Chapter 1643: Sudden change (2)
"Get away from here!" I suddenly shouted at everyone.
They all looked at me with confused looks, but they still listened to me as they moved away from where I was standing.
I didn't care if they listened or not as I shouted to Joan, "Shoot your breath!"
Joan was also caught off guard by this, but she listened to me as she released the flames that she had been gathering this entire time.
As she did, there was a shaking that came from the metal that had been sealed off in the divine energy earth.
After this shaking, there was a burst of corruption energy that came from the array.
It was different from before where there were those strange creatures that were summoned as a defensive measure. Instead, it seemed like the array was releasing all of the corruption energy that it contained this time.
It seemed that the array had somehow been activated, which was why it was releasing all of this energy at once.
Luckily, Joan's flames fell right when the corruption energy burst forward.
When the corruption energy came out of the array, it started spreading in every direction. With the way that it spread, it was as if it wanted to swallow everything that was in the area.
But Joan's divine energy flames were able to suppress the corruption energy and push it back into the array in the end.
Even with the array releasing the corruption energy without stopping, it wasn't actually able to spread since there were these divine energy flames pressing down on it.
However, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before the divine energy flames ran out.
After all, the array contained what seemed to be an endless amount of corruption energy and there were only so many flames that Joan could release with just a single breath.
Still, the flames that Joan released bought the rest of us enough time to get out of the way of the corruption energy.
When everyone had jumped onto the backs of the wyverns and were flying away, I waved at Joan and said, "That's enough!"
She didn't waste any time in flying over to the wyvern that I was sitting on and brought me over onto her back before flying off.
Even though she was at the back of the pack from coming to pick me up, the speed that Joan flew at was far greater than the other wyverns. It didn't take her long to outspeed all of the other wyverns and reach the front of the pack.
But before she could get too far away, I stopped her and had her fly there on the spot for a bit.
We were far enough from the array that the corruption energy wasn't considered a problem anymore. At the same time, it was important to see what the effects of the array was and what this corruption energy was going to do.
The other wyverns also stopped once they reached where we were and they turned to look down at the array on the ground as well.
I couldn't help knitting my brows when I saw what the corruption energy was doing.
When it had been released at first, it surged all around the array as if it wanted to swallow everything that was around the array. But that quickly stopped when it reached a certain point and it completely stopped expanding.
Well, it didn't completely stop expanding, it was just that it was expanding in a certain direction.
Instead of expanding out in every direction, it seemed like the corruption energy was gathering and spreading in certain directions. There were two specific directions that the corruption energy was spreading in.
Seeing this, I couldn't help taking out the map that we created before and looking carefully at it while matching it with the directions that the corruption energy was spreading in.
"It's going for the other arrays." I said after looking at the array on the ground for a while.
Everyone else had grim looks on their faces when they heard this.
King Kashou was the one that broke the silence by asking, "Is there anything that we can do to stop it?"
I shook my head at him before saying, "With that kind of corruption energy being released, it would be impossible for me to stop on my own. It would be impossible even if everyone here were to help me. I would need others who can use the divine relics of their race to form the seal with me."
King Kashou asked with a deep frown, "Can we not get them here in time to stop this?"
I looked at him and said, "Perhaps we could do that if this was the only thing that we have to worry about."
It wasn't just King Kashou who was confused by this, everyone else was also confused by these words.
So I simply asked, "Is this the only array that's in this kingdom?"
Looks of understanding slowly appeared on their faces before their expressions turned grim again.
"Is it possible to intercept the other arrays before this one reaches them?"
Instead of answering this question, I asked another question.
"Why do you think that the others haven't activated yet? If this one activated, there's no telling what happened with the rest of them. When the time comes, what do you think will happen when they all activate?"
Their expressions turned even more grim when they heard this.
"Let's go to the capital and see if we can get any more information. If there are reports being sent, they will definitely be sent to the capital since that's where everyone thinks the central command center will be."
King Kashou and the two ministers immediately agreed with this idea.
But as we were heading to the capital, we really had no idea just how bad this situation was.
The other thing that I had to ask…
"Why did these arrays suddenly activate like this? Did something happen that caused them to activate?"
