Shinchan: Chaos of Anime Multiverse

This bakeneko was the product of multiple universe fusions, perhaps it had slipped in from some ghost story world.

Unfortunately, what it didn't know was that it had run into the Number One Exorcist of Kasukabe.

"You little brat, give up obediently. As long as you behave, I can properly spoil you."

The bakeneko grinned ferociously as it approached Shin-chan. Its expression grew more and more twisted, sharp fangs, a long tongue, and beast-like pupils. On the once-beautiful face, only a lustful craving remained.

"Once I eat those two women, I can transform into their appearance. Do you prefer the elder sister, or the younger one? I can satisfy you…"

Seeing Shin-chan holding a short blade in his hand, the bakeneko let out a dismissive snort.

"Give it up. A mortal's weapons can't hurt me!"

No sooner had it spoken than Shin-chan suddenly slashed with his sword, a cut through the air aimed directly at the bakeneko.

It had just opened its mouth to mock him, but then it felt a wave of intense pain in its chest. Half an arm along with the shoulder had been sliced off.

Shin-chan had been wanting to try this out for a while. But there hadn't been a proper target for him to unleash his full strength on. This monster that looked scary enough seemed perfect to test his power.

It's just… why did this thing feel so weak?

Shin-chan rushed forward and slashed toward the bakeneko's neck.

It wanted to dodge, but couldn't. It could only watch helplessly as Shin-chan's blade landed again.

Strangely, whether it was chopping off its arm or slicing through its head, there wasn't a single drop of blood.

The already-decaying seductive shell shattered and crumbled into ash. A scruffy black cat revealed its original form.

The black cat collapsed weakly to the ground, eyes wide in terror at the boy standing before it.

Though a yokai, this bakeneko wasn't very strong, its tricks were limited to illusion and weak spells meant to manipulate people's hearts.

It might have been fine against regular humans, but if discovered by the authorities, modern weapons could easily take it down. That's why it had been hiding in the temple.

This time, its vessel was about to break down, so it had no choice but to target the beautiful Yukinoshita sisters.

"Two tails. Does that mean I have to kill you twice?"

Now, the bakeneko's tail had fully split into two. Remembering the legends of the bakeneko, it seemed that for each tail it gained, it earned another life.

Upon hearing Shin-chan say this, the cat playing dead on the floor widened its eyes in shock. It had been found out.

"I'm going to curse..."

Before it could finish the sentence, Shin-chan slashed it twice more. With a blood-curdling shriek, it completely dissolved into black smoke, leaving only a pile of ash behind.

Shiro, who had been following at Shin-chan's feet, looked on in utter shock. 'Shin-chan! You bastard! You've been this strong all along and let me suffer through that many movie arcs!?'

"So gross. Shiro, can you help clean this up?"

Looking at the pile of ashes on the floor, Shin-chan was utterly disgusted. He felt like even his precious Fubuki figure had been tainted.

'Why me again?' That cat demon said something about Shiro having yokai blood, was that true?

Shiro quickly accepted this setup. After all, he really had been smarter than other dogs since he was a pup.

But even if he was a yokai, was it really okay to keep making him do chores? Still, after accepting that setting, Shiro felt a bit more energized.

Sighing, he pulled out a small broom from the corner and began sweeping.

"That thing even said it cursed me… why don't I feel anything?" Shin-chan scratched his head, puzzled.

'What's done is done. Might as well go back to watching Action Kamen.'

What Shin-chan didn't know was that the bakeneko's curse wasn't aimed at him, but at the Yukinoshita sisters next door.

The charms they had been given contained the bakeneko's fur and blood, forming a curse sigil. Just before dying, the bakeneko activated the curse.

"So comfy~"

Yukino felt like she had been sleeping for ages and stretched with a long yawn.

'What time is it? Why hadn't the alarm gone off?' She reached to check her phone and noticed something was wrong.

Why was the bed so big now? Where was her sister?

She instinctively tried to call out "Haruno", but what came out was a soft "meow~"

'Huh!? Paws. Fur. Whiskers!'

She, Yukinoshita Yukino, had turned into a cat!?

Though she loved cats and was a total cat-slave, she'd never wanted to become one.

It was over. She had turned into a cat. Would her family be devastated? Would Shin-chan be heartbroken too?

"Meow meow~ (Yukino?)"

From under the covers, another cat poked its head out, staring at Yukino in shock.

"Meow meow! (Sister!)"

It was over. The Yukinoshita family's future was ruined. Both daughters had turned into cats, how would their mother continue her matchmaking plans?

Yukinoshita Yukino had become a white cat, and Yukinoshita Haruno had turned into a black cat. The two sisters looked at each other wordlessly, their minds completely frozen.

"Why did we suddenly turn into cats?"

Yukino looked at her sister. This supernatural situation had her utterly panicked.

The thought that she might never turn back into a human again terrified her.

"Could it be related to the temple from last night?"

Though panicking inside, Haruno looked at her sister, still adorable even as a cat, and forced herself to stay calm.

"Hahaha, you two better live well."

Just then, a voice suddenly echoed in both their minds.

"If you two die, I won't be able to come back either."

"Who are you?!" ×2

"I'm just a passing bakeneko... as long as you two behave…"

The voice broke up and sounded extremely weak. Before it could finish saying what it wanted from them, it suddenly turned into a shriek again.

"D-Damn humans?! Why… why is my soul… being shattered too!?"

The voice faded… and disappeared completely.

It seemed that the bakeneko had only now realized, not only had its body been sliced apart by Shin-chan, even its soul had been chopped into pieces. Only now had it completely collapsed.

Though the bakeneko had vanished, its curse remained.

The Yukinoshita sisters were still in cat form. The only thing they could be thankful for was that, within both of their minds, a way to break the curse emerged.

If someone could recognize their identities and call them by name, the curse would be lifted.

But, if that person got their identities wrong… then the two of them would never turn back, and would have to live the rest of their lives as cats.
