Chapter 21: Chapter 10: Then, I died (Part One)

Leo, Orion, and I started walking in the same direction as Orion and I did the previous night, toward the altar. Leo was still confused as to what we were doing but Orion told Leo he'd explain sometime on the way there. As we were walking, Leo leaned in. "Do you know what this is all about?" He whispered to me. "Yes, I do. I promise it's a good thing!" Then, I sped up to keep up with Orion who was walking abnormally fast and then Leo followed. "This has to go perfectly," Orion exclaimed. "What do you mean? What has to go perfectly?" Leo asked. "Basically, this land needs to be transferred over to both of you in order for it to be yours." Orion said. "And that's what the ritual is for?" Leo asked. "Exactly!" Orion answered. "We're almost there just a little further." He waved to us to follow him and so we did. Eventually, we arrived at that altar I saw last night. Leo looked surprised. Orion walked away to go get something and Leo admired the altar. "Wow." He said, walking up to it. "I know, I felt the same way." Leo touched the altar, then withdrew his hand quickly. "Leo?" I asked. He had a look of pure shock on his face. "Is something wrong?" I asked. "Uh," He walked away from the altar. "Nothing's wrong, i- it's fine." Before I had time to say anything Orion came back.

"Ready to start the preparation?" He asked. I wanted to say something to Leo but figured it was best if I let him be for the moment. Orion went up to the altar and opened a secret compartment from underneath. "What's that?" I asked. "This, my friends, is some of the more important supplies we will need for the ritual. He grabbed a duffle bag, sat down on the floor, and unzipped it while Leo and I stood there watching. "Well? What are you waiting for? Sit!" Orion said and we did. The first thing he pulled out was a book it's design had a full moon on it and the cover was written in a language I didn't understand. I placed my hand onto the front cover feeling the bumpiness. "What language is this?" I asked. "Luna, do you know why you have moon powers?" He asked and I felt like the answer was obvious. "Well, because we come from the moonlight bloodline right?" He tilted his hand side to side. "Yes and no. What gives the moonlights their power and also what makes them so much more powerful than any other bloodline is they are direct descendants of the goddess Selene." He said. "So, is that how the other bloodlines get their powers?" He shook his head. "Your bloodline is the only one that we know of that gets its powers from a goddess," Orion said. "Then where do they get power from?" I asked.

"Different things. As an example, we Stonewalkers get our powers from a power source. No one expect for the guardian of it knows where this source is. It's something that normally gives us our power at the age of 20 but sometimes earlier." He blushed. "Actually, your mother helped me with my transformation. I was one of the earlier ones my powers activated at 19 and since your mothers were already activated then she helped me through the transition. Your transition was definitely more intense than mine though I'll give you that. My transition it was odd at first but I got through it just like the two of you got through your transition. I owe her everything." He said. "Is that why you're so determined to protect us?" I asked. "You two are the last of the moonlights, of course, I have to protect you! The last of her blood."

He was silent for a minute, slowly trailing off his sentence. "Ok, to answer your question, Luna, this book is written in ancient Greek. Right, let's move on." He started to pull out the next object without letting us answer. He pulled out an orb that was purple. I felt a wave of emotions hit me right when he pulled the orb out, but it was unlike anything I had ever felt before. "What's that?" I asked about to pick it up when Orion grabbed the orb. "Don't touch this, Luna. Only during the ritual." I looked at him curiously. "Why can I feel it? It's like the orb has feelings." He winked. "You'll see." Next, he pulled out a jar of flower pedals. They looked like the same pedals from the flowers that grew all around us. "These are pedals from the very first moonlight, will be essential to the ritual. Once you own this land you will be able to control the flowers and use them to your advantage." Orion said moving onto the next thing in the bag. He pulled out a vial of blood. "What's that?" Leo asked. "This is blood from a moonlight who owned Moonlit Field usually it's fresh but since well their all dead this will have to do."

He set it aside and pulled the next thing out of the bag. It was two large cloaks and he layed them out. One of them had a star and moon design while the other just had a full moon on it. "These are what we will need to wear. This one with the full moon on it i'll need to wear and the one with the stars and the moon you two will wear that one makes sense?" He asked. "Yea," Leo and I replied. "Alright, you two will need something that represents you and I think I already have the perfect items." Orion pulled out a statue of a moon and a Lion. "Leo, I believe the Lion represents you this will be the item that represents you in the ritual keep it safe." He handed Leo the Lion. "And Luna, I believe this moon represents you. Keep it safe." He handed me the moon. Orion went back into the duffle bag and pulled out a list he looked confused. "This doesn't seem right," he mumbled. Then, he read the list out loud.
