
