She Professed Herself The Pupil Of The Wiseman (WN)

Chapter 304: A Morning with the Seven Sisters (2)

Alfina tried to reprimand Christina for acting so shamelessly, but Mira interrupted Alfina, telling her it was alright.

「I'm sure all of them are just as good since Frodina prepared them.」

Mira's comment made Frodina look a bit embarrassed by the compliment, and Alfina also agreed with that assessment, so she did not pursue the issue. Somehow, she did not seem to notice that something similar had just happened moments earlier, or she willfully ignored that.

「Morning… Huh, Master?! Good morning!」

「Good morning, Master. And you too, Alfina, Frodina, and oh, Christina is up too.」

Shortly after, the fourth sister Shalwina and the second oldest Eletina entered the dining room, ensuring Christina's safety.

「Good morning, you both.」

Mira returned the greeting and noticed something. It was obvious Shalwina had not slept, likely due to all the books Mira had lent her. She was almost sleepwalking at first, but seeing Mira made her snap awake, not wanting to be reprimanded when Mira had specifically warned her to not stay up all night.

Then again, Mira also knew of the charm such comic books could have, so she decided to turn a blind eye and let her off the hook.

Eletina had also started working on a new type of arrowhead, but she looked perfectly rested, and had perfect form when bowing to Mira to greet her.

Mira mentally complimented Eletina for knowing how to balance research with sleep, not noticing the slight shade below Eletina's eyes, likely because of Eletina's skillful use of makeup.

「Ah, I can smell something sweet.」

「Oh, me too. I wonder what happened?」

Shalwina and Eletina had sharp senses, so they quickly picked up that uncommon scent. Soon after, they discovered the french toast, which they looked at with glimmering eyes.

「I can't believe it, we're having something sweet for breakfast…」

「This is incredible.」

It turned out Christina was not the only one starved of sweets. Shalwina and Eletina were also elated to see that, and trembling slightly like they had witnessed a miracle.

「It was our Master's wish that made this possible!」

Christina jumped on her feet and loudly announced the reason why something sweet like french toast was being served. It was all thanks to their benevolent Master that they had been blessed with a precious sugary start to their day.

「We really should learn from her. Having something sweet in the morning is the best way to get enough energy to go through the rest of the day. I'm sure we'd all perform better if we had dessert after our meals on other days too.」

Eletina quickly picked up what Christina was attempting to do, giving a pleasant smile while wholeheartedly agreeing with her younger sister.

「There's a theory that the right amount of sugar can be beneficial to both mind and body.」

Even Shalwina noticed what was going on, and offered support as well. Mira had just graced them with the miracle of eating something sweet, and they did not want this to be the last time.

Without any prior planning or discussion, Christina, Eletina, Shalwina, and Frodina all worked together to bring sweets into their menu. They all emphasized that their Master had also wished for sweets, using long winded and indirect approaches to lead Alfina into lifting the ban on sweets.

「Everyone's more lively than usual this morning, huh.」

「Did something happen?」

As the discussion went on, the fifth and sixth sisters, Elivina and Celestina showed up. The two looked surprised to see Mira in the kitchen, and after greeting her and the other sisters, they tried to figure out why everyone was talking so much. Thаnks fоr rеаding—brоught tо yоu by М|VL|ЕМРYR.

By then, plates for everyone had already been neatly placed in their proper positions on the table, as they had gotten that ready while they talked.

Christina, talking like an apostle or some sort of oracle, filled in the latest arrivals on the topic of discussion, and they too instantly understood the implications of it, so without any prior agreement, they also began finding good arguments for the consumption of sugar.

(I just asked for french toast on a whim, so why did this become such a big deal…)

All six sisters banded together trying to get their oldest sister Alfina to change her mind, as it seemed like the only sweet thing they were allowed to eat were fruits. It had been more than a decade since the last time a sweet dish had been served like today.

Sweets were something Mira ate on a daily basis, so she had no idea that it was so uncommon for the sisters, and she even began to wonder if she should not have requested that for breakfast. Then again, her own sweet tooth made her sympathize with the sisters.

「I'm really getting curious now. Exactly why is it that you don't serve sweets here?」

Alfina was oddly silent while all her sisters tried to talk up the benefits of sweets. That strange situation filled Mira with curiosity, especially considering they mentioned it had been more than a decade since sweets were served, implying that they used to do it in the past.

「Umm, I mean, that's all in the past so it doesn't really matter…let's just focus on now, the present!」

Christina was the first to react to Mira's question, trying to avoid replying and saying that whatever happened in the past was not important. Instead, she was more interested in lifting the ban on sweets, starting to talk about improving one's future life with the same garrulity of a charlatan giving a weird seminar.

At first glance, it seemed like she was saying something important, but it was obvious that all she was trying to do was move Mira's attention away from the past.

「So, what was the cause?」

Mira ignored Christina's words, instead asking Alfina directly. She seemed to think about it for a moment, then saying, 「Please excuse my hesitation, as it might bring shame upon my sisters…」 but then she explained what happened. Christina tried to protest loudly and stop Alfina, only to be silenced by the rest of the sisters. At the same time, the rest looked a bit nervous, but knew there was no getting out of there.

「It all happened seventeen years ago, just around the time when Frodina's cooking began improving dramatically.」

Valhalla existed in a separate realm, estranged from the overworld, and items would rarely get through or brought to Valhalla. Eventually, that happened with a certain book, which greatly influenced Frodina and the menu served to the sisters.

「Alfina is right. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that all my cooking only exists thanks to that book.」

Frodina also corroborated Alfina's account. Mira got curious about that book which was receiving so much praise, so Frodina went to bring it from a corner of the kitchen.

「So books like this exist…」

It was a thick book, almost like a dictionary, and the binding had a rustic, handmade look to it, but it was a proper cookbook. It included small recipes for a single person, ways to serve many guests, quick and easy ones, extremely elaborate ones, and everything in between, all written down in great detail. There was one section that was also bigger than the rest, specifically the sweets and desserts.

Mira could glean that the author was likely a former player who was fond of sweets, as the recipes included traditional Japanese desserts and various famous ones from many other countries too.

「This really is impressive.」

The quantity of recipes was one thing, but they were also written in such a way that even Mira could understand and follow them.

As Frodina was already in charge of cooking for the sisters, and with the number of easy desserts in the book, it made sense that she could not resist trying them out to expand her repertoire.
